Harry Potter: The Vampire Prince

Chapter 258: 259: Astoria: My Adventure Is Just Beginning!

"You're stalling for time, Daphne. I want to know why."

Inside the second-year girls' dormitory, Eve leaned her chin on her hand, visibly impatient.

Daphne shuddered at having her true intentions exposed. Forcing a dry laugh, she said, "Why would I stall for time? You're mistaken, Eve. I just wanted to talk to you about something on my mind. I don't know what to do..."

"Don't be ridiculous. You don't know what to do? Either go after Nolan or give up and find another target. I think Potter wouldn't be a bad choice. I hear he's loaded and always uses the best of everything. Or maybe consider a Muggle-born? Muggles are good at making money, as you well know. How about Malfoy? A pureblood marriage—isn't that what you lot love the most?"

Eve stood up, already prepared to leave.

Daphne, of course, couldn't let her go. She quickly reached out, pleading, "Don't go, Eve—please!"

"If that's the case, then be honest."

Daphne remained hesitant, conflicted. She wasn't sure if her cousin Astoria had succeeded or not, and letting Eve go now might cause her plan to fail prematurely.

"You're covering for someone?" Eve tilted her head slightly, a cold smirk on her lips. "Let me think... Astoria is close to you—you two are relatives, aren't you?" She sneered. "Now let me guess what she's up to right now... While you're keeping me here, she's making a move on Nolan? What were you thinking? She's a first-year! Your pureblood families couldn't wait even a little longer? I have no idea what despicable trick she's planning to use—love potion, perhaps, or something worse. But is this really how pureblood wizards operate? With no bottom line?"

Daphne sat frozen, pale-faced and silent.

Eve shook her head in disgust. "I've always hated purebloods because of the bad memories they left me. But for a long time, I thought maybe I was just biased, that purebloods weren't all that bad. Today, I'm certain—they are just as filthy as I imagined. Now, I'm going to find Nolan and see exactly what your dear Astoria is trying to pull."

"No!" Daphne gasped and grabbed Eve's sleeve. "Don't go, I beg you!"

Eve laughed coldly, shaking her off. Standing at the door, she turned and said, "I don't know why you're helping her, but I'll tell you this: no one is born to be bossed around. I used to be weak and cowardly—until I learned to fight back."

With that, she strode out of the room.

Daphne opened her mouth, but in the end, she just lowered her head and bit her lip.

Unbelievable!

Eve Stock stormed into the common room, her strides long and determined as she headed straight for Nolan's dormitory.

It wasn't uncommon for girls to try slipping love potions to Nolan. They often laced them into sweets, hoping he'd fall for them after taking a bite.

But that was nothing. These childish tricks were more like silly schoolgirl pranks than real threats.

Not only was Nolan highly resistant to magic and potions, but even if he ever did get affected, it wouldn't matter. His friends would just take him to Madam Pomfrey before anything serious happened.

However, Astoria's actions were on a whole different level. She was making Nolan drink the love potion right in front of her. Was she trying to force a relationship with him? Hoping to trap him and make it official?

That was too much—completely out of line! No young witch should resort to such underhanded means to compete for someone's affections!

Eve reached Nolan's dormitory and pushed the door open.

And there she was.

Astoria Greengrass—a first-year girl, barely twelve years old—stood inside, wearing a flimsy, revealing Muggle-style nightdress, her small shoulders exposed, her entire appearance unnervingly seductive.

She was still so young. Her hands and feet were small and pale, her body nowhere near mature, yet somehow, dressed like this, she gave off an alluring, almost unnatural charm.

But that wasn't even the worst part.

In her right hand, she held a suspicious potion bottle. In her left, she gripped a bottle of Nolan's favorite tomato juice, about to pour the potion inside.

Caught red-handed!

"This isn't what it looks like!" Astoria stammered, sweating profusely.

Eve smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Oh? I'm very curious about what exactly you were planning here, Astoria. Care to explain?"

She was furious. Beyond furious.

How had she let this happen? Some little wildcat had slipped into her lover's room, dressed like she owned the place, and was trying to drug him?

And where was Nolan?

The sound of running water from the bathroom told Eve that he was still in the shower.

Astoria took a step back nervously. "Trust me, I can explain!" She laughed weakly, inching toward the door.

Eve, her face a mask of cold amusement, moved toward her like a predator stalking prey. Her every step was slow and deliberate, exuding an unmistakable sense of pressure, forcing Astoria back into a corner.

"Nolan, save me!" Astoria shrieked, dashing away.

But before she could escape, Eve pounced like a starving beast, tackling the smaller girl to the ground.

Just then, the bathroom door opened, and Nolan emerged, a towel draped over his shoulder.

The scene before him?

Eve, still in her robe, and Astoria, clad only in that ridiculous nightdress, rolling around on the floor, gripping each other, shrieking as they wrestled back and forth.

"..."

Nolan blinked, then smirked. "Didn't realize you two were so close."

"We are NOT!" both girls shouted in unison.

"Really?" Nolan ignored them and walked over to the table. He picked up the bottle of tomato juice Astoria had been messing with and, without hesitation, took a sip while glancing at a parchment he hadn't finished reading.

After a long silence, he finally spoke. "Before you two leave, fix the rug."

Five minutes later, a loud bang startled the Slytherins gathered in the common room.

They turned to see Eve, her face icy, marching out while carrying a rolled-up carpet over her shoulder...

Oh wait. No. That wasn't just a carpet.

Inside, a certain first-year was kicking and screaming, her little body rolling around in protest.

"Eve Stock! You damned woman! Put me down! If you're a real witch, duel me properly! If I lose, I'll give up on Nolan!"

The Slytherins watched, speechless, as Eve snorted, ignoring everyone. Her chilling aura sent shivers down their spines as she reached the first-year girls' dormitory, kicked the door open, and tossed the "carpet" inside like a piece of garbage.

From inside, they could still hear Astoria's furious cries:

"I won't give up! Old woman! I officially declare war! My pursuit of Nolan has just begun!"
