Harry Potter: The Planewalker

Chapter 79: Divine Archer

As Christian lay in bed, he reflected on his experiences over the past month. He constantly worried about his timeline and how his mother would react, and every fiber of his being told him to activate that artifact and go home.

However, he convinced himself it would be alright – that his mother could talk to that Seer to know he was alive; he convinced himself that his actions were to ensure a better future for the Muggle World, as he planned with his aunt.

'Everything will be alright,' thought Christian before entering his Mind Palace to review the battle, trying to learn. After reviewing the fight from all angles, he found a few mistakes or things he could have done better, but the biggest takeaway from this fight was that he needed to learn how to Apparate.

Early in the morning, he started researching the Library of Alexandria. The history books from Hogwarts barely mentioned that period, but there was a lot of research from the Muggles' point of view. However, Christian knew these things were unreliable because they did not mention any wizards.

The oldest recorded wizard is from Egypt, dating back to 2600 BCE, and wizards only separated themselves from Muggles in the 1600s. As such, much of ancient Muggle history is unreliable because it lacks such a prominent aspect.

After a few days of research, Christian had gained a basic understanding of the library, which only caused him more issues. The library was established between the years 288 and 283 BCE and was almost destroyed by Caesar in 48-47 BCE; however, records of its continuation exist in the early centuries of the Common Era.

As such, he had no idea where he would land and needed to prepare for all possibilities.

'The good news is Ancient Greek and Latin are languages I can use to communicate, but I should prepare just in case,' thought Christian. He had a few Language Lozenges in his bag and would love to use them. But this magical herb did not work for dead languages. But if he returned to the past, they would not be dead languages and would work. He was unsure, but still planned to use it, just in case.

Once he was ready, he swallowed the Felix Felicis and thought hard about the Alexandrian Library before activating the artifact. A portal appeared before him, and Christian cast a protective shield before stepping inside.

'Glehheh,' he swallowed a mouthful of water before realizing he seemed to be drowning. Christian closed his mouth, held his breath, and looked around. He noticed he was still holding his wand and immediately pointed it upward to silently cast the Ascension Charm, flying him to the surface.

Christian exhaled, trying to breathe in as much oxygen as possible. He conjured a small rowing boat and lay on it. After a few minutes, he regained his breath and dried his clothes before looking around.

"Great, the middle of the sea," he complained. With his poor navigation skills, this situation was one of his many nightmares. There was nothing but an endless ocean in sight.

"I remember I stole a helicopter: could I use it to fly out of here?" muttered Christian. "But I don't know how to drive a helicopter… Wait, if I used that Brain Wave Spell and granted it consciousness, could it drive itself? It's worth trying."

He searched for his bag hanging around his waist but found it empty. "No, where is my bag?" He looked at his clothes and found nothing; he tried the Summoning Spell with no success. His wand was inside the bag, along with many precious things.

'No, where is Odin's Eye?' He finally noticed he had not seen the artifact, which made him freak out again. Christian exhaled to calm down.

'Mr. Crow has saved my life before and should have no reason to harm me,' he thought. Was the crow innocent and a friend? He could not say, as they had only met twice, but Christian needed some hope to calm down. His first worry should be how to leave the water.

Christian closed his eyes briefly before looking in a direction. The luck potion was still working, and his intuition told him it was the way. He conjured two oars and bewitched them to row on their own; he then bewitched the back of the boat to spew flame and increase the speed. He sat down on the small boat as it rapidly moved toward shore, which he saw after over ten minutes.

'I have never been so happy to see land,' thought Christian as he played with the sand. "Hmm? Isn't that my bag?" He saw a bag lying on the sand less than a meter away from him; he checked it, and it was indeed his, but Odin's Eye was still missing.

'Better than nothing,' thought Christian as he looked around; he immediately noticed this place was deserted, with only a few people in the distance. As he was about to cast the Disillusionment Spell, someone noticed and called to him.

Christian watched while on guard as a shabbily dressed young man approached him with a wand.

"You're a wizard?" asked the young man. "What division are you from?"

"Division? What are you talking about?"

"You look 14, so you should have already been assigned a division."

"I'm only 11," lied Christian.

"Quit tall for an eleven-year-old."

"So I've been told," replied Christian. "Where is this? What year is it? Can you tell me?"

"You don't know?" The young man's wand never stopped pointing at Christian despite his questions

"I think an Obliviate Charm hit me," Christian explained.

"I need to verify your identity." The young man removed a badge from his dirty pockets, releasing a light that seemed to scan Christian's body. "It seems you're not one of the Camouflage Droids."

"Droid? As in robots? Why would I be a robot?"

"You don't know anything, do you?"

"Besides my name, family, and a few flashes of memories, no."

"That's probably a good thing. What do I call you?"

"Marcus," replied Christian.

"Well, Marcus, my name is Joseph, and the world you once knew has gone to shit," sighed Joseph. "Follow me, although I recognized your identity, you're still a liability."

"Where are we going?"

"To see the Commander." Christian detected a look of worship in Joseph's tone as he mentioned the word commander.

"Can you tell me what you meant by 'the world had gone to shit?'" asked Christian as he followed next to him.

"In 2010, a magical catastrophe revealed the existence of magic to the Muggle World. Despite the Federation's best efforts, it was impossible to clean this mess due to the fast spread of information on the Internet. Tensions between Muggles and wizards rose dramatically in the next five years until the start of the war in 2015."

Joseph sighed, "I remember that day like it was yesterday. I had just graduated from school and planned to ask Sarah to marry me."

Joseph sighed, "Despite the muggles' overwhelming destructive forces, such as their missiles, we had the advantage in the war due to strategic attacks on their leaders and military bases. Then, in February 2018, a group of droids appeared and began systematically killing us. They were fast, accurate, and ruthless."

"Where did they come from?" Christian asked. Based on the future of Jim's life, by the year 2018, the Muggle World was nowhere advanced enough to be creating functioning robots.

"Apparently, the muggles got their hands on a Time-Turner and studied it. They created the technology to travel to the future and return to the present with advanced technology. Those cheating bastards."

"Couldn't we do the same?" asked Christian.

"I heard we tried, but the attempt was a failure. I don't know much about it," explained Joseph.

"So, we're currently losing the war?"

"I wouldn't say we're losing; it's more like we're barely holding on," Joseph rebutted. "Luckily, we have a few individuals, like my commander, who have given us hope."

"Who is this commander? You seem to respect him immensely."

"I do, as he has saved many people's lives, including mine," said Joseph with a smile. "Plus, he has a cool title like the Divine Archer. It's a shame I don't have any archery skills, or I would have strived to be his personal soldier."

"Cool title, indeed," nodded Christian, thinking what kind of terrible timeline he had found himself in; this place was obviously not the Alexandrian Library. The two soon approached a small barricaded settlement, with wizards on the lookout and maybe even protective enchantments.

Joseph led Christian inside the settlement after talking to a guard at the entrance. His eyes immediately caught sight of a tall man with a thick beard sitting next to a bonfire. He was shirtless, revealing his slender yet extremely muscular torso, particularly his well-defined arms.

'This man, why does he look like…'

Christian did not finish his thought as his surroundings suddenly changed, and he found himself standing in a back alley with no one present and an unknown architecture, with Odin's Eye in his right hand.

"What just happened?"
