Harry Potter : The Archmage Awakens

Chapter 6: Chapter 6

I could see Hermione's face flush with pink upon hearing my praise.

"No, it's nothing, Harry," she stammered, looking a little embarrassed. "You're my best friend, and we've always helped each other."

"And it's good that you've got a more positive attitude towards this. We'll both have to do our best so you can make it through this tournament without any harm."

With that, we continued our walk by the lake, finishing our food and simply enjoying each other's company.

After a little while, Hermione spoke again, breaking the comfortable silence.

"Harry, I've been thinking... you know what we've got to do as soon as we get back to the castle, right?" she said, her voice a little more serious.

"What.?" I asked a little curious.

'My plan was to check out the room of requirement, but I don't think that's what she is talking about.' I thought.

"Write to Sirius. You've got to tell him what's happened. He asked you to keep him posted on everything going on at Hogwarts. It's almost like he expected something like this to happen."

"I brought some parchment and a quill with me; you can tell him about this and send the letter through Hedwig," she told me, pulling out the parchment and quill from her bag.

"Yeah, I should tell him. Though I'm pretty sure he's going to find out soon enough from the Daily Prophet," I said.

"But it's better if I tell him myself and ask him not to do anything reckless," I added.

"But I can't use Hedwig , he asked me not to contact him with her next time, I will have to use one of the school's owl." I explained.

They went up to the Owlery in the castle. Hermione gave me a piece of parchment, a quill, and a bottle of ink, as we reached the place .

Then strolled around the long lines of perches, looking at all the different owls, while I sat down against a wall and wrote the letter.

Dear Sirius,

You told me to keep you posted on what's happening at Hogwarts, so here goes — I don't know if you've heard, but the Triwizard Tournament's happening this year and I got picked as a fourth champion. I don't know who put my‘ name in the Goblet of Fire, because I didn't. The other Hogwarts champion is Cedric Diggory, from Hufflepuff. Please don't do anything reckless and stay safe.

Hope you're okay, and Buckbeak - Harry

I kept the letter brief and to the point. After finishing the letter I went towards Hermione to look for a school owl to tie the letter to.

As I reached her, Hedwig came fluttering towards me and sat on top of my sholders as she held out her leg.

I started petting her soft fur and while saying. "I can't use you for this Hedwig."

She hooted loudly in response, taking off as if she understood.

She perched out of reach, staring down at me with an almost offended air. "Fine, then," I thought, suppressing a smile.

I tied the letter to the leg of a large barn owl, which took off immediately, flying toward the distant horizon.

Before I could reach out to pet Hedwig again, she let out a sharp click of her beak and flew higher into the rafters, clearly upset with me for not choosing her.

I sighed and glanced back at Hermione.

"'Guess she's mad at me now," I said with a shrug. "Anyway, that's done."

'I wonder if all owls are this dramatic or if Hedwig's just built different.'

With that done we left the owlery and started heading towards the common room.

After walking together some more with her, I separated from Hermione and started to go towards the seventh floor where The Room of Requirement was situated.

The room that all fan-fiction MC's have to visit atleast once. Though for a good reason as it really is that awesome.

The Room of Requirement is the key, I thought. If there's anything I need to be ready for the tournament, it's definitely there.

Arriving at the seventh floor I went towards the tapestry behind which the room of requirement was hidden.

I checked my surroundings. The corridor was empty.

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and pictured what I needed.

I need a room, that houses knowledge— powerful books, powerful spells, anything that might give me an edge in the Triwizard Tournament and beyond.

Repeating the same thing three times in my mind I moved in front of the tapestry.

As I stopped moving the wall shimmered faintly, and a door appeared as if it had always been part of the castle.

The door was plain at first glance—a solid wooden structure with a simple handle—but as I reached out, faint runes began to glimmer on its surface, their shapes shifting around the wood before fading.

Taking a deep breath, I grasped the handle and pushed the door open.

The air inside was cool and dry. It carried the smell of old books.

Inside there were some seats and shelves filled with books and parchments.

It was flooded with light from some glowing orbs that floated around the room.

Shelves towered high on either side, packed with books and scrolls. Some appeared to be bound in common leather, others in materials that I had never seen.

There were probably thousands of books just kept on these shelves all waiting for me to read and experiment with.

A section of the room was seprated to be a training area to practice with spells. Some dummies stood there as a form of targets.

This… this is exactly what I needed, I thought, barely holding back a grin.

After learning spells from the extensive library here, I could experiment and even create my own spells tailored to my needs.

With the Essence of the Archmage helping me, understanding and adapting spells wouldn't be much of a challenge.

My mind was filled with possibilities . But one thought stood out—magic alone wouldn't be enough.

'I need to find a way to strengthen my body.'

It was a glaring weakness in this world. Witches and wizards in the Harry Potter universe were, at their core, still human, vulnerable to physical harm.

So that was also a point of research for me .
