Chapter 198: Not My Best Chapter... [FIXED!]

The day came to an end and a lot of things happened that night, Kyle could be reunited with Jane but he kept what went on with Cleopatra to himself.

He had been sexually assaulted by her and this was a crime but Kyle didn't push on.

"I'm sorry about last night," Ella apologized but Kyle didn't see it as a big deal.

"No, you have nothing to apologize for. I gave you a reason to react like that. " Kyle understood, as this was a justified reaction.

He was glad if anything, but they did have some strange moments that made it seem like something might happen that night.

Kyle noticed Ella fidgeting with an enclosed envelope in hand and couldn't help but wonder what was inside.

"Are you alright, you have had that for quite some time?" Kyle informed her.

"I'm fine… You know what…" Ella said, pausing as she contemplated sharing her true emotional state.

"I'm not fine," Ella confessed, it was early in the morning and Kyle ended up on the couch with Ella sleeping on the bed.

Kyle got up and walked towards her, he knew that she didn't come here with that so it must be part of the reason Cleopatra allowed her to return home.

"Want to tell me about it?" Kyle asked but Ella was skeptical; however, she didn't want Jane to worry about her.

She understood that she had to find a way to navigate through these things without shackling Jane.

Jane was finally getting a life that was free from her influence and she loved that for her, if anyone deserved it, it was Jane.

"This envelope…" Ella decided to confide in Kyle, she had nothing to lose doing this and had done so previously either way so this already established a certain level of vulnerability with him.

"... This is a message for me… From my parents," Ella revealed and Kyle was genuinely surprised because from what Ella had told him, they had practically disowned him despite leaving her money to kickstart her life.

Ultimately, she was abandoned but now wasn't the time to take the conversation in that direction.

"Are you ready to read it?" Kyle asked, sitting on the edge of the bed to let her know he was with her.

"I don't know if I would ever be ready," Ella confessed because this was going to take a huge emotional toll on her.

"We would never be ready if we waited for the right time because it doesn't exist… I know it is cliche and might be bullshit but it is something I believe," Kyle said.

"I can't pretend to know what you're feeling but I'm sure that your inner child is screaming with everything in her to open up that letter. The question is, are you going to deny her?" Kyle added.

He wasn't applying any pressure whatsoever on her and if she decided to not open it all, then so be it.

But something told him this moment would be something she would forever regret if she didn't open that envelope.

"Why are you so good with words," Ella said, wiping the tears building up in her eyes.

"I might be the reincarnation of Shakespeare," Kyle joked.

"Are you ready?" Kyle asked, his voice taking a more serious tone.

Ella took a deep breath before nodding, it took a full minute for her to gather the courage to do this and Kyle was patient even though he wondered why she didn't want Jane here with her when she did so.

It was an important moment in her life and one would think she would want to experience this with her best friend.

However, there were a thousand reasons why she possibly wouldn't want to.

She opened the envelope and the silence that came after was deafening, Kyle didn't know what was inside and he wasn't close enough to physically embrace her but he knew that this was a moment she had to experience alone.

She needed to take in because Kyle could give an educated guess as to what was inside that envelope, it was either a letter apologizing or one sharing part of the family wealth with her or better yet, both.

-

Jane slept like a baby, she thought that the arrangement would bother her but it didn't bother her as bad as she initially thought.

The fact that she had such a good night's sleep was proof but one could say the brief conversation she had with Kyle helped to calm her nerves.

She didn't know what they were up to but found breakfast waiting for her, it was steaming hot.

Jane felt like she was residing in a five-star hotel with how she was being treated.

The breakfast wasn't cheap stuff either and being a glutton, this was heaven on earth.

She took a bite of the toasted bread and even that tasted differently, like it was baked by a deity.

She wondered what Ella and Kyle were doing but didn't think much about it after dipping her fingers into some Caviar Omelette.

She knew that this was easily in the thousands but she was surprised that it was made of actual gold.

Before she could have her fill, there was a gentle knock on the door.

Jane immediately assumed it was Kyle because who else could be at the door?

She rushed and opened the door but was stunned to see Cleopatra standing right in front of her.

"Good morning Jane, I trust you had a good night's rest," Cleopatra was like the devil, everything she did felt malicious.

Jane found herself backing away allowing her to enter the room.

"There is no need to be so afraid, Jane. Believe it or not, I have feelings and I'm here because I'm worried about you," Cleopatra said.

"W-Worried about me?" Jane repeated, confused by what this meant, this little trip was turning into something else.

Jane regretted coming here because it had the potential to set Ella back in her recovery.

"That is right, Jane. I am. The truth is, I never disliked you," Cleopatra began her manipulation to get into her head but Jane wasn't going to fall for such a cheap manipulation.

"Can you leave please?" Jane asked but Cleopatra ignored this and sat on the chair before gesturing for Jane to do the same.

Jane was hesitant but ultimately, she listened to Cleopatra.

"Don't you want to know more about the man you're dating?" Cleopatra asked but Jane knew there was no way this woman could know anything about Kyle.

However, that was naive thinking because there was nothing that money couldn't do, she had used the time they were in the house to gather information about Kyle.

"D-Dating? He is Ella's boyfriend, not mine," Jane tried to maintain the facade, something that Cleopatra didn't care too much about.

She wasn't buying it either way or she wouldn't need to ask Kyle to try and sleep with Ella.

"That is up to you but I have found something about him that I know you will be interested in, do you want to hear it?" Cleopatra asked. Curiosity was a dangerous thing because anyone could fall victim to it.

"No, I'm not interested," Jane said right away but this brought a smirk on Cleopatra's face.

She had no idea how Kyle got these women under his spell but there was something strange about all of this.

Cleopatra couldn't help but think she was missing a vital piece of the puzzle, there was something that wasn't adding up.

Before Cleopatra could dig her nails into Jane, Kyle and Ella came through the door.

With the glare that Kyle shot Cleopatra, one would think he was going to snap her neck into two, he genuinely loathed her.

Ella noticed the look in her eyes and this confirmed what she suspected, something happened between the two last night.

"What is she doing here?" Kyle questioned; his tone was firm.

"This is my house, Kyle or have you forgotten?" Cleopatra responded.

Kyle could tell Jane was uncomfortable with her presence and knew it was time to leave.

"Jane, get ready we're leaving," Kyle instructed her and this was Ella's queue to step forward.

"I read the letter," Ella said and Cleopatra's smug expression faded quickly.

"What did it say?" Cleopatra questioned. Ella had a satisfied look on her face.

"They told me they loved me," Ella felt something heavy leave her chest the moment she said it out loud, years of hate gone, just like that.

"What are you talking about?" Cleopatra was in disbelief, there was no way that they wrote that or she would have gotten rid of it rather than give it to her.

"That isn't all…" Ella said before handing her sister the letter.

Cleopatra's face went from nonchalant to worried, she tried her best to pretend like it didn't bother but whatever was in that letter was enough to shake her.

"That is right, I get 5% shares of their company but not only that, I have access to everything I was once denied of" Ella said with a triumphant smile and Kyle smiled inwardly because this was the inroad he was looking for.

Fate had brought it right onto his lap but Ella didn't feel the need to state she had access to the family house. She could come and go as she pleased without Cleopatra's permission.

"You see sister? I win," Ella said and thus concluded their visit back home and Kyle had a foothold to expand his influence.

Jane was so excited for Ella, she looked happy, genuinely happy but once again, it was information she shared with Kyle first rather than her.

"This feeling again…" Jane thought to herself, trying her hardest to push it down.
