Chapter 80: Chocolate

When Eiden woke up, the first thing he saw was a figure sitting directly on top of him, straddling his stomach and facing him. Still groggy, he blinked several times to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. Unfortunately, it was exactly who he thought it was. Sasha.

Eiden let out a long yawn and stretched his arms above his head, ignoring her presence for a moment before frowning. "What's the idea?" he asked, voice low and raspy with sleep. Sasha chuckled mischievously, resting her hands on her hips. "I thought I'd wake you up in a cliché anime childhood friend style. You know, the good old classic."

Eiden scoffed, expression deadpan. "The childhood friend has to be pretty to pull that off." Sasha's smile immediately dropped. A dark aura seemed to gather around her as she stared at him with a flat, murderous look. "Excuse me?" she muttered.

Before he could react, she grabbed a pillow and shoved it hard into his face, pushing down with surprising strength. Eiden struggled underneath, muffled yells escaping as he flailed, arms pinned under the blanket. Air became scarce. He thrashed until he finally summoned enough strength to throw the pillow off and push Sasha away.

"Gah!" he gasped, sitting up quickly and catching his breath. Sasha sat beside him, adjusting her now-wrinkled clothes, a smug smile on her lips as if she'd just won a great battle. Eiden gave her a half-lidded glare. "What a way to wake someone up."

Sasha stuck her tongue out at him before hopping off the bed. "Breakfast is ready," she said playfully, already heading downstairs.

Eiden sighed, dragging a hand down his face. He got out of bed and washed up, still shaking off the remnants of sleep and that surprise pillow attack. Soon after, he found himself at the breakfast table with Sasha, eating in a relatively peaceful silence if he ignored the occasional smug glance she shot him.

After breakfast, the two of them left the house together. But as they reached the gate, Eiden's eyes narrowed. Standing just outside were two familiar figures Deuel and John.

The moment the pair spotted Sasha, their expressions stiffened. Eiden raised an eyebrow. What now? He stepped forward. "What?" John and Deuel cleared their throats simultaneously, adjusting their stances.

"We came to pick you up," they said in perfect unison.

Eiden blinked, lips twitching. Pick me up? More like to scope out the situation. Probably to see whether Sasha and I were still fighting so you could use the excuse of 'studying' at my place again... which just so happens to involve crossing paths with Sasha. Subtle.

He didn't expose them. Instead, he smirked. "I didn't know you guys cherished me this much."

And with that, the four of them began their walk to college. Sasha walked on Eiden's left, while Deuel and John took positions on his right. Neither of the two had the guts to switch places or even walk closer to Sasha, despite the obvious crushes they harbored. Eiden glanced sideways. What a cowardly duo.

Sasha chatted with him freely, her tone casual and warm, acting as though the other two didn't even exist. Deuel and John, for their part, had the body language of stiff statues, clearly too nervous to start a conversation with her.

Eiden, feeling the tension, slowed his pace a little to create space, hoping they'd naturally fill it and walk beside her. As expected, John noticed the opening but instead of stepping forward calmly, he began subtly nudging Deuel forward with his shoulder in an awkward effort to push him closer to Sasha.

Eiden facepalmed. Isn't this reaction a bit too exaggerated? They're acting like she's a final boss. When they reached the college gates, Sasha casually waved and parted ways, heading to her department building. The trio exchanged nods before splitting up too, each heading to their respective classes.

As Eiden approached his classroom, someone was observing him and glanced at him from a corner . She was none other than Lyra . She stood near the corner just outside the classroom door, half-hidden behind the wall, peeking toward him. Her hands fidgeted nervously, and in them was a modest-looking paper bag. She didn't approach just looked at him with anxious eyes.

Eiden didn't notice her at all . He was still groggy from the morning chaos. He yawned and stretched, stepping inside the class. As he entered, his eyes happened to catch a brief exchange between two students: a girl handing a chocolate-wrapped gift to a visibly shy boy.

Huh? The scene sparked something in Eiden's memory. He'd seen several such exchanges on the way here too girls shyly approaching boys, handing them wrapped treats, and then scurrying away, blushing.

He quickly pulled out his phone and checked the date. February 14. Valentine's Day?!

Eiden stood still, staring at the date as if it had betrayed him. I completely forgot about this stupid day. It was never important to him. Why would it be? He was always single. Always on the outside looking in.

Not that he was a stranger to receiving chocolates Sasha had given him chocolates a few times in the past. Though those were mostly out of pity… or boredom. Sometimes she didn't bother at all, calling it too much of a hassle.

This year, it was clearly the latter. She hadn't given him anything. His eyes idly drifted to some couples nearby exchanging "Happy Valentine's Day" greetings and chocolates.

Wait a minute… A sudden realization struck him. Would Lyra give me chocolate? The idea planted itself in his mind, and before he could stop it, a small surge of anticipation bubbled in his chest. It was stupid. Probably wishful thinking. But it would be the first time a girl other than Sasha gave him chocolates. Just the thought made his heartbeat quicken.

As he stood there spacing out, something entered his vision. A small, beautifully wrapped chocolate box held in a delicate hand. It was right in front of his face. Eiden blinked and slowly looked up. Standing there was… Linda.

His jaw nearly dropped .Linda??? Not Lyra ?

She stood before him, holding the chocolate out with a slightly hesitant expression nothing like her usual aloof demeanor. Her long hair was neatly brushed and she had a soft touch of blush on her cheeks. "Happy Valentine's," she said softly, not meeting his eyes . Eiden stared at her in disbelief.

What the f
