Chapter 252: Mortis
It was a realm of destruction, of war and bloodshed.
Mortis found himself in that realm. In a realm where even breathing could cause you damage, as everything was at war, everything was destroying itself, and everything was bleeding.
It was a combination of domains that Mortis had never seen in his entire life. And he had lived many, many years.
So he looked around curiously.
He was impressed by the power and talents of these two young women, and he could see it, that if they grew stronger and achieved the same rank as him…
'Then I will probably lose against them.' Mortis thought calmly as he raised his head and saw Red and Anya, both of them sitting on thrones. One was made of someone's conceptual power, and just by seeing it, Mortis felt a very particular feeling rise inside of him.
The feeling to go to war… with himself.
But it wasn't alone, as the throne of Anya gave him the same type of feeling, just this time it was to destroy himself.
He stayed silent for a while, puzzled about how these young women could influence his mind, even if he was inside their domain.
It was inconceivable.
And that's why Mortis finally decided to end this fight.
'I hate ridiculous surprises. Better finish this quickly and then at the same time kill all the rest of the intruders in my domain.' Mortis decided sternly before his face changed and became as hard as steel.
"I gave the chance to be greater than anything you all can imagine. I gave you the opportunity to look down on thousands of years and to control all of them… but you denied because of what?"
Mortis started to speak while at the same time walking towards them in a slow and steady manner.
The realm responded to him as hands of blood, destruction energy, and war surged toward him, affecting his body and also his mind.
And the closer he got to Red and Anya, the more these burdens became intensified.
But Mortis barely paid attention to them. He just kept walking.
The first two steps didn't make any sound.
The third step started to echo through the domain.
The fifth step started to make the ground tremble like an earthquake.
At the tenth step, the whole domain was shaking.
And he still continued, taking steps leisurely but with confidence and strength that destroy worlds.
Red and Anya didn't say anything. They simply stood from their thrones before the thrones dissolved and wrapped around their bodies like a second skin.
Soon, they each had armor and weapons in their hands.
For Anya, it was black armor with red threads weaving around it in a chaotic, erratic, and destructive manner. She held in her hand a spear made entirely of the very concept of destruction. First seen on MV4LEMP|YR.
Only by its presence, the surrounding space started to destruct itself.
For Red, it was red armor with black threads weaving around in a very orderly and mystical way, creating some characters that looked like a complete language…and it was.
Because Red had created a language for herself.
A language she called the Language of War.
A language for now, only she could talk.
In her hand was a big and heavy red greatsword.
They stood there, their hands clenching their weapons tightly.
The moment Mortis took his fifteenth step, causing the domain to corrode even further, Red and Anya immediately shot forward at him with speed faster than thought.
In one terrifying instant, they were already on him, their hands rising in a killing strike.
The domain responded to their will and made Mortis's body so heavy and conflicted with different kinds of power that he became unable to use his power properly for a second.
But that second was enough for the two women to strike him a million times.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Mortis was hurled backward at blinding speed, causing the air of the domain to tear itself apart from the sheer force.
Red dissolved into a pool of blood on the ground, while Anya took the sky with her wings.
She held her spear in a throwing position and, with surgical calculation and precision, she threw it at the place Mortis would soon be.
She anticipated his direction.
But Mortis was no amateur in battle. Before even reaching that spot, he created a spear made of corrosive shadow and threw it to intercept the incoming spear, before twisting his body unnaturally to avoid a strike coming from the ground.
He looked and saw Red, her bloody form pouring out from the ground.
He didn't say anything, just clicked his fingers, and a burst of fire exploded on Red's face. Then a black sword appeared in his hand as he slashed toward Red's neck, intending to kill her in one flawless strike.
TINK—
Mortis took a step back as his sword was deflected by a thrown spear.
Before he even had time to look toward the direction it came from, Anya was already in front of him, her hands shooting forward with blinding speed as she caught Mortis by the neck.
Immediately, her arm started to corrode and slowly crumble. But before her arm were completely destroyed,
She destroyed them herself.
"Explosion."
BOOOOOOMM!!
Anya detonated her own arms as Mortis was engulfed in a black flame of destruction that seemed to refuse to cease until it erased its target.
Anya took a step back, her whole arm and even half of her body destroyed. You could see at that point her organs and intestines visibly.
It was a disturbing sight.
But Anya's face didn't even falter. Instead, a small maniac smile sat on her lips, her eyes crazed as if, at this point, she didn't care about anything except destruction.
Even if it was on herself.
Red didn't look at her. She moved.
While Mortis was about to get out from the flame of destruction, the domain's space solidified around him, locking him in place for a moment, just enough time for Red to attack.
And attack she did.
The sky of the domain split open as a gigantic goddess of war with red hair and war-filled eyes appeared. In her hand was an absurdly large greatsword.
She pierced that greatsword into the unmoving Mortis on the ground, causing destruction to occur in this realm beyond measure.
Red took Anya in her hands and immediately distanced them from the heavy cloud of blood and destruction dust rising into the sky.
After a moment, the dust cleared, allowing the duo to see the scene in front of them.
It was Mortis.
His clothes were shredded in many parts, his hair disorganized, his body looking like that of a beggar, especially with the gaping hole in his stomach, and the black blood gushing out from his mouth.
He looked at Red and Anya calmly.
Then he sighed.
"Fine."
Those simple words made Red and Anya's bodies instinctively shudder with primal fear.
But the next words were worse. So much worse that their hearts dropped.
"Double Domain Activation: The Origin of Corrosion &…"
"…The Abode of Shadow's Son."
All hell broke loose.
