After the referee's whistle blew, a wave of cheers surged from outside the stadium.

"Karasuno! Karasuno!!"

After seeing Karasuno win the match, everyone in the ward broke into bright smiles.

The children even danced with excitement.

After all, they were all from Miyagi, and seeing their prefecture's team win was something to celebrate.

However, alongside the joy, the old Ukai sitting quietly in the ward wore expressions that were a little more complex.

Back when he was still coaching Karasuno, he and Coach Nekomata had always talked about meeting at Nationals…

But from the time he first became a coach to when he finally stepped down due to health, Karasuno and Nekoma never once crossed paths in a national tournament.

That became a deep regret for the two old rivals.

A lifetime of competition—and yet they never got to face off on the biggest stage.

It was almost cruelly ironic.

And now, regardless of the outcome, the Battle of the Garbage Dump—between the Cat and the Crow—had finally taken place at the highest stage of the Spring High Tournament.

For Coach Ukai, that alone was more than enough.

"Haha!"

At that thought, Ukai broke into a wide grin.

"Nurse! Help me bring that bowl of soup by the bed—I feel like eating when I'm happy!"

"But sir, your condition is still…"

Hearing that, a young nurse nearby quickly stepped in.

But when she glanced at the monitors beside Ukai bed, she let out a startled gasp.

"Your vitals are improving, Mr. Ukai!"

"I'll go contact the doctor for a full checkup right away!"

"Hahaha!"

"What a phenomenal match!"

On the coaching bench, Coach Nekomata had already stood up, applauding with a smile.

Watching his exhausted players walk off the court, he suddenly gave a deep bow.

"Thank you for a truly amazing game."

"No matter the outcome, you've helped fulfill a long-held dream of this old man."

"N-No…"

"Don't do that…"

Kuroo and the others were flustered as they quickly helped their coach back up.

They could tell—this time, Coach Nekomata was genuinely happy.

"We…"

Behind them, Yamamoto choked up, his voice trembling.

No one likes to lose.

Even though they'd braced themselves for the possibility, actually accepting it was something else entirely.

And the fact that Coach Nekomata wasn't disappointed or scolding them—it made the loss feel even harder to bear than any harsh words could.

"Haha…"

Sensing the sorrow weighing on his team, Coach Nekomata chuckled softly.

"It's okay to lose this one."

"Volleyball is a game of wins and losses."

"We can try to cut down on defeats, but we can't completely erase them."

"No one wins forever!"

"What we can do—what we must do—is grow stronger through each loss."

"Next time, we'll take it back!"

"Yes!!"
