Haikyuu - I Am A Different Hinata!

Chapter 29: Chapter 29 - Unexpected Encounters

The Karasuno players were about to wake up for another training session focused on receives and spikes, but Hinata and Kageyama woke up a bit earlier to go on a morning run.

"Hey, are you still worried about having to gain the team's trust to be the main setter?" Hinata asked while running alongside Kageyama.

"Yeah... even though I want to be the starting setter and I'm working to deserve it, I'm still worried about what our teammates will think about a freshman taking someone's spot who's been with them for years," Kageyama admitted.

"I think similarly... when we play official matches, I'll give it my all, and since I'm amazing, I'll probably score lots of points and they'll start calling me the Ace, and this might create problems like what happened when Tsukishima said that thing before," said Hinata.

"I get it, but I have to agree with Tanaka... you're getting way too full of yourself!" said Kageyama, hitting Hinata in the ribs, who couldn't dodge this time because he was too close.

"Why are you all so aggressive..." said Hinata while massaging the hit area.

The two continued talking while running until it was time for training to begin.

Hinata could be seen running and then jumping while receiving a set from Kageyama that came his way, and he did the same process of waiting a bit for it to pass the angle of his right hand until it reached his left hand, and this time he managed to do it at the right moment and hit the ball hard, successfully spiking with his left hand.

"Finally... it worked!" Hinata celebrated.

"Good spike, but your success rate is still terrible... don't even think about using this in real games if you don't improve it," said Kageyama.

"Would being ambidextrous really give Hinata such an advantage that he needs to work so hard to achieve it?" Kinoshita asked, observing the scene.

"Definitely. An ambidextrous player can attack from different angles and positions at the net, confusing the opposing blockers, being able to attack from both the wing and the middle with both hands, making it harder for the defense to read the attack," Sugawara analyzed.

"Oh, you're very knowledgeable, Sugawara... well, I hope he manages to master this skill!" said Kinoshita.

"Alright, it's time for the run!" shouted Ukai, who watched the boys leave the gym to do the run.

"They really have a lot of energy!" Takeda observed.

"Yeah, I saw Hinata and Kageyama running earlier before practice," said Ukai.

"Those two are working really hard, aren't they?" Takeda said cheerfully.

"Yes..." said Ukai, seeming very thoughtful.

By any chance... are you concerned about choosing players for the match?" Takeda asked.

"I'm still unsure about choosing the setters... it's a difficult choice because Sugawara has the experience and has been playing with the ace since their first year, and Kageyama has much less experience but more talent and will soon surpass that experience, plus he has better compatibility with Hinata. It's like I'm making a decision about who will lead the club forward, the more experienced ones or the rising talented ones," said Ukai.

"Could it be that you can't decide because it's Sugawara's third year?" Takeda questioned.

"Maybe... when I was in my third year, I started playing only a few times and it was really distressing, but I can't let myself be swayed by old emotions and be influenced by them!" said Ukai.

The Karasuno volleyball club members could be seen stretching and preparing to run.

"Right! The physical training I've been doing alone at home will be used now!" said Hinata.

"What do you mean?" asked Tanaka.

"I'm going to give it my all and finish this run in just a few minutes!" said Hinata.

"Alright, let's start... one... two... three," said Daichi, who after finishing the count, saw Hinata running ahead.

"Hey, Hinata! Don't get lost!" shouted Daichi.

"I am speed!" said Hinata while running non-stop until he heard a meow.

"Whoa, where did that sound come from?" thought Hinata as he turned toward a corner where he found a cat that came his way.

"Oh, what a beautiful cat! I love cats!" said Hinata while petting it, which then started walking in a direction.

"Looks like it wants me to follow," thought Hinata while going in the same direction as the cat, which turned another corner and went toward a boy who was sitting on the curb wearing a red jacket and red pants with a backpack.

"Oh, looks like Kenma is there! I'll say hi," thought Hinata while approaching the boy.

"Hey, is this your cat?" asked Hinata.

"No... it's just a stray cat," said the boy.

"Oh, I see!... what's your name? I'm Hinata Shoyo! You don't seem to be from around here," said Hinata.

"My name is Kozume... Kenma," said Kenma.

"You look lost!" said Hinata.

"I really am, I'm not from here..." said Kenma.

"At least you have your portable game, it would be boring to be lost with nothing to do... I also have one of those that I got recently... I'm addicted to Pokemon!" said Hinata.

"Really? I like Pokemon too!" said Kenma, seeming a bit more animated.

"Kenma!" shouted a guy calling for Kenma, who then stood up.

"Kuroo... see you, Shoyo," said Kenma, waving to Hinata while going with the guy who wore a black shirt and red pants and was holding the same red jacket that Kenma was wearing.

"Hey! Hinata, where have you been? I looked everywhere for you!" said Sugawara, who had found him.

"Sorry! I saw a cat and couldn't help but follow it since it seemed to want to show me something," said Hinata.

"Honestly... you can be quite an airhead sometimes," observed Sugawara while running along with Hinata.

"Oh, right... I almost forgot! I met some volleyball club members who might be from that Nekoma we're going to meet!" said Hinata.

"Really? Why do you think that?" asked Sugawara.

"I met a guy named Kenma who said he was lost and had volleyball shoes in his bag, and they were wearing red jackets and pants that looked like volleyball team uniforms," said Hinata.

"From what I know, the Nekoma volleyball club wears red clothes so it might be them... but it could be some other team we don't know about, let's talk about this later," said Sugawara, continuing on their way.
