Haikyuu - I Am A Different Hinata!

Chapter 26: Chapter 26 - The Fallen Ace

Hinata had just woken up and subsequently had his breakfast, did his morning ritual of stretches and physiotherapy exercises, then put on his Karasuno uniform and headed to class.

After the initial classes ended, it was break time, so Hinata went outside to have a snack and met with Kageyama and Sugawara.

"Hey, Hinata!... I need you and Kageyama to come with me to meet someone," said Sugawara, who led them towards the third-year classroom corridor, and arriving there, they could see a guy with his hair tied in a bun at the back of his head and with a short beard on his chin.

"Hey, Asahi! These are Hinata and Kageyama, both are our new club members!" said Sugawara.

"Oh, I see... you're the new freshmen," said Asahi, looking and getting a surprised expression while observing Hinata's height.

"This duo has been making noise recently, this year we managed to recruit really talented members!" said Sugawara.

"That's cool... so... give it your all," he said, putting his hands on Kageyama's shoulders.

"Aren't you coming back to the club?" asked Hinata.

"I don't think I can do that... I'm sorry!" said Asahi while leaving along with a guy who also seemed to be a third-year.

"What happened to him? Is he injured?" asked Kageyama.

"No... I think... maybe he doesn't like volleyball anymore," said Sugawara in a sad tone.

"But why?" questioned Kageyama.

"There was a match where all his spikes were blocked, and he ended up taking all the blame," responded Sugawara.

After classes ended, Kageyama and Hinata headed to the gym as practice was about to start.

"Hello, everyone!" said Hinata while entering with Kageyama.

"Hello!" said most of the members. "Hey, we're just waiting for Sensei to show up to start with club activities," said Daichi.

"Hey, Hinata! I need you to serve so I can try to direct the receive to that box over there!" said Nishinoya, pointing to a box that was near the net.

"Okay, but I don't need to go all the way to the other side, right?... I can just stay next to the net," asked Hinata.

"YEAH!" confirmed Nishinoya.

Hinata went to the side of the net, threw the ball up, and made a serve without jumping, just directing it to Nishinoya's left, who saw the ball's trajectory and dove, stretching his arm to receive and send the ball to the box.

"Rolling Thunder!" he shouted while doing the whole movement.

"HAHAHA, all that show for a common rolling receive," said Tanaka while laughing along with Tsukishima and Yamaguchi.

"I still don't understand why he shouts that when he receives," said Kageyama, confused.

"Hey, you three! I'm your Senpai, respect me!" said Nishinoya, which didn't have much effect in reducing the laughter that only ceased when the gym door opened again.

"Everyone! Listen to me!" said Takeda, trying to get everyone's attention.

"We'll have intensive training during Golden Week..." said Takeda.

"Yes... we still have many things to improve," said Daichi.

"But that's not all... on the last day of Golden Week... I got us a practice match!" he said, celebrating.

"That's awesome!" said Tanaka.

"But who will be our opponent?" asked Sugawara.

"The elite Tokyo school called Nekoma," said Takeda.

"Oh, so we can reactivate the old rivalry between our two teams from our old coach's time," observed Tanaka.

"THE BATTLE OF THE GARBAGE DUMP IS BACK!" shouted Tanaka.

"I don't know how you managed to convince them since they've been refusing us in recent years, but it is indeed a great opportunity!" said Daichi.

After the announcement of the practice match against Nekoma, the Karasuno team carried out practice normally.

The next day, Hinata and Kageyama could be seen heading towards the third-year classrooms.

"You're Hinata and Kageyama, aren't you? What do you need from me?" said Asahi.

"Well, I'm still new to the club, but it's already clear that our seniors trust you, and without your presence, the team's morale drops a lot, and we couldn't count on Nishinoya," said Hinata.

"That's a shame, but I really can't come back!" said Asahi.

"Man, I know you got blocked and all, but that's no reason to give up!... listen, I spent the last year working with my friends in the volleyball club at my old school, and we went from a

school that didn't have any decent players to a school that managed to go head-to-head with an elite school that had this genius idiot on their team!" said Hinata, pointing at Kageyama.

"Hey!" complained Kageyama.

"During the game, we lost by a good margin in the first set, but in the second, I didn't stop scoring, I got past their blocks, and I also blocked most of their attacks... I felt like nobody could stop me at that moment! But in the third set, I couldn't jump anymore and do what I love most, which is scoring... losing and ending our journey that way was devastating... being unable to jump for months was also horrible, but I didn't give up because of that!" said Hinata, making Asahi lower his head thoughtfully.

"Just think about it, the Karasuno team, according to the seniors, is stronger than ever, with your addition we can aim for great heights," said Kageyama, and then left along with Hinata, leaving Asahi with his thoughts.

The Karasuno members were gathered until Takeda entered the gym along with a guy with blonde hair.

"This is Ukai, who will be your coach from now on," said Takeda.

"Wait, coach?" questioned Daichi.

"Yes, I'll prepare you until the match against Nekoma, so I want to see what you're capable of! So for now, let's start with some basic volleyball exercises," said Ukai.

After a few minutes of practice, some adult individuals can be seen entering the gym.

"The Neighborhood Association Team... Has arrived!" said the individuals in unison.
