Chapter 24: Chapter 24 -Post-game conversations
After returning to Karasuno School, they went back to the gym.
"It was a great game with lots to learn from, but now it's time to rest!" said Takeda.
"Yes!" Everyone shouted in unison.
"But first, we need to clean this place!" said Daichi while handing out mops to everyone in the club, as he went back to talking with Takeda.
They started cleaning until the moment Hinata grabbed his mop by the front, leaving the round tip exposed, and turned to Tanaka.
"Touché!" said Hinata while touching the round tip to Tanaka's chest, using a classic fencing pose.
"Oh yeah, you want to fight fencing style? THEN BRING IT ON!" said Tanaka while also pointing his mop in a fencing pose. After that, the two began exchanging constant strikes, hitting one mop against the other non-stop.
"What are these idiots doing?" thought Kageyama while watching the scene.
"Hey, Yamaguchi, let's go far away... you won't want to be near these lunatics in a few seconds," said Tsukishima while moving to the back of the gym.
"So, you are truly a worthy opponent!" said Hinata while making a dramatic pause.
"Don't get cocky! You're still going to lose," said Tanaka, before feeling a presence behind him.
"YOU IDIOTS, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN, STOP THIS NONSENSE!" shouted Daichi.
"Yes, captain..." said both of them while returning to cleaning the floor with their mops.
After finishing cleaning the gym, they went to the convenience store they always go to.
"What do you mean it's not in stock!" complained Tanaka along with Hinata and Kageyama.
"The soccer club took all of that kind," said the blonde man who looks like a delinquent.
"Then let's just go home, I'm really hungry..." said Hinata.
"Listen to your friend, go home and eat something decent," said the clerk.
The three were leaving the store when the clerk called after them.
"Here!" he said while throwing in their direction the snack they had asked for.
"Thank you!" said the three enthusiastically while leaving the store and continuing to walk.
Some club members were talking while heading home in the late afternoon, these were Hinata, Kageyama, Tanaka, Sugawara, and Daichi.
"Man, we won but if that pretty boy had played from the start, we would have had a big problem stopping that serve of his, and to think that Kageyama was his junior... Hey wait!" said Tanaka.
"If you were one of the most talented players on such a strong team, why did you end up here at Karasuno? Come to think of it, why did both of you come here? From what I remember, Hinata also dominated last year," said Tanaka.
"Well, I didn't receive an invitation from Shiratorizawa... I even tried to enter through conventional means, but I didn't understand absolutely anything on that test," said Kageyama.
"But why Karasuno specifically? You had the option to join the other three strong teams in the prefecture," said Hinata.
"Yes, but I heard Coach Ukai would return to coaching, so I got interested," he continued.
"Oh, I think I've heard of that former Karasuno coach, right?" said Hinata.
"He's not just any coach, he took Karasuno from being a completely unknown team to nationals!" said Tanaka excitedly.
"And what about you? When we met again, you said it was a feeling..." questioned Kageyama.
"What do you mean?" asked Tanaka, who also attracted Daichi and Sugawara's attention.
"Well, I'm quite sensitive and I had a feeling it would be good for me to come to Karasuno... but of course that's not the only reason, it's close to my house and I also heard that Coach Ukai would return, and I know he has some fierce training that would be good for my development," Hinata lied shamelessly.
"That's true... it amazes me that you want to go through that," said Sugawara.
"A question, who is this person you mentioned would still return to the club?" asked Kageyama.
"Oh, he's our libero who was suspended and couldn't participate in club activities for a while!" commented Tanaka.
"Suspended?" said Kageyama reluctantly.
"Yes, he's just a bit hot-headed but he's our only prodigy... come to think of it, with you two here, now we have three! HAHA, it's over for all the teams in the prefecture, combining all our skills we'll be unbeatable!" said Tanaka practically jumping with joy.
"It's not quite like that, we have a lot to improve if we really want to be champions!" warned Daichi.
A short while later, Hinata arrived home.
"I'm home!" he shouted.
"Hello, son... how was your match... did you have fun?" asked his mother.
"Yes, we won and I got to face strong opponents!" said Hinata, who after dinner returned to his room and went to check his phone messages, which had some messages in a group.
"How are you?" asked Izumi in a message.
"I'm great! Yesterday we had our first practice match and I managed to score two points!" said Sekimukai with some laughing emojis.
"We haven't had any practice matches at Chikuida High yet, but I'm just happy to have made it into the club," said Izumi.
"Here at Karasuno, we had a practice match against Aoba Johsai and we won!" said Hinata along with an emoji wearing stylish glasses.
"YOU BEAT SEIJOH?!... Damn, but listen, when Johzenji faces Karasuno, we'll show no mercy!" provoked Sekimukai.
"Try becoming a starter first!" provoked Hinata while turning off his phone to sleep.
After dawn, he went to school to do his morning training before classes started... after entering the gym, he could observe Kageyama preparing to start serve practice... meanwhile Hinata watched him while doing his stretches.
Kageyama jumped and hit hard but not too hard because he wanted to control the direction to hit a water bottle that was at the back of the court. After the serve, the ball seemed to be going directly at the bottle until the moment a shadow rushed past Hinata, who was still doing his stretches, and entered the court to receive Kageyama's serve, which left him extremely surprised.
After looking at the person, Hinata could see it was Nishinoya, Karasuno's libero.
