Chapter 115: Chapter 115 - Tsukishima's request
After receiving a set from Sugawara, Hinata jumps to face a triple block from Tsukishima, Tanaka, and Ennoshita, who timed their jump perfectly to position themselves in front of Hinata's spike.
"BOOM!" Hinata's spike soars over the triple block and slams violently onto the floor with a thunderous sound.
"THAT'S IT! I THINK I'VE FINALLY GOTTEN USED TO THE CIRCULAR SWING!" Hinata said, smiling proudly at the power and force he managed to put into his spike during the ongoing practice.
"Damn! That last spike was like trying to stop an attack from Bokuto or Ushiwaka," Tanaka remarked, genuinely impressed.
"Finally! I couldn't stand watching you mess up all those sets anymore," Kageyama retorted.
"You got happy too fast, Kageyama..." Hinata said with a dark expression on his face, which immediately put Kageyama on edge.
"What are you talking about?" Kageyama asked.
"Well, I've gotten used to the circular swing with my right hand, but I'm still not ready with my left! So from now on, I'm going to focus entirely on getting used to my left hand!" Hinata said, grinning.
"Dammit!" Kageyama complained, already foreseeing that everything was about to repeat itself.
After practicing his spikes, Hinata was holding a water bottle, taking a sip, when he noticed Tsukishima walking toward him in his peripheral vision.
"Hinata," Tsukishima called, his face looking unusually serious.
"Oh, do you need something?" Hinata asked, slightly surprised since Tsukishima didn't usually talk to him directly.
"Could you... could you..." Tsukishima struggled to speak, his expression of disgust growing more intense, forcing Hinata to hold back a laugh.
"Could you help me with blocking?" Tsukishima finally managed to say, his expression shifting back to his usual disinterested look at the last moment.
"WHAT?!" Most of the Karasuno members shouted when they turned their attention to the conversation and heard Tsukishima openly asking Hinata for help.
"Well, if everything goes like in the manga, he's probably already training with Akiteru's team. I guess helping him won't hurt, but I can't just do it for free!" Hinata thought, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.
"Hmm... I remember when I asked you to come back to Karasuno, you came with that prank! So... it's only fair that during the entire training, you have to call me ACE!" Hinata said, still grinning.
"But you didn't do what I asked! Why should I do what you're asking?" Tsukishima argued.
"Because coming back to the team was the least you could do!" Hinata shot back.
"Enough! Both of you, shut up!... Hinata, don't be petty... just help him!" Daichi shouted, losing his patience.
"Fine! It was just a joke! But I'm not going to go easy on him," Hinata said, smiling.
After the spike practice ended, the players finished the training with a 3v3 match: Hinata, Kageyama, and Ennoshita against Tsukishima, Sugawara, and Tanaka.
"TAKE THAT!" Hinata said, delaying his left-hand training and hitting the ball from Kageyama's set with his right hand, sending it flying past Tanaka's arms and landing on the floor with an over-the-line attack.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU COVER THE OVER-THE-LINE SIDE?" Tsukishima snapped at Tanaka.
"LISTEN HERE! I TRIED, BUT I WASN'T FAST ENOUGH, SO SHUT UP!" Tanaka shot back, getting irritated.
"Geez, you're already fighting! At this rate, the training won't do any good!" Sugawara warned, trying to calm things down.
"True... we're using the whole court, and there were others who wanted to use it too. Asahi and Yamaguchi wanted to practice serves, and they gave up the court for us..." Ennoshita observed.
"Alright, enough talking... let's go again!" Hinata said, asking for another ball.
"Fine!" Kageyama said, setting another ball for Hinata, who jumped and faced the triple block once more. This time, he deliberately hit the ball with force, aiming for the side of Tsukishima's hands. Tsukishima felt the impact and watched as the ball landed out of bounds.
"Damn it! The same thing that happened during practice against Akaizawa... I don't like admitting it, but this new way of spiking really gives him more power, and it's really hard to stop!" Tsukishima thought, frustrated after being outplayed by Hinata once again.
"Hey, we still have over two months for you to improve that stinky block of yours. I'm going to crush it as many times as it takes for you to be ready for Ushiwaka and the rest of the national players, so don't slack off!" Hinata said determinedly, looking straight at Tsukishima.
"Tsk! I'm not going to keep losing to you for two months, you idiot!" Tsukishima replied, letting a bit of competitive spirit slip through.
Ukai, standing at the edge of the court, smiled at the scene until Takeda opened the gym door and appeared behind him.
"It looks like we'll be able to go to Kanto..." Takeda whispered near Ukai.
"Of course we can go. We've proven ourselves to be valuable practice partners. Even while testing new things, we managed to have a better overall score than Ubugawa and Shinzen," Ukai replied with a tone of pride in his voice.
"Well, that's true, but it's good that they see us that way. It'll be important to have a few more rounds of matches against those teams, especially to polish the new plays even further," Takeda observed.
"Yeah! But this time, we're going all out, and we won't fall behind Nekoma!" Ukai said, watching Hinata defeat Tsukishima once again, who seemed to grow more and more annoyed, increasing his concentration with each attack.
