"Then what? Are you all going to wait for slow death?" Madam Cui remarked. She looked at her family which comprised more than twenty people and questioned, "We have money, that right. But the grain warehouse is closed and we cannot use money anywhere. Even the warehouse in the next town is closed.

If we do not go with Song Yixu then we will not be allowed inside the Big River Town in case you all change your mind."

She closed her eyes and then stated, "Anyway, compared to slow and painful death where we get to starve to death, I think it's better to die in one go."

Her words caused a tormenting silence to fall over everyone in the family. They looked at one another and had to admit what Madam Cui said was indeed correct, even if they waited here, there was no way left for them other than dying slowly.

"But mother, what if the grain warehouse opens?" Cui Qing asked her mother. She hoped that the grain warehouse would open such that they wouldn't have to suffer like this anymore, and thus couldn't help but bring up the possibility.

"It won't open," Madam Cui spoke firmly causing the entire family to stiffen.

"Ho..How do you know that mother?" Cui Feng, the youngest daughter asked. The rest of the family also looked in the direction of Madam Cui who sighed. She did not want to tell her family because she was worried that they would get anxious but in the end, she had to bring it up.

Madam Cui recalled what the boss of the grain warehouse said to her and relayed, "The Imperial Court has called for the grains, now all the collected grain has gone to the Imperial Court. There is nothing left, the Boss of the Grain warehouse told me that it's likely that the Imperial Court is going to turn a blind eye to the situation outside."

"WHAT!?" The entire family was shocked.

Cui Wang spread her hands in front of her and questioned, "How can they do that? The people are suffering, it's simply inhuman for them to turn a blind eye to our sufferings!"

"What can you even do?" Madam Cui questioned with a calm voice, she looked at Cui Wang and the rest before asking, "Can any one of you fight that tyrant who sits on top of the throne? No, right? Then what is the point of getting angry like this?"

Madam Cui's words caused the entire Cui family to turn silent. She stood up from the chair on which she was sitting after speaking to her family and remarked, "I am going with her."

"Mother!"

"Mother, why?"

Her daughters asked one by one, however, Madam Cui raised her hand and then turned her head to look at them, "I am not willing to wait for death, since there is a possibility for survival then why not take it?"

"If I can survive like this why not?" Ying Nan turned to look at her mother with a bitter look on his face. He stared at her mother whose face was filled with heartache and pain before saying, "If I live with you, sooner or later I will die. I am already twenty-three years old, mers my age and have five to six children but you have not even searched for a match for me."

"I am left on the shelf and the only woman who wanted to marry was chased away by you, tell me what am I supposed to do?" Ying Nan questioned her mother with a teary face. "If this goes on then I will die slaving after that family of yours before finally, you decide to sell me off ti someone who is not worthy of me.

Don't think that I don't know why Father did not want to let me get married to Yixu, it's because you want to see me suffer! Isn't that right?"

Ying Nan turned the question to Old Master Ying who stiffened, he did not know that Ying Nan was aware of his little thoughts.
