Over New York, a massive aerial dreadnought—over 400 meters long—gradually lifted its advanced cloaking system, shimmering as it emerged into the public eye.

The first thing the world saw was the colossal Chaldea insignia etched into its underside, glowing with arcane runes and StarkTech overlays.

Director Fury's remaining eye widened in disbelief, his breath caught.

"This... this was mine!"

After a long pause, he slammed his hand against the table, grinding his teeth.

"But damn—good job. You actually restored that beast?"

He'd personally confirmed it was obliterated, bombarded during the joint offensive against Hydra. At the time, he considered salvaging the wreck, but dismissed the idea as a pipe dream.

Now, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s ultimate trump card hovered above New York once more, his emotions torn between resentment and awe.

"I figured it was useful," Shen He said flatly, then raised her voice across comms. "All teams, reinforce the dreadnought perimeter. Escort evacuees to safety! Tony, did you hear that? I need your automated legion to carve a clean extraction corridor."

"You can just ping J.A.R.V.I.S.," Tony replied, eyes fixated on the colossal ship. "He's synced with you. Now tell me—among your Chaldeans, who's the heaviest hitter?"

"Qi Mu, of course. But…" Shen He caught his meaning instantly. "You want to break the blockade, right?"

"Bingo. Still, I think we'll need a bigger party."

Tony fired two micro-missiles to bait the incoming swarm of mechanical Chitauri dragons. But they just kept coming, pouring from the wormhole like a metallic tide.

"Evac first," Shen He commanded, catching Ryougi Shiki mid-leap. "Thor—skyward. Time to take the fight to them."

"Hold tight, then."

With a rumble of thunder, Thor grabbed Shen He's free hand, Mjolnir spinning violently. The three of them soared upward into the chaos.

Fortunately, these metal beasts were more like heavy haulers than agile warcraft. Despite their size, their flight paths were predictable. The trio landed squarely atop one.

Time to strike.

Shen He twirled her storm-forged spear, unleashing gales of force that blew swarms of Chitauri infantry off the dragon's hide.

Shielding Shiki, she shouted, "Now!"

Her blade gleamed. She vanished in a blur, her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception revealing fault lines in the structure itself. A clean slash along a "death line" cracked through the mechanical shell—revealing not wiring, but living tissue beneath.

A biomechanical hybrid. A grotesque fusion of steel and flesh.

Shiki's voice was cold. "Its death line is above the cranial core."

Her eyes blazed sapphire, glowing with lethal intent.

In a flash, she carved through dense swarms of Chitauri like paper, slicing deep into the vulnerable artery. The dragon let out a distorted, animalistic shriek—then collapsed toward the ground, its propulsion failing.

"Thor!" Shen He shouted, catching Shiki midair.

"Got it!"

Lightning erupted as Thor called down a divine storm, vaporizing surrounding enemies. He carried the two back into the air and launched toward another dragon.

This time, they targeted the skull.

Mjolnir shattered the carapace, Shen He held off incoming Chitauri, and Shiki severed the core.

"Now this is what I call a raid!" Thor whooped, exhilarated.

He had never fought like this—guarding a living blade of death who cut through any defense, any behemoth. With him and Shen He covering her flanks, they were unstoppable.

They didn't wait. Onto the next.

Each mechanical dragon fell faster than the last. But the real threat shifted below.

The fallen dragons released dozens of Chitauri squads on the ground, overwhelming defenders.

"Block 3's losing ground—I've got civilians boxed in here!" Tony's voice crackled.

A rescue capsule jutted from the Chaldean dreadnought, evacuating survivors. But now Chitauri fighters flooded the air, and Tony's arsenal was almost depleted. Only his palm repulsors remained.

Even his Arc Reactor's reserves were draining fast.

"Where's Qi Mu?" Shen He asked, noting the swelling chaos below.

"South end—an old cathedral. Thousands down here. I'm holding them back."

Qi Mu Nanxiong's voice was calm but strained.

Alone, he held an entire quadrant with psychic barriers, his esper field stretching out like an invisible fortress. But even he had limits.

"Master, allow me to assist," Jeanne's voice came over the comm.

J.A.R.V.I.S. panned a visual toward her location.

The armored saint stood at the head of a band of armed civilians, waving her sacred flag high. A golden aura enveloped the group—Command Noble Phantasm: Luminosité Eternelle—bolstering their will, suppressing fear.

These weren't soldiers. Just people with scavenged guns, moving with military precision behind Jeanne.

Civilians inspired by divinity.

This was her Class Skill: Charisma of the Saint.

Her courage was infectious.

To those unaware of her mystical powers, she seemed like a miracle—hope incarnate.

And when alien firepower rained down, she deflected it with radiant barriers of light.

They advanced through abandoned streets, gathered stragglers, and repurposed alien plasma rifles. A grassroots resistance was forming in real time.

Eventually, her force linked up with Tony's position.

Tony blinked. "Well... this is awkward. You kinda stole the show."

Joan smiled without slowing. With her help, the sector was momentarily stabilized.

But barely.

"How do we get these people airborne?" Tony asked, looking at the clogged sky.

Violet Evergarden, Accelerator, and Joan Alter had already secured the perimeter of the Chaldean ship, ushering evacuees aboard. But more and more alien ships erupted from the portal.

Their sheer numbers overwhelmed even Chaldea's elite.

"They're watching us. They're adapting," Tony muttered.

Armors were falling. Drones exploded midflight. The enemy was relentless.

Then—

"Your savior has arrived," came General Ross's voice over the channel.

On the horizon, a wave of jet fighters swept in, unleashing missile volleys that burst into brilliant fireballs, scattering Chitauri formations.

Cheers erupted across military command centers.

"Yeah! Take that, you ugly bastards!"

"Let's show them what Earth's made of!"

Even civilians watching broadcast feeds erupted in hope.

But Shen He's eyes narrowed.

The alien aircraft abruptly shifted tactics, breaking off from the dreadnought to swarm the new arrivals. The U.S. fighters—fast but fragile—were hopelessly outmatched in aerial agility and energy weaponry.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Explosions lit the sky.

Despite the human missile barrages, alien reinforcements kept pouring. Chitauri fighters flew circles around the jets. Pilots screamed as their ships were torn apart in the air.

Superhero reflexes could dodge plasma. Human pilots couldn't.

"Ross, are you just feeding them corpses?" Tony snapped. "Pull them back—altitude! These are low-flying ambush units. Their shields suck, but our fighters are even worse!"

He spoke from grim experience—he'd accidentally destroyed a U.S. jet back during the Mark II trials.

Modern jets just weren't built for alien tech wars.

Ross said nothing. His face was pale. Over half the squadron had been obliterated in under two minutes—more than two decades of aerial losses compressed into moments.

"Guys," Shen He interrupted grimly. "Something new just came out of the portal."

She now stood atop the last fallen dragon, wind tousling her silver hair.

It wasn't another bio-dragon.

It was a sealed assault ship—sleek, matte-black, with weapon ports glowing blue.

An elite Chitauri battleship.

Unseen in the original invasion. But not surprising.

This was no isolated attack. The Chitauri were a galactic war machine. This was escalation.

"Thor!" Shen He barked. "Try to seal the rift. Use lightning. Buy time—we need to get everyone out!"

She didn't wait for a reply.

Grabbing Shiki, she leapt from the dragon's corpse—straight into the heart of the next battle.
