To be honest, Shen He is quite looking forward to the upcoming alien invasion.
Because it represents a broader cosmic tapestry.
Although many alien civilizations in the Marvel universe are fragmented or in decline—so much so that Thanos could rise as a solitary overlord—even so, they are interstellar empires, equipped with wormhole travel, quantum displacement, and advanced hive-based A.I. structures.
After Shen He brought Jeanne d'Arc to the living room, he found Maria Hill already waiting. Without preamble, he sat and got straight to the point.
"Fury didn't give you anything more?"
"No." Agent Hill shook her head. "But the signal was sent through a darknet quantum cipher—one only he and I can access."
She knew these secret moves were allowed only under Shen He's tacit approval. And with things clearly escalating, there was no longer any point in pretending.
"Then we wait."
After Shen He said this, he closed his eyes, making it clear he wasn't inclined to speak further.
In truth, he was mentally contacting other Servants stationed across the world. Qi Mu Nanxiong could arrive at any moment; he simply needed to recalibrate the timeline to sync with his departure, so nothing temporal would be disrupted. Lelouch, on the other hand, seemed caught in a decisive phase of his Zero Rebellion, and was unable to leave for now.
As he mentally conferred with them, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers arrived.
Shortly after, Dr. Bruce Banner submitted an urgent priority request for a video communication.
"Around 11 p.m. last night, our satellite array picked up a Class IV gamma radiation spike just south of the Yucatán Peninsula. Wait—are you all in a briefing?" Banner paused as he saw Tony, Steve, and Shen He assembled.
"That location... It matches the coordinates Fury gave for his distress signal," Coulson whispered quickly into Shen He's ear.
"Banner, how's your project progressing?" Shen He asked directly, his voice even.
"The deep-scan algorithm is nearly finalized," Banner replied, "but we're still lacking enough satellite bandwidth to monitor the whole globe. If we narrow our detection zone to one-tenth of Earth's surface, we can track gamma bursts in real-time."
Banner's initiative with Chaldea focused on global anomaly detection using energy fluctuation mapping. Gamma rays, especially, were his domain—he was the world's foremost expert in their behavior.
"In that case, Banner, you're authorized for tactical inclusion. Report to the villa immediately."
"Got it." Banner sensed the weight in Shen He's tone. Something big was unfolding.
Still, he deeply valued the life he now led—peaceful, scientific, hard-won—and didn't want to see it shattered.
"This guy's a beast," Tony muttered, unusually sincere. "In quantum modeling, I can't beat him. But that's only because I haven't tried."
Shen He rolled his eyes. Typical Stark nonsense.
"If gamma surges have already been detected," Shen He continued, "then it's almost certainly the Tesseract again." He looked at Hill, then Coulson. "What's Fury's ETA?"
"Ten minutes, sir," Coulson said, tablet in hand, eyes flicking over field updates. "He's in critical condition. Found under rubble with broken ribs and internal bleeding. Dozens of agents and soldiers at the scene didn't survive."
Shen He said nothing.
He had no intention of mourning faceless soldiers. Even Loki, with all his atrocities, could still gather cultlike supporters.
Equality of all beings was a pretty lie—one Thor might use as an excuse for righteous fury, but a lie nonetheless.
Ten minutes later, Qi Mu Nanxiong appeared beside him.
With zero ceremony, he vanished again.
Moments later, he returned—carrying an intact Nick Fury.
"It's been a while, people," Fury said stiffly, clearly uncomfortable.
A moment ago, he was on the brink of death—bones crushed, mind slipping. Now he was healed, his clothes pristine, and the environment changed.
Anyone else would've panicked. Fury didn't.
"Wait." Shen He gestured. "We're missing Banner."
"Banner?" Fury sat down, sharp eyes scanning the room. His expression darkened. "You already know, don't you?"
"If you mean that you summoned alien invaders," Tony said with a sly grin, "then yeah. Congrats on both saving and dooming the world."
"Son of a—"
Fury gritted his teeth.
It was precisely because of Shen He's early warnings that he fast-tracked Tesseract research... and now, it was clear that very push had sparked the disaster.
Worse yet, Shen He and his people clearly knew this would happen—and said nothing.
But Fury could do little. He no longer commanded S.H.I.E.L.D. like he used to. He lacked the personnel or assets to reclaim the Tesseract by force.
Soon after, Banner and Natasha Romanoff arrived.
"All right, Fury," Shen He said evenly. "Tell us what went down."
"Tesseract emitted a multidimensional rupture. Stable until last night."
Fury's face went from grim to grimace as he explained in detail.
"Aliens? Was it... Loki?" Banner asked, confused. He was the only one here still in the dark.
Everyone else glanced at Shen He. He had, as always, anticipated this.
"You're sure the name she said was Nebula?" Shen He asked Fury.
"I may have one eye, but I hear just fine," Fury said bitterly. "Blue skin, cybernetic implants everywhere. Strong, agile—my agents couldn't touch her. She took orders from Loki like a subordinate. Now spill—what else do you know?"
Fury hated being the least informed man in the room. As former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., that was once unthinkable.
Shen He ignored the jab.
"We stick with the original plan," he said. "Top priority is locating Loki. Banner, use your satellite grid to track the Tesseract's signal. Natasha—Barton may have acquired materials for Loki. Find him. Detain him. Jeanne will provide psychic traces to assist."
The storyline had officially deviated.
Shen He wasn't surprised. Loki wasn't stupid—he knew the Earth now had Chaldea, which had already destroyed the Destroyer armor. Coming alone would be suicide.
What Shen He hadn't anticipated... was that Thanos would send Nebula, his adopted daughter, this early.
