Chapter 2212: Investigating The Mindscape.
Legion-10 stated with confidence, "This flesh is whatever can be used to describe something that can't exist on its own."
He explained by saying, "It requires telepathy and spiritual energy to exist. That doesn't seem like something a real substance would need to exist "
"However, its dependency on spiritual energy and telepathy doesn't undermine its capabilities. Every portion of the virtual corpse is connected to one another and has thus created a large virtual space that spans the whole world."
Then he said, "In conclusion, if there is any such thing that is worthy of being the corpse of a god, this is it."
Legion-1 said, "Wow. How can such a thing exist? Who came up with the idea, and who was the first person to create a part of this virtual flesh?"
"We needed a part of the flesh to create our own portion. So where did the original virtual flesh that spread to become the large mindscape come from? I don't believe that this whole thing is natural."
Legion-2 agreed with what Legion-1 said. He even went ahead to buttress what Legion-1 said by saying, "Either this virtual flesh has a real basis in nature and is thus part of something real, or this divine flesh was created by a divine ability, which is why it needs spiritual energy to exist."
Legion-10 couldn't answer all of these questions or put their suspicions to rest. The best he could do was say, "For now, the virtual flesh depends on us. It doesn't have a will, much less a malicious one. It behaves like a symbiote at best, but in the future might truly become the vessel of a true god."
Then he said, "That's all I know and all we can know with our current capabilities. If we want to know more, then we need to gain more divine abilities and enter the mindscape to get more information or ask others."
Legion-3 suggested, "I recommend asking Gerald first. After all, he is the only one in this organization that we know about."
They took the suggestions to heart and decided to send a clone into the mindscape to gather more information, acquire the rank 4 divine flesh that they needed, and also meet with Gerald again.
Legion-10 was the one they sent for this mission. He was the one who sent his consciousness to explore the grey fluffy ring floating around their head.
When his consciousness entered the ring, what he found was a large grey world. The space within the ring wasn't small at all. In fact, they found the manifestation of the consciousness of thousands of people within the fluffy ring too.
It was a slight exaggeration to call the space within the ring a world. At first glance, the space seemed to be infinite. It was a large expanse of grey without end. But only a small portion of this space was occupied by anything.
This occupied space was not small. It was as large as a city. In fact, it was a city.
Legion-10 appeared on the outskirts of this city. There were large buildings in the distance. There were roads and vehicles moving through the city. There were also many people moving through the city.
The whole city was grey. Everything was in various shades of black and white. There was no other color to speak of.
There was no sun or apparent source of light, but the whole world was bright as if it was day. Of course, the hole was still grey, so the brightness was muted.
After looking at the city and their environment for a while, Legion-10 sent a message to Gerald. They could sense his mind as if he were nearby. This confirmed that the space in the virtual world didn't conform with the space in the fluffy ring.
Gerald received their message instantly in real life. He also sent his mental probe into the ring in his possession and appeared in the virtual world.
When he arrived, he appeared on the other side of the city. So the distance between him and Legion-10 was large, and there was a city between them.
Despite the large distance, he created a mental intent to get close to the one who sent him the message now and took a step towards them. When his feet touched the fluffy grey ground, he had appeared beside Legion-10.
Legion-10 saw his appearance in the virtual world. He looked the same, but he was wearing large, flowing robes. The clothes made him look like some noble or royal entity.
Legion-10, on the other hand, looked like a formless ghost. He was just a plume of shapeless mental energy.
Gerald laughed boisterously when he saw him. He said, "You look dreadful. You should know that you can change your appearance to look like anything you want."
Legion-10 said, "In that case, I'm fine with this."
Gerald asked in confusion, "Why? Why would you look like a ghost if you can look like anything you want?"
Legion-10 replied, "If we can change our appearance to anything, then our appearance in the virtual world isn't real and shouldn't matter."
Gerald shrugged. "Suit yourself. Now what do you want to do first, take a tour of the mindscape or go and get the divine flesh you wanted?"
Legion-10 replied, "Both. Take me on the tour while we go get the divine flesh."
Gerald shook his head in disapproval and said, "Epic beings shouldn't live like this. What's the rush? We should take life easy."
Legion-10 also disapproved of such a laid-back attitude. He said, "It isn't about being in a rush or being in a hurry. It is about using the most efficient way to achieve a goal."
"It is about avoiding waste of time and effort. If we can do both things at the same time, we shouldn't waste time doing them one after the other."
Gerald disagreed with that outlook. He said, "It isn't a waste of time if we are enjoying ourselves. Everything is worth it for pleasure."
