Chapter 682)
{Good evening to football fans from around the world from the Allianz Stadium here in Turin, Italy} The commentator began as the referees led the players of the two teams out of the tunnels.
{This is it, Matchday 37 of the Serie A season, and what a colossal fixture we have here in front of us}
{Uventus and Inter Milan. A historic rivalry soaked with pride and pressure… but tonight, the stakes are higher than ever}
{One point separates the two sides. Uventus lead the table by the slimmest of margins. If they win tonight, the Scudetto stays in Turin for yet another season, but if Inter spoil the party, we could be in for the most dramatic final days Italian football has ever seen}
{The Allianz is packed, the fans roaring, putting their all out for their team tonight and the air is thick with tension, expectation and excitement. You can almost feel the heartbeat of a nation pulsing here in this stadium tonight}
{Eleven warriors stand on each side, generations of silver and scars behind them and ninety minutes to decide who claims the crown} the commentator didn't stop for a second, watching the players lineup side by side in front of the fans.
{Just listen to that crowd! This isn't just football, this is gladiatorial. This is a myth being unraveled and we're about to see who will have the last laugh}
{Here is a glance at the line-ups of the two sides} the commentator said and on the screens at the stadium and at home, the line-ups of the Uventus side opened up.
{For Uventus, we see them returning to their usual 4-4-2 formation after the manager's experiments the last time out against Sassuolo, where they had an easy, 3-1, victory}
{Sczesny starts in goal with Chiellini and De Ligt guarding him in the two center back positions. On the right and left fullback positions are Cuadrado and Alex Sandro, respectively}
{In the center of the park, we have a midfield partnership of Rabiot and Bentacur. They will be looking to control the center of the midfield with some support from the wide midfielders}
{On the right side of midfield is Dejan Kulusevski, a fan favorite and one for the highlight reels. The Uventus fans will be looking for him to keep up his good form}
{On the other side of the park is Chiesa who despite his recent run of bad performances is still getting a runout by the manager. He is the team's fourth highest goal scorer, but his recent performances haven't shown that. Perhaps today's game will be the motivation he needs to step back on the purple patch}
{Up front for Uventus are Morata and Ronaldo and their quality needs not to be said. So much silverware between the two of them and the Uventus manager would be counting on them to lead from the front yet again with much needed goals}
{The Uventus bench is just as star-studded and the manager has plenty of substitution options to change the game when required} the commentator said and the cameras zoomed in on Jason's face as he sat there, a fist supporting his cheek as he stared almost blankly at the field.
{On the Inter Milan side, they are as always, using the 3-5-2 formation they are famous for and here's how they line up}
Once again, the screen changed and began displaying the Inter Milan's formation.
Handanovic was the goalkeeper, the three centerbacks were Stefan de Vrij, Skriniar, and Bastoni.
Ivan Perisic was the left wingback, while Hakimi was the wingback on the right side of the pitch.
The three center midfielders were Brozovic, Barella, and Vidal, while upfront were Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
After the lineups were shown, the players had already completed all the pre-match formalities and were already in their positions, waiting for the referee's whistle.
They weren't the only ones waiting either, as every football fan in the stadium and those watching the game from anywhere around the world were also waiting eagerly for the referee's whistle to go off and many could not help wishing for the clock to move faster to accommodate their craving for exciting football.
The referee didn't keep them waiting for too long and soon put the whistle to his mouth.
*Fweeeeeeeeeeeee!!!*
{And we're away!}
{Uventus. Inter. For the title. For the glory. For everything!} the commentator said excitedly as the ball began moving swiftly among the players in blue and black striped shirts.
The Inter Milan players instantly began moving the ball up the field and into the Uventus team's half of the field.
Despite this being a match that held in the balance the winner of the league title, neither team showed any caution beyond the necessary. In fact, it felt more like all caution was thrown into the wind and the two teams charged at each other with the intent to decimate each other.
This was usually how the match between the titans in Italian football usually was. Physical and feral… almost like two desperate sides who wished to score goals by tearing each other up.
It was one of the reasons why Pirlo had Jason on the bench despite him being the better choice over Chiesa.
Pirlo judged that Jason was in no way ready for such intensity, especially when the stakes were this high. Past experience even supported as Jason had once been injured by Skriniar last year, though he was playing on a different team.
If Jason was on the field with a fully energized Inter Milan squad as an opposition and he tried dribbling through them, the opponents might very well ignore the ball if it was too difficult to get to and attack Jason's legs instead out of sheer spite and that could end very badly for Jason.
Chiesa had more experience in Italian football and was more physically solid than Jason was, being an Italian himself so Jason couldn't compare in that aspect.
Pirlo needed a more outgoing approach in the early period of the game. Being cautious would only backfire, as it could lead to losing the ball in very dangerous positions more often.
