Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 954: Headmaster's Office

Adam returned to his manor shortly after. If he wished to go to Saratoga, then the quickest way was through this underground laboratory.

After all, nestled somewhere in the chamber lay a telerportation circle that led him directly to his underground vault underneath Saratoga.

This underground vault—and everything inside of it—was naturally his reward after completing all the trials of the Raven Inheritance in the past.

A brilliant light flashed in a small corner of the cavernous underground chamber. Moments later, Adam appeared on a patch of cold stone, etched with intricate runes forming a mystical circle.

The raven-haired youth felt disoriented for a split moment. He shook his head slightly and then took in his surroundings.

Instantly, a wide smile appeared on his face.

"So sweet, so beautiful, so perfect."

No matter what storms raged outside, whenever Adam came here and glanced at the mounds of treasure sprawled out before him, his heart would bloom with pretty flowers.

His shoulders loosened as he walked through the vault, casting his happy gaze everywhere.

"Gold here, gold there, gold everywhere."

A gray light flashed, and Valerian appeared in his arms. His expression was even more gleeful than Adam's.

"Myu~"

"I know, right?" Adam chuckled.

The young dragon got ready to dive into the nearest mound of gold, but Adam caught him mid-air by the scruff of his neck.

"We don't have time to fool around, Val."

Valerian turned around and gazed at Adam with indignation. But seeing the stern look in his eyes, the young dragon had no other choice but to turn into a gray flash of light and silently return to his spirit sea.

Adam shook his head slightly, then made his way out of the vault. Before leaving through the towering iron gates of the vault, however, he made sure to cast a concealment spell on himself.

It was prohibited to cast spells within the walls of the castle. Of course, this was for the general safety of the students as well as the faculty members.

But Adam didn't care about that at the moment.

He feared that if he didn't conceal himself with magic, it would take him forever to reach the Headmaster's office, which was situated at one of the highest points in the castle.

After all, there would be no shortage of students—and faculty, for that matter—who would surround him and shower him with praises, try to get him to sign something, or simply want to be near him.

The Dark King… had a lot of fans.

So, Adam believed that this was the best choice for him. Simply avoid everyone and directly head to the Headmaster's office.

As he walked through the ancient corridors of this prestigious institution, light bent around him and shadows covered his steps.

He looked at the students passing him by in a hurry, urgency etched across their faces. They were all busy due to the Grand Magus Tournament. They had a lot on their plate, needless to say.

Adam recalled his early days in the castle. At the time, he was kind of a loner who always preferred to spend time in his own company. The only friend he had was Daneli. The rest were all acquaintances whom he barely met once a fortnight.

But now, the entire castle… the entire city wanted to get to know him. They wanted to befriend him so they could show off to others.

Of course, they really did respect and admire him.

But it made him wonder.

How strange…

Is it me they look up to? Or is it the Dark King?

As these useless, or perhaps profound, thoughts emerged in the recesses of his mind, he arrived at the base of the grand staircases that overlapped one another, leading to random locations throughout the ancient castle.

Here, all reason seemed to fail. Thus, guided by his intuition alone, Adam finally arrived at the entrance to the Headmaster's office.

He stared at the stone statue of a raven perched atop the doors, spreading its wings as if welcoming visitors. Strangely enough, he had this vague feeling that the eyes of the statue were staring at him.

Adam couldn't help but feel a little anxious in his heart.

Firstly, this was the first time he was visiting the Headmaster's office. The first time he had met the man was in Professor Whitaker's office. At the time, he was still a Mana Liquefaction Magus.

Secondly, and most importantly, Adam did not know how the powerful Mana Core Magus would react after hearing what he had to say.

There were very few people in this world he could trust. They could be counted on one hand. Headmaster Marcus Blackwood was surprisingly one of them.

Despite meeting him only once, the youth knew he could trust him.

After all, the man had received the acknowledgment of Dendar Saratoga, the founder of Saratoga Castle!

Receiving the first Headmaster's acknowledgment meant that the person had Saratoga Castle's best interests at heart.

That the person was a worthy Magus recognized by the remnant will of the man the world knew as the Night Magus.

That was all Adam needed to know.

So, he had ultimately decided to tell the Headmaster everything—well, almost—about the Cult of Bones and the possible dangers that would arise in the upcoming Grand Magus Tournament.

There was also another thing he needed to talk to him about… and he truly hoped he could get the man's permission for it.

But that depended on how the Headmaster reacted to what Adam was about to divulge.

Taking a deep breath, he raised his hand to knock on the door.

But in the end, he didn't have to.

With a loud, resounding creak that echoed through the dimly lit corridors behind, the towering doors opened, allowing Adam to enter.

Of course, he knows I'm here… He thought to himself as he awkwardly lowered his hand.

He steeled his nerves and finally stepped inside.

The office was a grand and enigmatic place, filled with the air of mystery and magic. The room was spacious and circular with high arched windows that allowed natural light to filter through.

The walls were lined with wooden shelves filled with ancient tomes, strange apparatuses, and magical artifacts.

At one end of the room stood a massive desk made of oak. It was covered with parchment papers, quills, books, and old trinkets.

And there, on the other side of the table, sat the Headmaster of Sartoga Castle and the Lord of Ravenfell.

One of the most powerful Magi in the Ulier Continent…

Marcus Blackwood.
