Chapter 1102: Two Tyrants
Fueled by boundless fury and hatred, Adam suddenly teleported inside the vast crater. Moreover, his position was very precarious… for he had appeared right in front of Daggett!
At once, all the participants inside the crater were stunned by this sudden development. Berger's heart sank, and he roared in apprehension, "Boy, get out of there!"
At the same time, Blackie' eyes widened in astonishment as well. He had never expected Adam to act so recklessly. In the next instance, his figure turned into a black flash, and he rushed towards the cultist and the undead knights.
Meanwhile, Daggett was the most surprised out of everyone present. He had never expected Adam to deliver himself to him. According to him, the youth had just made things far easier for him.
The news about Mathilda Whitaker's death had caused a furious storm in the Dark King's heart, turning him reckless and irrational… that was what Daggett thought.
Adam's eyes were glowing with a divine, holy light, even as streams of blood poured steadily from them, painting a grim contrast between sanctity and suffering. Moreover, clenched tightly between his teeth was a thin, black stick, invisible to all.
Anger, pain, sorrow, hatred… and hints of madness. Adam's being was filled with these intense emotions. A large amount of mana was gathered in his hands, one palm facing Daggett, while the other facing upward.
And then… he unleashed a devastating attack of the Hand of Doom!
But before he could even do that, the two Rank 4 Knights standing on either side of Daggett had already rushed towards him, their swords coming down on his torso. At the same time, the cultist, too, struck with his right hand.
There was no way Adam was going to be able to defend against the combined attack of not one, but three Mana Core-level beings! Furthermore, Berger and Blackie were far away from him and wouldn't be able to provide support in time.
No matter how one looked at it, Adam's actions were a recipe for total disaster. Everyone thought that he had allowed his emotions to take control and attacked the enemy out of lapse of judgment.
However…
Just when the two undead knights' blades were upon him, Adam's eyes gleamed with a dangerous light, and he whispered in snaketongue:
"Expand."
He spat the thin, black stick from his mouth, and in the very next instant, it shot out to an immense length, its golden-capped ends smashing into both undead knights with bone-crushing force.
In a single motion, the undead creatures were hurled away, the Staff of Calamity's golden-capped ends smashing them to the crater's ring with devastating force.
Almost simultaneously, Adam intercepted Daggett's vicious blow. The cultist's fist ended up colliding with the shaft of the magical staff in a deafening impact, resulting in a thundering sound that echoed throughout the crater.
Daggett could feel the bones in his right fist fracture slightly after coming in contact with the shaft. He didn't know what the weapon was made of, but whatever it was… it was far stronger and valuable than anything he could ever imagine.
As for Adam… he was hidden from Daggett's sight because of the sudden increase in the staff's size. It was like a giant black pillar that separated the two.
But not for long.
The raven-haired youth's eyes blazed with a divine light, and he vanished from this world, only to reappear behind Daggett an instant later, his attack flowing seamlessly as if teleportation had not interrupted it one bit.
Adam poured every ounce of rage, grief, pain, and hatred into his next strike. His roar tore through the air, a primal cry that seemed to shake the very heavens themselves, and then… he twisted both his hands in a savage, unrelenting spin.
Hand of Doom: Billowing Strike!
The muffled hiss of air slicing against itself was heard, followed by an unseen shockwave rippling outward. And then… a single, almost gentle thud broke the silence.
Berger, who was mid-air, found his eyes slowly widening in astonishment. Even Blackie's movements slowed down, his dark eyes flashing with shock. Daggett, too, felt a level of disbelief he had never felt before.
Only Adam was the one grinning from ear to ear like a madman.
After all… that soft thud from earlier was the sound of Daggett's severed arm falling to the ground. Adam knew that the Billowing Strike, which would have turned ordinary targets to mere blood stains, wouldn't have the same effect on a Mana Core Magus.
And thus, he focused all that violent force into a single point - the target's shoulder.
However, Adam wasn't done yet.
Daggett was still recovering from the shock of having his arm severed. It was only a brief moment, but that was all Adam needed.
Standing mere inches from the cultist, the youth spoke in a low, bewitching voice, his words dripping with irresistible command:
"Look into my eyes..."
Daggett turned his head in a daze, gazing into the beautiful lotus patterns blooming in the youth's dark and murky eyes. While he was in a momentary state of confusion, Adam made his move.
Rank 3 Spell: Drowse!
In an instant, Daggett's eyelids felt heavy. Exhaustion washed over him, threatening to overwhelm him. Moreover, the blood gushing out from his shoulder stump was making him feel extremely dizzy. He couldn't help but stagger on his feet, wanting nothing more than to take a nap.
And it was at that moment, the Berger had finished weaving a series of hand seals and finally attacked.
Rank 4 Spell: Terror of Imagination!
In that moment, Daggett's eyes became blurry. Berger's spell had tapped into his nightmares and created an illusory manifestation of his deepest fears. And very soon, Daggett's face distorted into a hideous expression filled with abject horror.
And now Daggett stood completely unguarded, fighting against the horrors of his imagination, rather than the real enemies that stood before him.
Adam's eyes gleamed with a cold light as he immediately made his next move. Several tiny serpents burst from the ground and sank their fangs into Daggett's legs, their venom paralysing him momentarily.
"Shrink!"
The Staff of Calamity then turned into the size of a toothpick again, allowing Berger enough space to make his move as well.
And then…
Both master and disciple moved at the same time.
Berger pressed four fingers on Daggett's back, aligning them in a precise vertical line. Mirroring the motion, Adam placed the four fingers firmly against the cultist's chest. Then, both of them delivered a devastating one-inch punch, while at the same time rotating their arm and fist.
Hand of Doom: One Hit!
A deafening boom tore through the battlefield as the two practitioners of the Astral Tyrant Manual unleashed their identical, devastating strike. The technique's sheer penetrative force was absolute, unyielding, and unstoppable.
And so, when their attacks met at the center of Daggett's body, his upper half was simply erased from existence.
Flesh and bones were obliterated, and the soul… was devoured!
All that remained was the cultist's lower body, swaying for a brief, eerie moment before collapsing. Above the carnage, Berger hovered in the air, his fist locked in a solid bump with Adam's, who stood unflinching on the ground, bloody tears still trickling from his eyes.
And just like that...
Daggett, a Mana Core Magus of the Cult of Bones, met the fate he deserved.
