Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1100: Familiar Voice

Edward had long since noticed what was happening to Adam. He witnessed with his own eyes his friend being attacked by the Mana Core cultist, then immediately restrained.

However, there was nothing he could do about it. Not for the lack of trying, of course. It was because of the simple fact that he was too far away from Adam.

When the raven-haired youth put away his staff and donned his gauntlets, he went on a diabolical killing spree, creating a macabre death zone around him. Even his own allies were scared to get near him, and so they stayed away from him.

Only the cultists dared to enter the death zone, and then… they became part of that death zone. Due to that reason, there was a large stretch of land around Adam, strewn with nothing but corpses.

So when Daggett appeared behind him, none of his allies were able to make it in time.

"Adam!!" Edward roared, his blue eyes flickering with fear. He mowed through the crowd of cultists, killing them as he desperately rushed towards his friend.

But there were too many enemies. And the distance between them was too much.

"Adam—" He screamed in desperation. This time, however, he was interrupted by a swarm of cultists who pounced upon him.

Soon, Edward could no longer afford to worry about his friend because he was surrounded by enemies from all sides.

"Damn it!" He rolled across the blood-stained ground, dodging a hail of spells, only to be met by a fresh barrage of attacks from another group of cultists lying in wait to ambush him.

He wasn't the only one desperate to free Adam, though. Several Magi of Acadia had witnessed the raven-haired youth being caught and restrained by the powerful enemy. They all moved towards the sprawling death zone the youth had created.

But strangely enough, the cultists moved like they were one single organism. All of them abandoned what they were doing and staunchly prevented the Magi from appearing anywhere near Adam.

After they learned that there was now a Mana Core-level cultist on the battlefield, fighting by their side, the army of the Cult had found a second windfall. They all erupted with newfound strength, and their eyes blazed with murderous fury.

In but a few moments, they had created a large wall around the death zone, preventing anyone from crossing through. A bizarre situation had suddenly occurred on the battlefield.

Daggett stood over Adam, who was bound by magic, in a space utterly devoid of life for over a hundred meters in every direction. Nothing remained within that radius but heaps of corpses. Beyond them, the cultists had formed a wide perimeter, holding the Acadian Magi at bay and preventing any breakthrough.

Even Daggett was slightly surprised by the sudden change in battle tactics. No orders were given by the Acadian higher-ups. They all seemed to subconsciously shift their attention towards freeing Adam.

"Hoh," the cultists exclaimed. "Would you look at that? It would appear that these people truly care about your life. Tsk, tsk, what a pity, though…"

He turned his gaze towards Adam, then grinned maliciously. "I will slaughter them all just like I did that witch."

But Adam paid no heed to those threats. His mind was a mess, and tumultuous waves were churning in his heart. It was beating so rapidly that he thought it might explode. This fear, this anxiety, this… everything, threatened to consume him whole.

The Laughing God continued to whisper, and the wondrous white lotus continued to suppress those ravings.

Amidst it all, Adam found it difficult to form coherent thoughts. He couldn't believe what he'd just heard. And no matter how much he wanted to refuse to believe it, he knew for a fact… Daggett wasn't lying.

Professor Whitaker had truly perished.

No, no, no, no, no! He repeated the same words in his mind. His expression was frozen, and tears continued to trickle down his bloody face.

It can't be! It can't be! No! She cannot die! No, she cannot…

No... I... I just met her...

Professor… I'm sorry…

I'm sorry…

Soon, the fear, the desperation, the anxiety, all of it twisted into something dark, something sinister, something otherworldly.

The Laughing God whispered.

But the Eternal Soul Lotus suppressed the flaw.

Yet, the mask's insidious intentions somehow still seeped through Adam's mind. A faint glint of madness appeared in the depths of his dark, murky eyes.

"Kill… kill… kill…" he muttered in a daze, gnashing his teeth. "Kill… kill… kill…"

Then, he started to thrash around like a wild beast, trying to free himself from the magical bindings. However, it was a result of a Rank 4 Spell, and not so easily countered.

Daggett took great delight in seeing Adam break down before his very eyes. "The mighty Dark King reduced to a pitiful dog," he said, his tone laced with mockery.

"Give up. I have sealed your mana channels. You will not be able to cast any—"

His words got stuck in his throat when he saw something very bizarre. Adam's bloodshot eyes glowed with an otherworldly divine light. Soon, his body started to phase in and out of reality!

All the while, Adam continued to thrash on the ground like a madman, trying his best to free himself from the magic binding him.

His eyes blazed with hatred and fury, and he spat through gritted teeth, "Mark my words, Magus… I will fucking end you! I will murder you! I will slaughter everything you hold dear! I will wipe you off this planet! You hear me! I'll fucking kill you!!"

His words echoed across the battlefield, causing people to shudder in fear. Those words cut deep… deeper than even the sharpest of blades. Others could feel Adam's fear, his rage, his agony through those words.

Meanwhile, Daggett, who was the target of those threats, couldn't help but frown. What drew his reaction was the white patterns glowing in Adam's eyes and the way he flickered in and out of reality… as if he was trapped midway through a teleportation!

He was stunned, to say the least. How could a Magus try to initiate teleportation when their mana channels were sealed? It was supposed to be impossible.

Is he trying to forcefully remove the seals from his mana channels? Dagget thought in shock.

This lunatic! Is he trying to cripple his own arcane path?!

He immediately stepped forward to deliver a blow to Adam and knock him out.

But no, Adam wasn't trying to cripple himself like Daggett assumed.

He was not trying to use mana at all.

Instead… he was using spiritual energy!

Driven by rage, hatred, and frustration, Adam was tapping into the power that remained latent within himself. So what if his mana was sealed? There was another source of arcane energy inside his body.

And so, Adam was trying to achieve a precise act of teleportation, one that would teleport his body away while leaving the magical seals behind.

As he saw Daggett's fist enlarge in his vision, he roared in anguish, "I will kill you! Mark my words, Magus! I will kill you even if it's the last thing I do!"

While he kept hurling threats, he was secretly working to free himself. He had to before Daggett knocked him out cold.

And then… Adam succeeded!

Just as he was about to flicker out of the material world, freeing himself in the process, and fight Daggett, his eyes gradually widened in sheer disbelief.

He heard someone's voice directly inside his head.

It was sweet, it was wonderful, it was oh, so familiar!

Adam's eyes glistened with intense emotions. Then, he quickly changed his battle plan.

In the next moment, several things happened all at once.

First, Adam disappeared from his spot, leaving Dagget's fist to smash into nothing but empty ground.

Second, serpents burst from the cracks on the ground underneath Daggett's feet, shooting towards him and coiling tightly around his legs, arms, and torso, momentarily pinning him to the earth.

And finally…

The dark skies above Ravenfell were suddenly lit by a blinding light. The clouds scattered instantly under an unnatural shockwave, revealing a lone figure hovering high above the Northern Quarter. The source of the incandescent light… was the mana gathered in his fist!

And then… the figure spoke, his voice thundering across the entire city of Ravenfell:

"You damned cultist! How dare you lay a hand on my disciple?!"

Everyone below froze, unable to believe their eyes. Even time seemed to stand still, as if the very world were holding its breath.

Berger's eyes blazed with murderous fury as he gazed at Daggett.

And then…

He flew straight towards the Mana Core Rank cultist like a blazing star of destruction, unleashing his punch with the full, unrestrained fury of his power.

HAND OF DOOM: DIVINE METEOR!!!
