Great Mangaka

Chapter 93: New Learning

Shiori, who had spent a day playing on the beach, seemed tired. On Sunday morning, she and Takumi accepted Hirano-sensei's guidance.

One of them practiced the piano and the other sang. Their cooperation was unexpectedly good, and Hirano-sensei's gaze towards Shiori gradually changed. He discovered that the girl's talent for singing was no less than Takumi's for the piano.

"How is that possible?" he asked.

Shiori and Takumi were from Saitama Prefecture. 'What kind of magical place was that? It was understandable for one genius to appear, but it was incredible that Hirano-sensei had two at the same time.'

Takumi also found it strange, but unfortunately, Shiori answered his questions curtly: "My grandfather is a martial arts master. As a child, I learned martial arts and ventriloquism from him, so I'm better than ordinary people."

Hirano-sensei seemed to accept the statement. Takumi didn't believe it, but he didn't ask further. Shiori didn't have the same interest in music as he did, which greatly dissatisfied Hirano-sensei. 'Others dreamed of being stars, but these two children were so unusual!'

Hirano-sensei tried to persuade him in every way, but in the end, there was no result. Not even Aika agreed to give him a clear answer. So in the afternoon, when the group was about to return to Osaka, Takumi sat in the co-pilot's seat, and Hirano-sensei, who was about to drive, was still very displeased.

"I won't practice the piano anymore..."

Seeing him like this, Takumi felt that sooner or later he would have to say it, so it was better to finish it today.

"What?!"

Although he had been angry for a long time, Hirano-sensei was still furious upon hearing the news. He pulled the handbrake and turned to look at Takumi angrily: "Why? If you can't solve it and become a musician, can you ignore what I told you? You'll be able to decide for yourself in two years!"

Hirano-sensei believed that in two years, Takumi would understand his strenuous efforts.

But Takumi continued to shake his head: "That's not why. I've already achieved my goal of playing the piano. There's not much point in continuing to practice."

He had learned music composition and all piano techniques. He could practice the rest at home. There was no need to waste time at Osaka's N.º 1 High School. But Hirano-sensei didn't believe him. His face grew angry. Takumi looked at him and continued:

"Hirano-sensei, I can't be a musician, but I won't abandon the path of music."

The car was silent, and the woman sitting behind looked at him in surprise. Hirano-sensei stammered: "What do you mean?"

"I learned piano because I want to learn composition, uh... I want to be a composer."

To avoid irritating Hirano-sensei as much as possible, Takumi uttered the word "composer." In fact, he wasn't lying. He would invent a lot of songs. Even if he didn't mention it, others would add the title of composer to him in the future.

'But he didn't know if composers were considered musicians.'

But Hirano-sensei heard this, which made him feel that there were no limits.

"Haha, what are you saying, kid!"

He reached out and patted Takumi's shoulder, laughing: "So you have such a plan! Composers are musicians too! You should have said no earlier, you've worried me so much!"

Composers are, of course, a type of musician, and he didn't need to turn Takumi into a musician who plays the piano.

"Okay, okay, you're very good at playing the piano, and I can't teach you anything else... You can work hard to become a composer." Hirano-sensei's attitude changed. He listened to Takumi's songs, which didn't sound like they were written by a beginner at all. Composing was also his thing.

But it was unlikely that Hirano-sensei could trust Takumi like that. 'Who knows if this kid is just talking nonsense?'

Hirano-sensei asked Takumi to promise to come to school every two months for two years to demonstrate his piano skills and the songs he composed. These songs could be unfinished works, but they had to at least show that Takumi had not abandoned music. Takumi nodded, and Hirano-sensei wrote down his home phone number so he could ask Aika about the situation from time to time.

In this way, Hirano-sensei and Takumi were very satisfied with the results, and the group returned to Osaka.

"Alice-san called me several times in the past two days, saying she had urgent matters, but she refused to say what they were, so I ignored her all the time."

On the way back, Hirano-sensei was in a good mood, so he gave her Alice's phone number.

"Alice, can I borrow your phone?"

Takumi frowned slightly. He didn't have a charger, and his phone was still out of battery, so he had to borrow Hirano-sensei's phone to call Alice. After being away for two days, Takumi was a little worried about whether something would happen.

After connecting the call, Alice's voice sounded very anxious. She didn't specify anything, just asked where Takumi was.

"I'm still on the highway and will be home tonight." Takumi gave Alice the address, and Alice kept asking about the exit. After getting the answer, she quickly said, "I'll pick you up," and hung up.

Takumi returned the phone to Hirano-sensei and apologized: "It's urgent. My mother and I will get off at the highway exit and won't have dinner with you."

"Okay." Hirano-sensei smiled and said, "If you have something to do, go ahead. I'll take Shiori back to school."

After exiting the highway, Alice was waiting at the exit, as expected. Takumi and Aika changed cars and got into the red Porsche.

After the Porsche drove away, Hirano-sensei started the car again. He looked in the rearview mirror and saw Shiori pouting, as if she was a little sad.

"Shiori-chan, are you complaining that my car isn't good enough?" Hirano-sensei joked. "If you don't like it, ask that guy to pick you up."

"..."

Shiori didn't respond. She turned her head away as if she hadn't heard anything. This reaction made Hirano-sensei smile bitterly. He concentrated on driving.

On the other hand, Alice took Takumi and his mother all the way. Without explanation, they arrived at the restaurant with an intense atmosphere in the city of Kansai.

Takumi immediately knew the answer. 'It was Tsukimoto Genji who was looking for him.'

"Has Five Centimeters Per Second caused a big problem?"

He couldn't help but suspect, and his heart became more nervous. 'Why would Tsukimoto Genji be looking for him this time?'

"Please, come in..."

The kimono-clad waitress opened the door and respectfully invited Takumi and the other two to enter.

It was still the same private room as last time. Tsukimoto Genji was preparing tea. In front of him was a table with steaming food, and there was enough tableware on the side. Tsukimoto Genji must have been waiting for them on purpose.

Aika and Takumi approached to greet him.

"Come on, sit down."

Tsukimoto Genji asked the three of them to sit down, and then told the waitress to serve the tea he had prepared, and then turned to look at Takumi.

His gaze was a little complicated, and his expression changed several times, transforming into a sigh.

"Why... no, Takumi? Starting tomorrow, you can come to the company to learn management experience from me."

Takumi was stunned. 'What had happened? He had just finished his piano career, and now he had to learn management again. He was born to work hard...'
