Great Demon Sun Wukong

Chapter 666: Encounter with Qingshi City Again

These two species, which had been very friendly during the original Six Kingdoms War, had now become deadly enemies here. After Sun Wukong flew to the top of the huge statue's head, those Black Mirror Scorpions below didn't pay him any attention, focusing all their attention on the Tongtian Worms outside Black Stone City. This once again proved that Sun Wukong was merely an accident; the Black Mirror Scorpions weren't looking for trouble with him, so naturally, Sun Wukong was happy to enjoy some peace and quiet, sitting cross-legged on the top of the statue's head and watching with great interest the armies of the two tribes stirring below.

In terms of numbers, the Black Mirror Scorpions seemed to have a significant advantage. The entire Black Stone City was packed with Black Mirror Scorpions, numbering at least thirty thousand, and each one had at least the Cultivation of Eight Patterns, which was quite shocking. Over thirty thousand Eight Patterns Supremes, and among them, there were many with Nine Patterns and even Domain Lord Level super scorpions, which made for a terrifying army. However, the Tongtian Worms outside the city, despite being fewer in number, were enormous— even the smallest were three or four meters long, while the others were often more than ten meters, and very thick and huge. Sun Wukong could see that the biggest one was over a hundred meters long, essentially a colossal legless dragon.

Sun Wukong didn't have to wait long. The Tongtian Worms outside the city suddenly launched an attack without warning, and nearly twenty thousand Tongtian Worms moved at once. The Tongtian Worms were yellow in color, while the ground was red with sand, so as soon as the Tongtian Worms started moving, a wave of yellow surged over the red sea of sand, with an awe-inspiring momentum. Sun Wukong was curious about why these two seemingly unrelated species would wage such a great war. There were not many reasons that could lead two species to battle; either these two species were natural enemies, the kind that absolutely wouldn't stop until one side was annihilated, or they were fighting over territory or some other resources.

However, from what Sun Wukong saw, it seemed unlikely that they were natural enemies, though there probably was some antagonism between them. No matter how Sun Wukong looked at it, he felt that those fat-bodied Tongtian Worms would be perfect food for the large scorpions. As for fighting over territory or resources, that also seemed unlikely; apart from the black stones, there was nothing else in Black Stone City, and Sun Wukong hadn't discovered any use for those black stones. The Tongtian Worms' attack was very crude and simple; in fact, Black Stone City had no walls, or perhaps there once were, but they had disappeared over time.

So the Tongtian Worms lined up in rows and surged into the city, and the Black Mirror Scorpions, not to be outdone, rushed toward the massive Tongtian Worms like mad. What followed was a very brutal battle. Sun Wukong had seen large-scale battles before, but he had never seen one as bloody as this; it was so tragic that he felt as if these two species harbored some kind of towering grudge against each other.

The Tongtian Worms, aside from their sharp teeth, had no other means of attack, so they all bared their fangs and bit wildly. The Black Mirror Scorpions had a variety of attack methods, but given that they were smaller than the Tongtian Worms, it usually took at least four or five of them to kill one Tongtian Worm. What Sun Wukong found so tragic was that the aim of this war didn't seem to be to kill the enemy, because both Black Mirror Scorpions and Tongtian Worms, after killing each other, began to devour the corpses on the spot, eating almost frantically. Thus, the scene before Sun Wukong was a clash of a black wave and a yellow wave, violently colliding, and with each collision, both waves steadily diminished.

It was actually a very strange spectacle, and it was rare to see enemies devour each other's bodies in battle. To Sun Wukong's eyes, it looked like two groups of demons from Hell. Sun Wukong wondered whether this war would end with both species vanishing, which would be quite bizarre. The original black city was now stained a bright red by the war between the two species, and Sun Wukong soon noticed that the city seemed to be absorbing the blood continuously. As the battle went on, it wasn't just the numbers of the two species that dwindled, but also the blood that had soaked the whole of Black Stone City.

The battle lasted a full day and night, with Sun Wukong sitting on top of the statue's head watching the whole time. The outcome of the war surprised Sun Wukong because it turned out exactly as he had previously guessed; nearly sixty thousand of both species, after a day and night of fierce slaughter, indeed all disappeared. No, to be precise, that wasn't quite accurate, for at the foot of the enormous statue Sun Wukong was seated on, there was one person standing proudly alone. That's right, it wasn't a slip of the tongue; there was indeed one person— a mysterious figure clad in black armor, face unseen.

Sun Wukong scratched his head in some bewilderment. What was this? After all the fighting, only a mysterious person remained? Gazing at the person in black armor below, Sun Wukong felt a very dangerous sensation. It wasn't an illusion; it was a keen sense of danger that Sun Wukong had acquired after merging with the fate power of the Nine-Headed Dragon. If Sun Wukong felt danger, it at least meant that the person's Cultivation was not inferior to his own, and if they fought, Sun Wukong might perish. So, after his initial shock, Sun Wukong didn't make any rash moves; he didn't attack or defend, just watched the person in black armor below, wondering what was going on.

The Hei family member stood there for about a Chinese Hour before he began to clumsily and stiffly move his hands, feet, and body. At first, the black-armored figure's movements were as rigid as a zombie's, but as he slowly moved, his body became more agile. When there was no hint of stiffness left in the black-armored figure's body, the Hei family member suddenly tilted his head back at an angle no normal human could achieve, as if the back of his head were touching his back. Then, Wukong saw a pair of pitch-black eyes peering through the visor of the black armor's helmet. Those black eyes were devoid of any emotion, seeming as lifeless as a stone sculpture.

The black-armored figure only looked at Wukong for a while before gently lowering his head, not attacking, but after a pause, he walked off in a certain direction. Wukong's feelings were odd, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it, just feeling a bit uncomfortable. Watching the black-armored figure walk further and further away, Wukong did not follow. His subconscious was telling him that perhaps he should follow, but Wukong knew deep down that even if he did catch up, he probably wouldn't gain anything useful. Although the black-armored figure was walking step by step, he was exceedingly fast and had vanished from Wukong's sight within a few breaths' time.

Looking again at Black Stone City, which had just experienced a ferocious battle, he found it was no different from before. The shiny black stones were not stained with a trace of blood, nor showed the usual destruction of a battlefield with scattered limbs and broken arms. If Wukong had not witnessed it himself and been certain it was no illusion, he would not be sure that a brutal battle involving nearly sixty thousand members of two races had actually taken place here. Sighing, the strange feeling in his heart persisted, but staying here no longer held any meaning. Taking out the Jade Vase containing Hei Kui's blood, Wukong confirmed the direction and once again entered the vast blood-soaked desert.

However, Wukong was now very doubtful about the desert's blood-like sand, wondering if it was really all stained red by blood. After walking for nearly two more days, Wukong had left the desert, but although he was out of the sand, the environment had not improved much, having only changed from sand to a Gobi. In this blood-colored Gobi, Wukong started to encounter blood beasts of about six or seven patterns, which were completely formed of blood. These blood beasts' attack power was weaker than that of humans at the same level, but the blood contained strong corrosive power that demanded utmost caution.

Up until now, Wukong's body had slowly begun to familiarize and adapt to the environment of the Life and Death Blood Realm, which was made possible by the power of the Five Elements Balancing Power and the heart of the Pioneer. While patrolling the Celestial World, Wukong had been severely injured, and that's when the Five-Colored Divine Stone attached itself to his heart and gradually began to fuse with it. Later, Wukong learned that the Five-Colored Divine Stone was the heart of a Pioneer and was gradually assimilating his bloodline into that of a Pioneer. Now, the Five-Colored Divine Stone had almost fully fused with Wukong's heart.

After the fusion, Wukong felt a significant enhancement in the strength of his body, as well as his ability to adapt to the environment, which gave him the confidence to venture into the Life and Death Blood Realm alone. Wukong's heart now essentially was the Pioneer's heart. The balanced power of the Five Elements within his body allowed Wukong to absorb the spiritual power in the Life and Death Blood Realm, despite it being filled with vital energy. This power of the Five Elements would break down and assimilate the spiritual energy of this place into a form that Wukong could absorb, and also incorporate the pure vital energy absorbed into Wukong's heart and blood. Therefore, Wukong's cultivation was slowly advancing, but the strength of his physical body was increasing rapidly.

For most people, the Life and Death Blood Realm was a place of absolute death, but for Wukong, it was an excellent place to forge his body. That's why Wukong was now intentionally spending time seeking out places with strong vital energy to cultivate.

As he cultivated and journeyed, seven days passed, and on this day, Wukong once again saw a city, also built entirely of stone. However, the stones here were blue, and it was a city of green stones. With the experience of the last time, Wukong was not too surprised, but he still prepared a defensive stance and slowly entered. Just like Black Stone City, the inside was completely deserted without a single soul, except there were no statues. According to Wukong's previous guesses, it seemed that when the city was petrified, there was originally no one in it! (To be continued.
