GOT Thor Travelling

Chapter 89: Chapter 89 : God Vs Giant [1]

The snow crunched under my boots as I stepped into the large circle made by the wildlings. Men, women, even children, stood around, shouting and laughing, their voices echoing in the cold wind. They weren't cheering for me. They were cheering for the massive figure standing across from me.

I get it — Mance wished to test me. But how is this a test? How is this reasonable? Hell, if this was anyone else but me, it would be a completely unfair fight.

Do these wildlings get some kind of kick making people from the South fight against a giant? This wasn't even one of those frost giants — while bigger, they're still manageable. These giants are really giants.

Almost three times the size of a normal man, they are almost comparable to the titans from Game of Thrones. Not the bigger one who made the Wall or the Titan Shifters, but the ordinary titans.

This one stood at least twelve feet tall, his body thick with muscle, wrapped in furs and bone armor. His hands were like tree trunks. His face was half-covered with war paint, and his eyes burned with a wild rage.

I glanced at Mance Rayder who stood just outside the circle, arms crossed. He gave me a nod, like saying, "You got this, tiger."

"A reasonable test," I muttered under my breath, already wondering how I'll get him back for this. Though I know I can take the monster in front of me — giant or not — a single bolt of lightning would work on him exactly like how it works on any normal human. It just has to be a stronger bolt.

Still, I stepped forward like any normal man, with no lightning crackling around me. I didn't want to call Mjolnir just yet. I don't think that would fare well in this fight, seeing how neither I nor the giant had a weapon.

I certainly can summon my hammer — no one told me any rule about not using one — but it just felt a little underhanded here.

Not to mention there is also this thing here:

Sigh...

This was no crisis though, but rather an opportunity. An opportunity to test out the limits of this body. Thor had fought monsters, gods, and creatures from across realms. What was one giant?

"Come on..." I shouted and rushed at the giant who remained stagnant, waiting for me to come to him. The moment I was near him, he quickly swung his long arm at me. Somehow, I remembered the first Harry Potter movie. I might resemble the size of the Golden Trio in front of this giant troll. He didn't even need a club — his bare hands were bigger than any weapon I could find around here.

I ducked under the first swing and slammed my fist into the giant's gut while taking a huge leap. It was like punching a wall. He grunted but didn't move. That grunt means I did hurt him, but definitely not enough.

"That leather and fur is getting in the way. I know I've got no right to complain after having a godly armor of my own, however, it's irritating."

I was barely back to the ground after that punch when I saw his hand come down — fast, like a hammer. Faster than I thought he could move, seeing his size. But with my reaction time now, I was easily able to dodge away in time.

I struck again, this time at his knee. That got no reaction. I know why — those thick leather straps completely strapped around his leg. I couldn't help but grumble again. I was about to back off, but the giant lashed out faster this time around. Since the earlier attacks didn't work, the giant reacted quicker than I anticipated. He roared and kicked me with his other leg.

Everything turned white for a moment. I saw myself flying back — from the day I came here I wished to fly, I had Mjolnir in mind, not this.

I hit the ground hard. Nothing felt broken besides my shattered pride.

"Odin's Beard." I found that curse coming to me more naturally now as I slid across the snow and ice, knocking over a pile of crates and horns. My ribs ached. My head rang.

"Hahaha..."

"Got ya right, Crow."

"Squash him."

"No, don't. He's pretty enough — I'll bet he'll be stolen in no time." Those wildlings cheered and said things that almost made me drag them into the fight too.

"Alright," I grunted, pushing myself up. "For the first time in a while, that hurt." The giant was pounding his chest now, like asking me to come at him again.

The wildlings cheered louder. Some laughed. I gave them a glance filled with irritation. "I'm here trying to save you fuckers, you know."

My glance roamed quickly to find a certain person beside Mance who wasn't laughing or roaring. The same girl I met a few hours ago. This wasn't Osha — Odin knows where that girl is.

This one though, sigh... It's more than I anticipated. Just as I thought I was getting used to this world, the place throws another curveball at me. I have to deal with her after this.

Now though, focus. I rolled my shoulder and got ready. I'm getting back at this giant for that last kick.

"Come on," I roared.

I rushed again, this time not holding back at all. If earlier I was testing my strength against his, now I attacked to take him down. He's stronger physically compared to me. However, if used right, then my current physical strength should be enough.

One big reason I don't directly put my upgrade points in use is because in the absence of too much power, techniques get easy to develop.

This giant was an excellent example of this. Seeing me rush at him, he once again swung his hand — no technique and no fighting strategy, just brute strength. Makes sense when fighting someone significantly weaker than you. However, unfortunately for him, I didn't fall into that category.

I easily dodged the very predictable attack. Not stopping, building momentum, I directly rushed at the giant's knee once again.

With all my power and momentum behind me, I leapt up and delivered a powerful kick to his knee.

The giant let out a roar as he stumbled. This time even those leather straps and fur didn't absorb the blow, making the giant buckle down and almost fall.

Seeing him lowering himself, I charged again.

I ran at him too, fists ready. At the last second, I rolled to the side, dodging the swing of his massive arm which he swung hastily to keep me away. His hand smashed into the snow where I had just been, sending a blast of ice flying.

I jumped up once again and punched him hard in the ribs — once, twice, three times. He groaned but didn't fall.

"It's almost like hitting steel." Grumbling, my hand instinctively shot out to reach for my weapon, like my conscious knew I needed more power than this to take the giant down.

My physical attack, compared to this giant, would be only of a child's. But even a child could take down a fully grown adult if he played his cards right.

Especially when the said adult is nothing but a mindless brute.

He swung again. I ducked, rolled forward, and landed a blow to his knee. The giant growled and got up, still slightly limping from the leg I attacked before, and tried to stomp me.

I had to quickly roll out of the way — I barely did before getting stomped under that pillar-like foot of his.

I darted around him like a wolf. Every punch I threw was fast and strong. I struck his jaw, then his shoulder. His skin was thick, and my fists ached, but I didn't stop. I kept moving.

The giant growled in frustration. Surely in his mind, this would be similar to getting pestered by a fly. Haha, makes it even better in this case. He smashed his fists into the ground, trying to trap me. I leapt over.

Cheers rang around us. The wildlings were shouting now — some for me, some still for the giant.

He turned and roared in rage. Maybe I finally pushed him enough. I can certainly say that he has done that to me. No matter how many attacks I throw at him, he just tanks them all. This won't do.

Now I can only either put those upgrade points in use which were sitting useless in my status or summon Mijolnir which I didn't wished to, I'll lose a upgrade point in that regard.

I quickly opened my status panel and deposited one point on my Godly Body, upgrading it from Lvl 2 to Lvl 3.

And once again, there was a surge of power inside me. Yeah, I could get used to this feeling — no matter how hallucinatory it might be.
