Chapter 94.1
The butler was concerned about making too much noise for the young master to hear. After all, the entire Lin family knew how much the young master liked Ai Zhizhen.
Once he was weak. even small movements could hurt so much that he would have colcl sweat on his forehead. But, because Ai Zhizhen said she likecl romance, he forced himself to stand up and personally pick flowers for her.
The young master was in poor health. and he felt pain 24 hours a day. He always said that, after so long. he was used to it. But how could anyone get used to that?
At best, the pain would be longer, and the ability to tolerate it would be greatly increased.
Because it hurt to move his body, the young master would always remain in one place for a long time, like a withered flower, with no colour, quietly waiting to be blown away by the wincl. The only time his pale face would show a smile, and his weak body would move was when Ai Zhizhen, his fiancee, came.
He forced himself to do things he didn’t like for Ai Zhizhen, just to win her favour. But this woman, while enjoying the benefits from the Lins comfortably, bullied the young master behind the Lins' back.
Wasn’t she aware that the young master was good to her and had a personality that didn’t like to talk much?
Now, she came here, making such a ruckus. Wasn’t it just to lure the young master out, so she would be let in?
When remembering the information he found, the butler wanted to strangle Ai Zhizhen. After so many years of enjoying the title of the Lins’ second young master's fiancee, finding the so-called 'true love’, she shamelessly told the young master that she only thought of him as a brother.
If she really only had a brother and sister relationship with the young master and didn’t want to marry him. why didn’t she say so from the beginning?
Thinking of the young master, who was looking forward to reaching marriageable age so that he could marry Ai Zhizhen, the butler couldn’t help but gnash his teeth.
Fortunately, the young master didn’t spoil this woman infinitely as before. Without the young master stopping him, the butler didn’t hesitate. He didn’t ask for other servants to help and pushed Ai Zhizhen out himself.
Ai Zhizhen never expected that the butler, who hacl always been kind to her, would change his face so quickly. She was pushed down the stairs, her feet slippecl. and she fell at the edge of the yard.
“Ah!”
Actually, it didn’t hurt very much, but she let out a scream. Her eyes were filled with tears, ancl she pitifully raised her face to look at the upper terrace.
“Brother Shiheng...”
However, she didn’t see the familiar worried gaze in Lin Shiheng’s eyes, only indifference.
“Get her out of here. Don t dirty the grounds.”
The man who spoiled her from childhood to adulthood said so.
Ai Zhizhen’s eyes showed disbelief, “Brother Shiheng, are you ignoring me? Brother Shiheng!”
“Such audacity!”
The butler looked down at her with a sneer, “You’ve found another man to be your boyfriend. Did you expect our Young Master to treat you as before? I should really make these things you did public so that everyone could have a good look at how disgusting people like you are!”
Ai Zhizhen had never been scolded face to face by people like this, and the tears in her eyes instantly fell all over her face, “Uncle Butler... why have you changed? I have no desire to hurt Brother Shiheng; I will always treat him as my brother and will come to visit him from time to time as I clid before.”
“Tsk!”
The butler almost felt sick from her words, “While betraying the Young Master, wanting to break off the engagement, you still want to rely on our Lins’? How did the Ai family raise such a thing like you?!”
“Get out of here! If you dare to pester the Young Master again, I won t be as polite as I am today!”
Ai Zhizhen stared at him blankly, wanting to say that she didn’t think like that. She just thought that she ancl Brother Shiheng could be friends, even if their engagement were broken. If Brother Shiheng didn’t mincl, she could worship Aunt Lin as a godmother, and they could become brother and sister in the future.
But the butler didn’t give her a chance to speak at all. When he saw that she was still frozen and refused to leave, he lost her patience and directly called for someone to throw her out.
While the butler was still alone, Ai Zhizhen could still struggle, but she couldn’t struggle when there were several people. She was pushed and shoved towards the gate. The driver waiting outside was surprised when he saw this scene. He quickly stepped forward to help, but the several people had no intention of fighting; they just pushed them to the gate and closed it.
Ai Zhizhen was anxious, but she didn’t know whether it was because she had a falling out with the Lins or because she couldn’t help Huo Jingzhou. She desperately tapped on the iron gate, “Let me in! Uncle Butler, just let me in!”
But these Lin family servants, who used to treat her with respect and dignity, only looked on with cold eyes. None of them went forward to open the door.
Just when Ai Zhizhen thought that she was going to fail today, a car suddenly came from behind.
As soon as this car appeared, Ai Zhizhen’s face immediately showed a surprised look, and she quickly took advantage of the car stopping in front of the gate to tap on the window.
This was Madam Lin’s car; Madam Lin had returned.
“Aunt, Aunt, please help me. Uncle Butler won’t let me in!”
The butler ordered people to open the door without looking at Ai Zhizhen and respectfully stepped forward, “Madam.”
The window that was closed slowly rolled down after the butler came. The middle-aged woman sitting inside wasn’t dressed flamboyantly, with short, crisp hair and a cold look on her beautiful face. With a slight sideways glance, her eyes looked at Ai Zhizhen without any emotions.
“Miss Ai, you are in the way. Please move aside.”
The unfamiliar address and cold tone entered Ai Zhizhen’s ears, stunning her. She originally thought she had seen the salvation, and she couldn’t respond. She called out, "Aunt...”
“I don’t have such a ’great’ niece as you.”
Maclam Lin laughed mockingly, but her voice remained colcl. “Since the engagement is broken, there is no relationship between our two families. Miss Ai, please don’t appear in front of the Lin residence again.”
Ai Zhizhen’s expression turned blank. She looked at the Lin residence behind her and then at Madam Lin, who looked indifferent. Why dicl these people change their attitude after just one night?
Ai Zhizhen could ignore the butler and those servants, but Madam Lin, who was once so kind to her that she would always pamper her, changed her attitude. This really made Ai Zhizhen’s heart start to panic.
Subconsciously, she shook her head, “Aunt, it’s not what you think. Isn’t the engagement... not broken yet?”
“Why? Didn’t you tell Shiheng that you wanted to break off the engagement?"
Maclam Lin sneered as if she had heard something funny, “It seems that you’re quite sure that Shiheng wouldn’t let you go."
“Let me guess what Miss Ai is thinking, ‘Ah, I have told him about breaking off the engagement. Shiheng is the one who doesn’t want to break it off, and he doesn't tell the elders about it. Then it’s not my fault. Even if the engagement is still there, I can still have a relationship with the person I like.’ “
She spoke with a smile, but her eyes were frighteningly cold, “You both grew up together, and you know my son very well. But I’m afraid Miss Ai will be disappointed. Even if the children of the Lin family aren’t gentlemen, they definitely won’t hold on to a woman who has a lover. If you want to break off the engagement, we’ll let you.”
Seeing Ai Zhizhen looking blankly at herself, Madam Lin slowly ancl methodically took out a handkerchief from her pocket, wrappecl her fingers in it, and pulled Ai Zhizhen’s hand off the window one by one. Under Ai Zhizhen crying eyes, she threw the handkerchief that had touched her out of the window in disgust.
“In the future, please clon’t take out the Lin family’s name to make yourself seem impressive.”
“The next time you mess with me, you won’t be as lucky as you are today."
The window slowly rose up, cutting off Ai Zhizhen’s view into the car.
Under her disbelieving eyes, the car pulled into the Lin family’s long driveway without stopping.
The butler respectfully watched Madam Lin’s car drive away, then turned around, “Miss Ai, please.”
Ai Zhizhen turned stiffly in a daze and got into her own car.
How was that possible? Didn’t Aunt love her the most?
In the past, if she wanted something, she just hacl to act spoiled with Aunt Lin. Even if she was on a business trip, she would purposely bring her gifts. Every time she attendecl a party, as long as Aunt Lin was there, she would take her with her and tell everyone that she was her favourite girl.
But now, how did she change so quickly? It was just a broken engagement: she’s still the same Zhen Zhen, she’ll still please Aunt Lin like before.
Ai Zhizhen kept convincing herself but couldn’t resist the coldness rising from the bottom of her heart.
Although she had a high position in the Ai family, she was lovecl by everyone, always lookecl like a little princess when she went out to play and was held in everyone's heart; however, she had always known that most of these things were because the Lin family’s parents had expressed how much they doted on her in public, on several occasions.
If the news that Aunt and Uncle Lin had given up on her went out...
Ai Zhizhen fiercely shivered. She was obviously so scared that she turned pale, but she was still trying to convince herself.
No, definitely not. Everyone liked her; how can they change their attitude because of the Lin family?
What she had to do now was to hurry home and find her father, ask him to help and intercede. If she couldn’t see Brother Shiheng, what about Jingzhou?
Ai Zhizhen, whose expression changed several times, didn’t notice it, but at the driver’s seat, the driver’s eyebrows were tightly knittecl.
He saw the Lins' attitude towards the Young Miss, which wasn’t good. Most of the thing’s the Ai family has today were relying on the Lin family’s support. If the Lin family turned their faces...
His hands clenched up, gripping the steering wheel. The speed of the car slowly rose. He had to hurry back to the Master and Madam.
