Gol D. Ace In Coiling Dragon

Chapter 365: Book 13: Part 18 – Your Opponent Is Me

After Aiden let Wodred and the other Sovereigns know that it was no longer Killian and the other members of the Golden Sun Pirates taking part in the Overgod's mission, but Linley and his group, it would be a lie if they said they weren't relieved.

He may not be quite on par with Ace and Amira, but as far as deities went, Killian was truly a monstrous existence.

As for Linley, the last time he was seen was in the Planar War a little over 2000 years ago. At the time, he had only just broken through to become a paragon; between that and the fact that he was an Apex Divine Beast, he was truly fearsome amongst deities. Even so, it wasn't to the point where he was invincible and unsurpassable.

They knew he had likely gotten significantly stronger in that time, but as long as Killian, Ace, and Amira weren't taking part, they felt like they still had hope. Even so, they weren't willing to underestimate their opponents again – This was too important!

As a result, Wodred and the other Sovereigns had the deities watching the creation of the new 11 divine planes intensify their efforts.

Three hundred years later, the Planar Battlefield was once again filled with experts, experts originating from all over the universe. The weakest among them were seven-star fiends, and they numbered in the tens of thousands. Above them, there were several thousand commander-level experts, with several hundred of them having reached the level of an Invincible Commander, but the experts who gained the most attention were the Paragons.

There were only 37 Paragons, but each of them stood at the front of the army, exuding a proud, dignified, and seemingly invincible aura.

Looking down from the void surrounding the Planar Battlefield, the other Sovereigns, as well as Phueus, were stood waiting patiently.

The last time they were there was to watch the shocking fight between Ace and Teresia, which ended in a way that none of them had seen coming.

The results of that battle had left a shadow in each of their hearts, Phueus included – Ace's potential was simply too frightening. Still, this time, their opponent wasn't Ace or his group of freaks. It was one of the two main facts that allowed them to feel confident in their chances today. The second was the man floating in the air in the middle of the 37 paragons!

If Ace and the others were present, they would've recognised him as he was none other than the Emissary of the soul-mutated Intermediate Sovereign of Death, Matadall, and that was none other than the universe first and formerly only three-way soul mutate, Fotu.

Fotu was the same expert who had given Ace so much trouble during the last Planar War, back before his creation of the Mandate of Pure Yang. But the Fotu of then and the Fotu of today couldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

That Fotu, although he had reached the level of at least a seven-star fiend in each of his chosen Laws and had even fused a few of the mysteries of differing Laws, he hadn't become a Paragon, but the Fotu of today, it was clear from the Willpower he was radiating – a Willpower so intense that it was seemingly dwarfing the Willpower of the other 36 paragons present – that he had become a paragon in far more than one law.

As a Sovereign's head emissary and a three-way soul mutate, Fotu had never been so embarrassed as he was during the last Planar War. Back when he fought Ace, Ace had only been a Full God at the time, yet he managed to defeat him. Then he later found out that one of the members of Ace's group, Killian, was not only a three-way soul mutate like him but also only a fraction of a fraction of his age, yet he had already become a paragon in one of his Laws, making him stronger than him.

Before that, aside from Muyan, no other deities could enter his eyes, not even Paragon. Even though they were stronger than him, they were incapable of killing him, and the moment he became a paragon in any one of his chosen Laws, they wouldn't be able to take one move from him. Even Muyan, although he respected him as he understood better than anyone how difficult it was to become a true soul-mutated paragon, he knew that Muyan had reached the limits of his potential, but the day he reached his full potential, not even he would be a match for him.

But before he got the chance to experience life at the top of the food chain of deities, Ace and his friends came along and completely overturned the universe's understanding of the power of a deity.

But now, things were different. Although he hadn't quite reached the limits of his potential, he was far stronger than he had been before, and he had even surpassed the power of Muyan previously. He wanted to use this battle to cement his fame as a true apex predator among deities.

It was right then that their opponents made their appearance. In the chaotic space surrounding the battlefield, Aiden and Orloff teleported not only their Sovereigns but also hundreds of thousands of deities to watch the festivities. Deities including the Golden Sun Pirates, minus Ace and Amira, the Yulan Plane's Gol Clan, and the Infernal Realm's Four Divine Beasts Clan.

Seeing so many suddenly appear out of nowhere caused the Sovereigns already present to jump, having not expected it. The only one who didn't seem phased by their appearance was Phueus – he was frowning for an entirely different reason.

It had to be understood that thanks to Aiden, the other Overgods weren't capable of spying on the Yulan Plane; as such, they had no idea what had been going on over there over the last 2000+ years, but now, looking at all those deities, the weakest of whom were at the level of a Commander, he understood that they had the same idea as Wodred. A thought that was cemented by the fact that he could sense almost 100 paragons.

Coming to that realisation, Phueus' frown deepened as he turned to face Aiden. He knew that if they sent this army into the Planar Battlefield, this battle would be a foregone conclusion, but he didn't. It was almost as if he was trying to give them the win, but with what he knew of Aiden and Ace, that was virtually impossible.

Aiden could guess what was going through Phueus's mind, but he had no interest in clearing up his suspicions. Instead, he and the others simply turned to watch the festivities.

Fotu and the army he was leading had no idea what was going on in the void; they were too busy eyeing up the ten new arrivals that had appeared before them.

When they heard that they would only be facing Linley and his group and none of Ace's, they thought they would at least be facing off against the battle-hardened army of the Four Divine Beasts Clan, but what they never could've imagined was that forget the thousand plus man army that they were expecting, there wasn't even 100.

One of the 37 paragons present opened his mouth to address them when a bolt of lightning suddenly descended, striking and killing the man before a single word could escape his mouth.

Wukong sneered as he said he had no interest in talking today; he just wanted to fight.

Although it was a seemingly simple strike, Fotu and the other paragons could sense that a seemingly ordinary bolt of lightning was coated in two units worth of Willpower.

Seeing how shocked their opponents were, Wukong said that since they had no intention of coming to him, he would go to them.

Before the end of his sentence could reach their ears, Wukong's body flickered, appearing once again in the middle of the crowd of deities, starting what could only be described as a one-sided slaughter.

It wasn't even a full second before the others reacted, but by the time they did, over a hundred commander-level experts had been killed.

Fotu was the first to react; realising the threat that Wukong posed, he darted in his direction, releasing the full power of his Will, intending to kill him in one go.

Wukong could sense that the man was a paragon and a powerful one at that, but it wasn't until he released his Willpower that he understood exactly how monstrous he was.

Like him, Fotu was also a Tier 3 Paragon, but where Wukong only had five units of Will, Fotu had seven. Between that and the fact that Fotu's divine power was 100 times stronger than his own, Wukong knew that even though he could now be considered a true Apex Divine Beast with a Divine Ability literally designed for combat that he could now perfectly control, he still wasn't Fotu's match.

Still, after a casual glance at the soul mutate, Wukong ignored him completely, choosing to carry on with his massacre.

Fotu felt his pride being provoked when he saw the complete disregard with which Wukong treated him, but before he could reach even halfway, he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on edge.

Without a second thought, he gave up pursuing Wukong and chose to change directions.

Looking at the spot where he had just been, Fotu saw a humanoid creature coated in crystalline azure scales wielding a sword in each hand. But the thing that really caught his attention was the fact that Dragonoid man was radiating six units of Willpower – a number only one less than his own.

Linley's cold, reptilian eyes focused on Fotu as he indifferently told him, "Your opponent is me!"
