Chapter 459: Powers of a Realm Lord
The two ancient trees — the Ancient Heartwood Tree and the Ancient Corpseheart Tree — stood tall at the heart of their respective regions, shining with divine brilliance.
Each of them had become a true Origin Entity after the Official Duel between the two owners ended.
The Ancient Heartwood Tree, basking in pure Life Energy, had grown even more massive.
Its roots stretched through the entire Life Region, nurturing a paradise of healing flora, radiant spirit herbs, and holy flowers. The air was fresh and vibrant, filled with gentle life pulses.
On the other hand, the Ancient Corpseheart Tree stood like a death god's beacon in the center of the Death Region.
Dark vines, bone roots, and pale death petals covered the land beneath it. Strange undead flora like Soul-Draining Moss, Reaper Lilies, and Blackbone Fungus all thrived, bathing the region in pure Death Essence.
Both regions, though still separated, were no longer chaotic. Instead, they had become self-sustaining worlds, stabilised by the twin trees that now pulsed with the will of the realm itself.
'So, this is what happens when two Origin Beings accept the same master...'
But before Ethan could explore further, something in the sky caught his attention.
Floating above the Death Region was a massive dark orb, hundreds of meters wide, like a moon made of translucent black crystal. It pulsed slowly with ancient undead energy, and inside it... were countless sealed Undead Beings.
The Ghouls, Spectral Death Knights and even the entire troops of the Skeletal Race who acknowledged Ethan's Undead Avatar, all of them were floating inside, completely suppressed.
The only one that was not trapped was his Undead Avatar itself.
The Realm clearly recognised the connection between the Avatar and Ethan, the realm's owner. So, it was spared.
'So... I really can control the life and death of all foreign beings in this realm...'
Ethan stared at the orb, stunned, but thinking about his current role of being the Owner of the Realm of Life and Death, he was no longer stunned.
With just a thought, he could wipe out every being sealed inside it, but of course, he wouldn't do that.
'Since it is the Realm of Life and Death, there is nothing wrong in keeping these Undead Races in it.'
With that thought in mind, Ethan muttered, 'Release the Skeletal Race.'
He didn't hesitate regarding his decision.
The Skeletal Race were already bound to his Undead Avatar, and their loyalty was unquestionable.
'Rumble'
The orb trembled for a moment before releasing a huge wave of energy as the Skeletal Race was freed.
They appeared in the Death Region and kneeled before Ethan because by now, they had already learned that their so-called Abyssal Son was an Avatar created by the human in front of them.
But, after seeing his strength and his willingness to take them, the lowest Undead Race under his wing, they decided to swear their loyalty to Ethan.
"Don't worry, in the future, my Undead Avatar will break through to the Undead Emperor. So, your dream of having an Undead Emperor from the Skeletal Race would definitely be fulfilled."
Although it was Ethan's first time directly interacting with Eduart, he had many interactions with him through his Undead Avatar and knew what he and the entire Skeletal Race wanted.
So, Ethan was not at all worried about the Skeletal Race.
As for the Spectrals and Ghouls, Ethan didn't act immediately.
He took a moment to think.
They were strong, dangerous and proud. But they had potential that was greater than the Skeletal Race… especially the Spectral Race.
'Let's see if they are willing to submit…'
So, Ethan didn't keep many hopes regarding them because making the Undead Beings swear their loyalty to a living being ... in history, such a thing had never been heard of.
He was already happy having the Skeletal Race undead under his control and wouldn't bother much even if the other two Undead Races didn't swear their loyalty to him.
Soon, in a voice that echoed across the orb and shook the death energy around it, Ethan spoke: "Those who are willing to swear loyalty to me… I will make sure to spare your lives."
Inside the orb, silence stretched for a few moments.
Most of the lower-ranked undead couldn't understand what was happening. They were mindless, driven only by instinct and hunger for life.
But Ethan wasn't concerned with them.
He only cared about those who had reached the Nether Soul Realm, the threshold where the undead gained true consciousness.
And then, finally…
A shadow flew forward inside the orb.
With deep blue flames burning in his eye sockets, a powerful spectral knight lowered his head.
"I, Eaden, the Great Spectral General of the Spectral Death Legion, swear my loyalty to the Realm Owner of Life and Death in exchange for protection and nurturing."
Following his lead, dozens of Spectral Death Knights that reached the Nether Soul Realm did the same thing as Great Spectral Eaden.
"We follow Great Spectral Eaden. We surrender our blades to the new Undead… no, Realm Lord."
'Not bad…'
Seeing that, Ethan was pleased as he didn't expect the Spectral Death Knights would agree to swear their loyalty to him just like that.
However, thinking about the oath sworn by the Great Spectral Eaden, he understood something.
'So, it was a mutual exchange. I will give them a place to stay, and nurture them with Death Essence, and they will fight for me. Not a bad deal.'
That's right!
Although they were under the Green Corpse Emperor for decades, they didn't care much about loyalty.
It was not because the Spectral Death Race didn't know how to be loyal; instead, their relationship between them and the Green Corpse Emperor was not close.
Unlike the Ghoul Race and the Skeletal Race, the Spectral Death Knights just worked for the Green Corpse Emperor in exchange for the resources and blessings from the very beginning.
Hearing that, Ethan didn't mind; instead, he was glad that the Great Spectral Eaden had mentioned it; otherwise, he would have doubted his intentions behind swearing his loyalty very quickly.
"For now, I can't give you blessings like the Green Corpse Emperor; however, providing a place for you to stay and Death Essence for your cultivation, I can help you with that much."
Ethan didn't forget to mention the things he could provide and what he could not provide.
Of course, when he said that he could provide the Death Essence, he was not talking about himself but the Ancient Corpseheart Tree, which would be continuously replenishing the Death Essence in the Death Region.
So, it was not a problem for Ethan.
"It is more than enough, Realm Lord."
Eaden thanked him along with the rest of his Spectral Death Knights.
In the end, both Ethan and the Spectral Death Race were happy with their agreement as Ethan brought them out of the orb that was sealing them.
But not everyone was pleased.
As soon as the Spectral Death Race acknowledged Ethan as their new lord and left the Sealing Orb, three terrifying auras surged within the orb.
"Eaden… you b*stard! How dare you betray the Green Corpse Emperor? The Undead God will never forgive this!"
The three Ghoul Warlords, rotting with cursed flames, snarled in fury with their voices being harsh and full of venom.
But Eaden remained unfazed as he spoke, "The one who was sponsoring me fell, and the blessings from him had disappeared, and a stronger one stands before me now. My Spectral Race follows strength, not corpses that fell."
The moment Eaden said that, the atmosphere inside the orb shifted as the three Ghoul Warlords were furious; however, they had no words to retort.
Unlike the Skeletal Race, they knew the deal between the Green Corpse Emperor and the Spectral Death Race, and thus, they could only shut their mouths.
"So… you won't swear your loyalty?"
As for Ethan, he turned toward the three Warlords and asked in a calm tone.
"We are the war hounds of the Green Corpse Emperor! Even if our bodies rot and our souls burn, we will not betray our master!"
The middle Ghoul, with black horns and armour, snarled back without hesitation.
"That's right! Even if you threaten to kill us, we will gladly accept it rather than becoming your underlings who killed our master."
The other two Ghoul Warlords gave their absolute statements.
'...'
Ethan didn't reply for a second; instead, he looked at them quietly… then nodded.
"I like your loyalty to your Emperor. So… I'll give you a warrior's death."
With a single wave of his hand, black flames surged through the orb.
The three Warlords, along with all the Ghouls who had no intentions of becoming his underlings, screamed as their bodies disintegrated on the spot, leaving behind Soul Cores which disappeared along with the Sealing Orb.
'Undead or not… loyalty is worth respect.'
Ethan muttered to himself, and of course, he didn't think the Spectral Death Race did anything wrong.
Both the Ghoul Race and the Spectral Death Race were not wrong as they were following their own principles.
"For now, find a place and settle. I have a few things to do."
After leaving those words to the Skeletal Race and the Spectral Race, Ethan quickly flew in a hurry.
That's right!
Flying is another one of the benefits he got as the Owner of the Realm, and he was in a hurry because he received system notifications saying,
[Host, please settle the things inside the Realm of Life and Death]
[After one hour, you will be teleported to the Ruler's Space and after that, the ruler can't meddle in the affairs within the realm… at least directly]
