Godly Beggar

Chapter 11: A Chance Encounter and a Hidden Truth

It was a calm Friday morning, and the school seemed quieter than usual. Jiang Han sat by the window in the classroom, the soft hum of distant chatter drifting in the background. Despite the tranquillity, his mind was far from relaxed. The events of the past few weeks had changed him, reshaped his priorities, and left him questioning the true nature of the system.

"Reincarnation, a system, random missions... What's the bigger picture here?" Jiang Han muttered under his breath, absently twirling a pen between his fingers.

Before he could dwell further, a sharp chime interrupted his thoughts.

[System Alert! Situational Mission Triggered.]

Mission: Deliver a handwritten apology to Lim De Kang for accidentally taking his physics notes.]

Failure to comply will result in a deduction of -50 system points.]

Reward: Physics Problem Solving Skill (Advanced Level).]

Jiang Han blinked, glancing down at his desk. Sitting innocently among his books was a notebook with Lim De Kang's name scrawled across the cover.

"Seriously? When did this even get here?" Jiang Han muttered, flipping through the pages. It was filled with neatly written formulas, diagrams, and annotations. The kind of notes that only someone like Lim De Kang could produce.

He sighed, rubbing his temples. "Handwritten apology? The system couldn't ask for something simpler, like a 'my bad' text?"

A Comedic Start

Jiang Han approached Lim De Kang's desk with the notebook in hand. The ever-serious De Kang was scribbling furiously, completely absorbed in his work.

"Hey, De Kang," Jiang Han began hesitantly.

De Kang didn't look up. "What is it?"

Jiang Han held out the notebook. "I think I accidentally took this. My apologies for the mix-up."

De Kang paused, eyeing the notebook suspiciously. "How does someone accidentally take another person's notes?"

"I have no idea," Jiang Han said honestly. "One moment it wasn't there, and the next moment it was. Maybe the universe is playing tricks on us."

De Kang narrowed his eyes, clearly unconvinced. "The universe? Really?"

"Alright, fine," Jiang Han said, throwing up his hands. "Maybe I'm just a magnet for random nonsense. Either way, here's your notebook. And…" He hesitated, then pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper. "Here's a handwritten apology. Happy now?"

De Kang unfolded the paper, his lips twitching as he read. The note was written in Jiang Han's signature scrawl and included an exaggeratedly formal tone: 'Dear Lim De Kang, I deeply regret the unfortunate incident of misplaced ownership regarding your invaluable physics notes. Please accept my sincerest apologies for this grave oversight. Yours humbly, Jiang Han.'

De Kang let out a snort of laughter, quickly covering it with a cough. "Alright, apology accepted. But if I catch you with my notes again, we'll have words."

"Duly noted," Jiang Han said, turning to leave.

[Mission Complete! Reward Unlocked: Physics Problem Solving Skill (Advanced Level).]

As the reward activated, Jiang Han felt a surge of clarity. Complex equations and concepts he had previously struggled with now seemed almost intuitive.

A Transmigration Twist

As Jiang Han walked back to his desk, a strange sensation washed over him. It was as if the world tilted slightly, colours and sounds becoming sharper for a brief moment. Then, just as quickly, everything returned to normal.

"What the…?" Jiang Han muttered, looking around.

He noticed something odd. The classroom, while familiar, seemed slightly… off. The posters on the walls had different designs, and the desks were arranged in different patterns. Even his classmates' uniforms had subtle variations.

"What's going on?" he thought, his heart pounding.

Before he could process the changes, a notification appeared in his mind.

[System Notification: Transmigration Detected.]

[Host has temporarily entered a parallel dimension for character growth purposes.]

"Parallel dimension?!" Jiang Han exclaimed aloud, earning a few confused looks from nearby students.

"Are you okay?" Jia Qi whispered, leaning over.

"Define 'okay'," Jiang Han muttered, rubbing his temples.

The Face-Slapping Setup

Before Jiang Han could fully grasp his situation, the classroom door burst open, and a smug-looking version of Ang Xuan Ming strode in. Except this wasn't the Xuan Ming Jiang Han knew—this one was taller, broader, and radiated an even stronger aura of arrogance.

"Well, well," this alternate Xuan Ming said, his voice dripping with mockery. "Looks like the loser has decided to show up."

Jiang Han blinked. "Loser? Are you talking to me?"

Xuan Ming smirked. "Of course. Or did you forget how I crushed you in last week's maths competition?"

The classroom erupted into laughter, and Jiang Han felt a flicker of indignation. In this dimension, he seemed to be the underdog—an easy target for ridicule.

"Oh, this is going to be fun," Jiang Han thought, his lips curling into a faint smile.

The Comeback

As the day progressed, Jiang Han observed his alternate self's reputation—or lack thereof. Teachers seemed to ignore him, classmates whispered about him, and Xuan Ming appeared to be the reigning king of the classroom.

But Jiang Han wasn't one to back down. Armed with his system rewards and growing confidence, he began formulating a plan.

During the lunch break, Xuan Ming approached him again, a smug grin plastered across his face.

"Hey, loser," Xuan Ming said, leaning against Jiang Han's desk. "How about another maths challenge? Unless you're too scared."

Jiang Han looked up, his expression calm. "Sure. Let's make it interesting this time."

Xuan Ming raised an eyebrow. "Interesting? What do you have in mind?"

"If I win, you publicly apologise for calling me a loser," Jiang Han said. "And if you win, I'll do the same."

The room fell silent, everyone waiting for Xuan Ming's response.

"Deal," Xuan Ming said, his grin widening. "Prepare to eat your words."

The Battle of Wits

The challenge was set for the following day, with the entire class gathered to watch. The questions ranged from basic algebra to advanced calculus, and both competitors answered quickly and confidently.

But it didn't take long for Jiang Han's system-enhanced skills to shine. While Xuan Ming stumbled on a particularly tricky problem, Jiang Han solved it effortlessly, earning gasps of admiration from the audience.

By the end of the challenge, Jiang Han was the clear victor.

"Alright, Xuan Ming," Jiang Han said, crossing his arms. "A deal's a deal."

Xuan Ming's face turned red as he mumbled a barely audible apology. The class burst into laughter, and Jiang Han couldn't help but savour the moment.

"Face-slapping complete," Jiang Han thought, a triumphant smile spreading across his face.

Back to Reality

As the day ended, the strange sensation from earlier returned, and Jiang Han found himself back in his original classroom. Everything was as it should be, but the experience in the parallel dimension lingered in his mind.

"That was… interesting," he muttered, opening his notebook.

The system chimed one last time for the day.

[System Notification: Transmigration Complete. Lesson Learned: Confidence is built, not given. Use your skills to change perceptions.]

Jiang Han smiled. The system's methods were unconventional, but they were undeniably effective. With every mission and very challenge, he was becoming someone he could be proud of.
