God Level Farmer In Another World

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: The Obvious Spy

Chapter 52: The Obvious Spy

In the early morning, Alexander sat at his usual spot in the café, reading.

"Morning, sir."

Yvette Ivanova, fresh from her morning routine, stretched lazily and sat across from Alexander.

Alexander nodded gently:

"Morning."

It was late autumn, and the weather was getting colder. The café opened later these days, and Lilin and Qingqing had yet to start their shifts.

There was a knock at the door.

Yvette wondered who would come to the café this early. Turning to look, she saw Jack.

She walked over, unlocked the door, and greeted him with a smile:

"Morning."

Jack seemed different today, his eyes evasive as he mumbled a half-hearted greeting.

His gaze locked onto Alexander, and he rushed over, falling to his knees with a thud:

"Master Alex, I'm sorry... I..."

Yvette was taken aback. She knew Jack was one of Alexander's close aides. What mistake could he have made?

Without a word, she retreated to the kitchen to prepare coffee for the two of them.

Alexander glanced at Jack:

"Sit down. If Lily completes the task, you and she will be fine."

Jack nervously sat on the sofa, while Alexander continued reading with a calm expression.

After a while, the radio in the café began broadcasting the morning news.

"Yesterday, a newlywed couple went out of town to take wedding photos and unfortunately encountered a monster. We urge everyone not to leave the city for now."

"Yesterday, a middle school student accidentally caught a strange creature. Whether it's a monster is still unknown."

"Last night, four men and a woman were found dead in an apartment. The investigation by the Security Bureau indicates that the suspect is a woman."

Hearing this news report, Jack finally exhaled in relief.

The task Alexander had given Lily was to execute five traitors.

Those five were part of a small gang. After obtaining the Sap of Ascension, they repeatedly refused to take on any missions.

The guild's rule was that refusing three consecutive missions constituted betrayal.

Alexander assigned the task to Lily to test her resolve: Could she kill opponents stronger than herself? Could she harden her heart to take lives?

Because Alexander had an even more important mission for her.

Alexander pulled out his phone and sent another task to Lily. Then, he glanced at Jack:

"You were the first to follow me and have the best chance of advancing to a mid-level hunter."

"You're busy with work, and I allow you to form cliques, but use your brain when you do it."

Jack was momentarily stunned, unsure of what Alexander meant.

He had assumed Alexander would be displeased with his unauthorized formation of a small hunter group.

Alexander pulled a sheet of paper from his notebook and handed it to Jack:

"Do you really think you understand Lily?"

Jack took the paper with both hands and read its contents. His eyes widened:

"What? Lily has a mental disorder?"

Severe empathy disorder, severe alexithymia, and an almost zero-level negative P-type personality.

In other words, she was a born criminal.

Alexander continued reading:

"She's not the pitiable girl trying to make a living in a nightclub that you think she is."

"She's the daughter of a prominent family in the province, an awakened family. What makes you think you can control her?"

"Would a normal girl kill five people in one go? Use your head!"

---

In Bluewater City, at the Susia Church.

The place was desolate, with cobwebs hanging over the entrance.

After the arrival of the monsters, ordinary people had been struggling to survive, leaving them no time for worship.

The last visitors had been a few foreigners from the Divine Cult.

The bishop named Desmond had come to Bluewater to spread the divine light.

The door was knocked upon, and a nun who was cleaning the hall hurriedly put down her broom and pushed it open.

"Lord Desmond, what happened to you?" she gasped.

Desmond's clothes were in tatters, his exposed skin showing varying degrees of burns, and his eyebrows were singed off.

He shoved the nun aside and stormed into the church.

Still reeling from shock, he cursed as he walked:

"Damn it! Damn it! There's such a powerful awakened in Bluewater, and Welma had to send me here!"

Desmond stomped up to the second floor, grabbed a bottle of vodka from the table, and took a swig.

The alcohol stung, but it helped calm his fear. Taking a deep breath, he began to analyze the situation.

Bluewater City had such a powerful figure—someone who could easily deal with a monster siege.

Why would Welma bother to send him here?

Finally, he realized something.

Welma didn't know about the existence of this figure in Bluewater!

A chill ran down Desmond's spine!

Such a terrifying individual, with his extraordinary organization, had been operating right under Welma's nose!

How did this organization manage to pull it off?!

The more Desmond thought about it, the more fear gripped him, his pupils dilating:

"Someone who even escaped Welma's notice actually showed up right in front of me."

"All this, just to poach a mere C-rank awakened? This is madness!"

Desmond pulled out his phone, intending to report the situation to Welma.

If he ignored this, who knew when he'd wake up to find a masked specter standing by his bed!

Before the call connected, he hesitated again.

If he reported this to Welma, it would definitely provoke that lunatic.

Would that madman come after him for revenge?

He managed to escape from the man's grasp, but he was here in Bluewater for a missionary task!

As he wavered, a knock sounded at the door, startling him so much that he dropped his phone.

"Who's there?!"

A nun's soft voice came from outside:

"Lord Desmond, someone is here to see you."

Desmond gulped:

"W-who's looking for me?"

The nun replied:

"A young lady from Bluewater City. She insists on seeing you and says she wants to make a donation."

Desmond let out a sigh of relief and snapped irritably:

"Fine, I got it! I'm coming down now!"

He pocketed his phone and put on a benevolent expression, descending the stairs.

However, when he saw the so-called donor, his killing intent flared up like a cat whose fur had been set on end:

"You! What are you doing here?!"

The girl wore skimpy clothes, her face covered in thick smoky makeup—none other than the woman he had encountered the previous night!

There was a strong scent of blood about her.

Had she just killed someone?

Lily sat calmly in the chair, ignoring Desmond's hostility, and greeted him:

"Good morning, Bishop Desmond."

Desmond's eyes grew icy:

"How dare you come here? Aren't you afraid I'll kill you?!"

Lily blinked her big eyes:

"If I die, our president will come for you."

"You came to Bluewater on a mission, didn't you, sir?"

"You wouldn't want your mission to fail, would you?"

Desmond sighed helplessly and sat across from Lily:

"What do you want?"

"Do you need me to apologize to your president?"

"No problem. I can offer compensation!"

Lily shook her head:

"The president told me to stick to you like glue and report your every move to him."

Desmond thought he had misheard:

"What did you say?"

A spy?

So blatantly obvious?

Lily pouted:

"You think I want to do this?"

"Oh, right, the president said if I fail this mission, he will consider it an act of war from you."

"So, wherever you go, you'd better take me along, and don't even think about killing me."

She was against this task, but it was a compulsory mission she couldn't refuse.

She became a Hunter for the thrill, for the fun, not to rot away in a boring church!

Desmond was speechless:

"Are you people thugs?"

He never would have imagined that the president would play such a card!

It was like placing a ticking time bomb right beside him and expecting him to carry it everywhere.

If he tried to ditch or defuse it, the bomb would simply explode ahead of time.

Covering his face with one hand, Desmond tried to persuade her:

"Your president doesn't consider you one of his own. He's sending you on such a dangerous mission, treating you like cannon fodder!"

Lily's eyes lit up:

"Dangerous? This thrilling? Well, I guess this place isn't so dull after all!"

Desmond was dumbfounded.

Was this woman crazy?

This conversation was going nowhere!

With a satisfied smile, Lily pulled out her phone and started fiddling with it.

She was already acting like the church was her new home.

Since last night, she had become hooked on the Hunter Guild's chat channel.

The people there were so interesting and witty.

Especially a hunter named "Dragon Slayer" (Giovani). Oh! He was saying something in the channel again!
