Chapter 37 - Request, Wrapping Up
Chapter 37: Request, Wrapping Up
“Beep beep~”
The urgent communication signal sounded. Lin Zhichen glanced down and saw that it was from Kadier Rockefeller.
“Big brother, it looks like the Rockefellers can’t hold on any longer,” Wu Tianyi said, looking at the communication display.
“Don’t underestimate these big families. This level of loss isn’t enough to hurt them significantly,” Lin Zhichen shook his head slightly.
“It’s probably Kadier who can’t hold on any longer.”
Kadier Rockefeller was an heir to the family, but not the only one. To rise to the top, he needed to have enough achievements.
If the losses this time were too great, his merits wouldn’t outweigh his faults, making it a losing proposition.
“Dear friend, we meet again.” Kadier appeared in the holographic image with a beaming smile, showing no signs of frustration from his setbacks.
“I hope I’m not interrupting your celebratory banquet.”
Clearly, he had already obtained intelligence through his channels about the mercenary group’s fleet arriving on Earth.
“I heard that pirate base is giving you some trouble?” Lin Zhichen didn’t beat around the bush and asked directly.
“It is a bit troublesome. I heard you formed a mercenary group. Consider this a mission request; I need your help,” Kadier said, still smiling, having anticipated Lin Zhichen’s straightforwardness.
“No need to deploy ground troops, just help us take out the pirate base’s turrets.”
“1000 energy credits. Agree, and I’ll take action immediately. I have another trip to make soon,” Lin Zhichen stated.
“Then I’ll leave it to you,” Kadier agreed without hesitation.
After closing the holographic communication, Lin Zhichen said, “Let’s go check out the NZT-50 production line.”
The group took a convenient flying car to a newly operational, enclosed pharmaceutical production factory.
Through the transparent tempered glass, they watched as automated assembly lines and intelligent robots placed the extracted herbs into containers, undergoing a special process.
At the exit, semi-transparent pills were being bottled and packaged.
“Commander, Vice Commander!” The busy Dr. Li Ping came over and saluted.
“How’s the production line?” Lin Zhichen asked.
“Just about to report to you. Everything is running smoothly, and the pills have passed quality inspection,” Dr. Li Ping said with a slight smile, but then hesitated. “However, it’s strange. We can produce a maximum of 10,000 NZT-50 pills per day. Beyond that, nothing more comes out—just a mixed liquid with no effect.”
“10,000 pills?” Lin Zhichen mused. It seemed this was the production limit.
To be honest, this quantity was far too low, significantly below expectations. He wondered what the key to increasing the production volume was. Otherwise, this amount wouldn’t be enough to achieve his goals.
“Let’s start with this and see if there’s any way to increase the output,” Lin Zhichen said firmly.
Even if it doesn’t meet expectations, the revenue from NZT-50 would still be enough to sustain the Meteor Mercenary Group. Before it hits the market, he must strengthen the group as much as possible to avoid being powerless in the face of danger.
Piloting the “Qinyuan,” Lin Zhichen and Lin Ke quickly headed towards the asteroid belt. The psionic combat technique for spatial jump was activated, and the ship appeared at the edge of the asteroid belt.
The engines roared to life, and the ship maneuvered like a swimming fish, easily dodging asteroids as it headed deeper into the belt. A day later, the pirate base came into view from a distance.
“Mr. Lin, I am Colonel Buros. Young Master Kadier Rockefeller has assigned me to assist you in breaking through the pirate base,” the middle-aged man in military uniform said seriously.
“I’ll help you take out the pirate base’s turrets. The rest is up to you,” Lin Zhichen said simply.
“Of course. Here is the information we’ve gathered on the pirate base’s turret positions,” Colonel Buros said, sending the relevant data to Lin Zhichen.
“It includes 16 small turrets, 8 medium turrets, 8 point-defense turrets, and 4 large turrets.”
Lin Zhichen’s eyes swept over the positions of the turrets on the holographic projection, instantly memorizing their locations. The “Qinyuan” immediately powered up. “I understand. Ten minutes, follow up!”
With that, the holographic projector was already off.
On the cruiser “Edward,” Colonel Buros furrowed his brows. Behind him, several staff officers exchanged puzzled glances.
“Sir, is he joking? Ten minutes might not even be enough for a ship to turn around!” one of the staff officers asked hesitantly.
“Don’t underestimate him. He has the potential to become as great as the Federation hero Buros Decar,” Colonel Buros said thoughtfully.
“Have the fleet ready in five minutes, prepared to launch at any moment!”
Piloting the “Qinyuan,” Lin Zhichen’s gaze followed the gravitational sensor’s detection waves, making the entire star region faintly visible.
Using the detection waves to spread psionic perception greatly expanded the range, but the clarity of the detection rapidly decreased.
Fortunately, after a period of adaptation, he had become quite adept at accurately identifying obstacles of various sizes within his perception.
At this moment, using this special vision, he traced the energy flow lines within the pirate base and, combined with the previous turret layout, accurately pinpointed the targets.
The “Qinyuan” rapidly accelerated during flight, quickly reaching sub-light speed and slanting towards the asteroid.
“Beep beep~”
The urgent radar echoes resonated within the base. Already on high alert due to the Rockefeller family’s fleet attack, the pirate NPCs immediately sprang into action, rushing to their posts. The entire base’s defenses reached their peak in a short time.
But it was futile. When the radar speed data came in, the high-ranking pirates in the central control room were so terrified that they trembled and could barely stand. “It’s that demon! That demon has returned!”
Twenty days ago, the one-sided massacre in the space battle before the base made all the pirates who witnessed it tremble. The destruction of three hundred warships proved the terror of that sub-light speed demon.
Now, he was back!
“Boom boom~”
Suddenly, bursts of fire erupted within the base. Those were the turrets hit by electromagnetic projectiles!
The “Qinyuan” was incredibly fast, and the NPC crew members, who had just begun their cultivation journey, had significantly enhanced reaction speeds. With his experience, Lin Zhichen also filtered out more irrelevant information, increasing the difficulty of targeting…
With the combined effects, the “Qinyuan” delivered a staggering blow. Observing from a distance, the Rockefeller family’s fleet was shocked to see a series of explosions suddenly erupt. Almost in an instant, all the marked pirate turret positions were precisely hit.
The entire base lost its ability to resist almost immediately, and at this point, the “Qinyuan’s” sub-light speed charge hadn’t even reached the closest area to the asteroid base.
Having completed its mission, the “Qinyuan” traced an arc through space and vanished into the depths of the asteroid field in an instant, leaving behind a group of stunned onlookers.
“…” Colonel Buros stared wordlessly at the last message left in the holographic communication: “Mission complete. Please send the spoils back to the mercenary group’s headquarters.”
He realized that, despite his best efforts to overestimate the opponent, what had just transpired made it clear that he could never use ordinary thinking to comprehend an extraordinary existence.
