Chapter 56 - Early Awakening of Talent Skills
Chapter 56 Early Awakening of Talent Skills
Qin Feng stared at the photo of Zhou Changtong in shock.
Could it be that Zhou Changtong’s crimes were connected to the Lin family?
“Brother, could this Zhou Changtong be the one doing business with the Lin family?” Chuchu’s eyes widened.
“It seems likely,” Qin Feng took a deep breath.
“Let’s report this right away!” Chuchu said, getting excited.
Exposing the connection between the Lin family and Zhou Changtong would certainly cause them a huge headache. Trading with a fugitive wanted by the Alliance was a massive offense.
Even though the Lin family was powerful in Yunyang City, they were merely average within the Southern Alliance.
“Don’t act rashly!” Qin Feng stopped her calmly.
“Why not?” Chuchu was confused.
“If you report this, where’s the proof? You’re the only one who saw that message, and without evidence, your claim is groundless. Your report won’t have any real impact and might even alert the Lin family, making them cancel the deal,” Qin Feng explained as he sat back down on the sofa.
“So what do we do?” Chuchu asked, reluctantly sitting down beside him.
Qin Feng tapped his knee, thinking. After a moment, his eyes lit up. “Chuchu, have you considered that the item Zhou Changtong is trading with the Lin family must be incredibly valuable? It might even be linked to the beast tide that hit Ice Moon City.”
“Huh… how does that relate to the beast tide?” Chuchu was confused.
“Think about it! Zhou Changtong was once a noble in Ice Moon City, and just last night, the city was hit by a beast tide. Now, Zhou Changtong is on the wanted list. Isn’t that too much of a coincidence?”
Chuchu’s eyes brightened, realizing there was indeed a connection.
“Moreover, three days ago, Zhou Changtong secretly contacted the Lin family, planning a transaction in Luohua Mountain. And the meeting is set for midnight tonight, which means this has been planned for a while,” Qin Feng continued.
“This beast tide could very well be part of their scheme to achieve some hidden goal.”
“My gosh!” Chuchu gasped, feeling as if they had uncovered a massive secret.
“That’s why I need to go to Luohua Mountain!” Qin Feng stopped tapping his knee.
Chuchu was startled, “Brother, you’re planning to go to their meeting?”
“Exactly!”
“Why?”
“To gather evidence of their deal. If I can take photos or videos of them trading, the Lin family won’t be able to deny it. Or perhaps…” A mischievous smile curled on Qin Feng’s lips.
He also wanted to see what valuable item Zhou Changtong and the Lin family were exchanging. If the opportunity arose, he wouldn’t mind double-crossing them and stealing it.
“Brother, I don’t agree with you going!” Chuchu tugged at Qin Feng’s clothes, worried he would run off.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” Qin Feng reassured her, pinching her cheek.
“How can you be fine? Zhou Changtong is a three-star fire elementalist, and you’ve only just reached one-star. You can’t possibly defeat him! Plus, the Lin family’s people will be there, and they’re strong too.”
“If you go, it’s too dangerous. I don’t want you to risk it…” Chuchu’s eyes began to water.
Qin Feng knew she was reluctant to let him go. “Little one, I knew you’d feel this way,” he said, trying to comfort her. “Watch me closely.”
As he spoke, his body slowly began to fade, becoming completely invisible. Even his presence disappeared.
Chuchu was stunned, her eyes wide.
My brother vanished!
She reached out and touched where Qin Feng had been standing, feeling his body materialize again.
“Wow! Brother, you’ve mastered a new skill?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.
“Something like that,” Qin Feng chuckled, revealing that this was his newly developed stealth technique.
“You’re amazing! I heard that elementalists typically awaken their abilities at three-star level. But you’re only a one-star and already have a skill!” Chuchu was filled with awe.
“See? Your brother has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. So now you’re okay with me going, right?” Qin Feng asked with a smile.
“…Fine,” Chuchu pouted, reluctantly agreeing.
Qin Feng smiled back, pulling out his phone to check the map.
He quickly found the location of Luohua Mountain, which lay between Yunyang City and Ice Moon City. It was a dangerous area teeming with fierce beasts, where even one- and two-star elementalists rarely ventured.
The map marked it with red circles to indicate its high level of danger.
“Chuchu, Luohua Mountain is over 300 li from here. Their transaction is set for midnight, so I need to leave soon to make it on time,” Qin Feng said while transferring 500 million in Tong coins to Chuchu, leaving only a little over 300 million for himself.
“Brother, why are you giving me so much money?” Chuchu asked after receiving the transfer notification from the bank.
“I don’t have time to buy you gear today. Use the money to buy what you need. And use whatever’s left to buy me some wind and fire element beast cores,” Qin Feng explained.
“Got it,” Chuchu nodded obediently.
“I’ll be off now,” Qin Feng stood up.
He needed to set off for Luohua Mountain right away, as 300 li wasn’t a short journey.
“Brother, be careful!” Chuchu pleaded, grabbing onto his sleeve.
“I know,” Qin Feng reassured her, playfully pinching her cheek.
At that moment, footsteps sounded outside the door, and Liu Yan, dressed in her military uniform, strode in with her usual commanding presence.
“Are you heading out?” Liu Yan asked after overhearing Qin Feng’s goodbye to Chuchu from outside the door.
“Yes, I’ve got something urgent to take care of. I’ll be gone for a day or two. I’m leaving my sister here, so please look after her,” Qin Feng responded.
“Don’t worry. As long as she’s with me, nothing will happen to her!” Liu Yan assured him.
After all, Chuchu was too valuable for her to let anything happen to her.
“Thanks a lot,” Qin Feng smiled—a smile so dazzling and charming that Liu Yan couldn’t help but be captivated.
His smile was like that of a gentle, graceful nobleman, refined and aloof, yet incredibly striking.
For a moment, Liu Yan was mesmerized by his handsomeness.
“By the way, it’s dangerous outside the city lately, especially with the potential for more beast tides. You shouldn’t wander outside,” Liu Yan cautioned him just as he was about to leave.
“Yeah, I saw the news on TV. Was that what you were dealing with earlier?” Qin Feng asked.
“Yes.”
“By the way, does your military district have any wind or fire element beast cores for sale? I’d like to buy some,” Qin Feng inquired.
He was eager to strengthen his abilities and had no time to waste traveling back to the city to shop.
“We don’t have any fire cores, but we do have a wind core. What do you need it for?” Liu Yan was curious.
“I have my reasons,” Qin Feng didn’t elaborate. “Can I buy it from you?”
“Sure!” Liu Yan smiled and immediately called someone. “Xiao Qi, go to the supply depot and retrieve the wind element beast core… Yes, right away, bring it to my office.”
After hanging up, she flashed a cheeky grin. “Come on, let’s go to my office!”
Qin Feng was overjoyed. He hadn’t expected they actually had one available. Getting a wind core before his trip would definitely boost his strength.
He was eager to find out just how much stronger he would become after absorbing it…
