Chapter 756: Clan Chat
"Exotic materials…" Shane muttered as he observed the store for a brief moment.
The vendor was a thin man with gold rings through both eyebrows… It was such a noteworthy appearance since this style wasn't commonly seen.
"Last batch of Uncorrupted Sable Fur! Tier 3 material—soft as silk, tough as crocodile hide! Once it's gone, it's gone!"
Shane considered for a moment before doing some bulk orders…
Well, each Tier 3 Fur that was about a meter long was only worth 10 Points each and a bulk order was only 100 Points at its base price…
"Mhmm…"
These things could be used for luxury items, and Shane was interested in that.
Right now, his shelters have a lot of resources to make swords, guns, Mech Frames, Warden Units, vehicles, and buildings…
However, they lacked luxurious things.
At this stage of the Apocalypse, where more and more Level 50 Survivors are appearing, only Zombie Kings and Zombie Lords could cause some real trouble aside from massive Zombie Waves.
Because of that, every clan was starting to develop faster…
Hunting Zombies outside was no longer just for survival but for resources and experience points.
For those non-combatants, life within the shelters could be very boring…
This was why Shane had swiftly built various entertainment hubs like taverns, coffee shops, and various plazas or places where people could meet or socialize… hoping that it could also boost their population in the long term.
However, that was simply not enough… A lot of non-combatant Survivors had become wealthy and needed some things that they could spend their money on…
For that reason, Shane started bidding on a lot of precious furs for coats, hats, gloves, shawls, and even for rugs…
"Now… Let's see the other shops." Shane muttered as he left the stall.
Across the street, a more permanent shop drew attention…
Instead of a small stall, he saw a small building with a banner, The Gear Vault.
Seeing that there was a 100-point fee just to enter the shop, Shane got curious and paid the fee... After all, this had pushed out several customers, making the place a lot quieter.
Furthermore, they must be confident about their items to give such a fee.
There were only about a dozen customers looking around the shop.
Its interior had controlled temperature, making it a lot more refreshing than the outside.
Looking around, there were weapons displayed like museum pieces behind reinforced glass.
A gleaming spear labeled Lightpiercer was placed on one of them.
A posted sign listed the base price at a staggering 5,000 points—no bids yet.
Still, Shane wasn't interested in such weapons.
He even walked past a greatsword with serrated edges, a heavy hammer that seemed to be alive, and a set of chainmail armor that looked almost ceremonial.
Not everything here was outrageously priced, though. Hidden between the showpieces, he spotted a few practical weapons, a compact crossbow, a reinforced riot shield, even a pair of well-balanced short swords, most of them hovering between 300 to 700 points. Affordable by auction standards, but clearly well-crafted.
However, the far wall was where the true gems lay.
And in the very center of that wall, encased in thick glass, stood the most expensive piece in the store: a device shaped like a disc with a core of swirling blue light. It seemed like it was being powered by a Mana Crystal, Spirit Stone, or something similar.
Soon, he checked the item description.
[ Great Force Mobile Barrier Generator — Base Price: 12,000 Points
Current Bid: 15,000 Points
Buyout: 25,000 Points
Time Remaining: 1 Hour, 48 Minutes ]
Shane stepped closer, eyeing it with genuine curiosity.
It was too expensive. It was like a scam. However, Shane didn't voice it out.
The store owner, a tall man in a black coat, approached with a polite smile.
"Ah, you have a good eye. This is one of our crown jewels. The Barrier Generator is capable of projecting a hemispherical energy shield up to twenty-five meters in radius. It can withstand sustained damage equivalent to a hundred rifle rounds or several direct clashes against tanks… Recharge time is two hours, and it has an operational duration of 45 minutes even while in constant barrage. Most importantly, it can be moved!"
"Impressive," Shane said, though inwardly, he was underwhelmed. Compared to his own Bio-Barrier Generator, Bulwark Beacon, Guardian Node, or even Aegis Force Barrier, which could adapt its strength, redirect energy impacts, and even be layered for overlapping defense, this seemed… basic. Functional, yes, but simple in its capabilities.
His Warden Units alone could generate better coverage on the move.
Shane gave a polite nod. "Solid piece of equipment. Just not what I need right now."
The store owner smiled knowingly. "It is not for everyone. But for the right team, it's priceless."
Shane moved on, his attention caught by something smaller in one of the side cases. It was a tray holding a set of steel blades. Each of them was no longer than his forearm.
Their edges also showed that they were throwing knives or, in some cases, Flying Knives.
[ 24 Whisperfang Daggers — Telekinetic Responsive ]
Base Price: 550 Points
Current Bid: 1,250 Points
Buyout: 4,000
Time Remaining: 1 Hour, 46 Minutes
He couldn't help but think of Layla—her mastery of Telekinesis would make these blades deadly beyond conventional limits. With her control, she could turn them into a storm of steel.
Shane smirked and opened the Clan Chat before sending a message.
[ Shane: Whisperfang Daggers — Telekinetic Responsive. The Gear Vault, Market Bazaar Sector C-4. Base 550 Points, current 1,250. Buyout is 4,000 points. You'll want to see this, Layla. ]
A small ping confirmed the post went through. Then, after that, Shane realized that there were already a lot of messages from the others.
[ Tundra: Found a Dragonbone Bow at a place called Emberstring Armory. Base 2,100. Still a lot of time left. Raze, just in case you're interested… I think it's filled with Draconic Power. Can your dragon absorb it or something? ]
