Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 670: Last Fight

Shane already had a full grasp of the Zombie Lord's reaction speed, recovery rate, flight ability, skills, and range…

Considering all of that, Shane now felt confident even without the assistance of the Snipers from afar.

As he stood with his feet and stared at the Zombie Lord, his right hand opened, and the Meteor Greatsword was returned to the Inventory in a flicker of light.

In its place, he summoned a different weapon, one that was filled with the aura of the winds themselves.

The Gale Blade.

[ Gale Blade ( Legendary ): A one-handed double-edged blade forged from rare, wind-infused metal. Light yet durable, the Gale Blade is designed for swift attacks and carries the elemental force of a cyclone.

Effects:

Windstrike ( Passive Effect ): Each slash with the Gale Blade has a chance to unleash a razor-sharp wind arc, dealing 60% more damage to enemies within a 5-meter range.

Light as Air ( Passive Effect ): Reduces the weapon's weight to near zero, increasing the wielder's attack speed by 60% and improving movement agility by 20%.

Stormguard Aura ( Passive Effect ): Surrounds the wielder with a protective wind barrier, reducing all ranged projectile damage by 40% and granting 50% resistance to wind-based effects. ]

The Gale Blade materialized.

It was a sleek, one-handed sword with a hint of blue light as it moved…

Shane then waved the sword lightly to adjust to the new weight of the sword and just like that, a razor-thin arc of wind screamed forward, slicing through a nearby stone…

Zar'Zhul, on the other hand, shrieked in fury. It was already so annoyed at the fact that Shane wasn't going down...

No matter what technique it tried, it couldn't kill Shane at all. His Bio-Armor, his Shield, his Speed, and his Strength were just too unbelievable…

Nonetheless, the Zombie Lord wasn't giving up. Neither could Shane.

Shane then tightened his grip on his sword...

Soon, Wind gathered around him, and the Stormguard Aura formed a translucent protection around him by circulating gales that layered his armor.

In that moment, with the winds ready to aid him and his enemy coming closer, Shane felt ready.

Whoosh~

Soon, Zar'Zhul dove.

Its claws swept downward as it tried to attack Shane once more…

Shane then moved forward with Flash Step, narrowly dodging the swipe. Well, Shane's agility was boosted by the 'Light as Air' effect of the Gale Blade.

The two combatants then clashed and exchanged several moves to the point that the Snipers couldn't even see the two's movements!

They were simply too fast and they knew that they could no longer assist Shane at this moment.

Nonetheless, Shane found an opportunity after a few more attacks. he slashed horizontally, and his Windstrike triggered!

It was a Passive Effect, and he had no control over when it would activate.

Still, the moment it did, a sharp arc of air sliced into Zar'Zhul's thigh.

Pssh~

Its black blood hissed.

The creature shrieked again, and it tried to get away to take some time to regenerate the wound. It tried to slam Shane away with its wing, but it wouldn't be so easy...

Thud!

The two of them collided, and Shane wasn't the only one who was thrown away, as he also attacked the Zombie Lord with his sword…

Still, as Shane tumbled, landed on his feet thanks to his Combat Roll passive and used the Momentum Shift skill, reversing his retreat into a forward sprint!

This Momentum Shift was truly one of the skills that could give him an unexpected advantage during a fight…

Just like that, his speed surged as he activated Phantom Rush.

Zar'Zhul then pushed forward as it knew that it could no longer escape at this point.

—But Shane was already past it.

With a turn, Shane dragged the Gale Blade along the creature's flank.

Thud!

Thankfully, another Windstrike detonated—a slice of sharp wind energy carved into its ribs.

CRACK!

Zar'Zhul staggered.

But Shane didn't stop.

He activated Deadly Focus… This Skill increased his awareness. It was to the point that he was able to notice the sound of each heartbeat!

Still, he did this to follow the beat of each wind current and the movement of his opponent. Then, with his Heightened Awareness combined with Mental Clarity, allowed him to find the best way to attack the Zombie Lord.

Shaah~

Zar'Zhul didn't stay idle and retaliated with a corrupted breath attack...

But the Stormguard Aura shielded him, deflecting the attack that could surely incapacitate him if he wasn't careful.

Just like that, Shane slipped through the deathly miasma like a phantom.

At this point, the creature swept its massive wings!

BOOM!

Shane was flung skyward.

Midair, he activated Aerial Pivot while slashing with the Gale Blade.

He slashed a dozen times, and he was able to send three compressed wind arcs toward Zar'Zhul's exposed neck.

Thud! Thud! Clank!

Two struck home. The third missed.

Still, it was enough.

The Zombie Lord was filled with rage right now… It flapped its wings, trying to retreat, but attempting to do that while showing its back was a huge problem.

Shane was able to just throw five more Silver Daggers!

Thud! Thud! Its damaged wing, hit earlier by the Sylph's Whisper, gave way.

Soon, the Zombie Lord crashed to the ground!

Finally, it lost its ability to fly!

"Ohhh… You're dead now…" Shane muttered.

Shane then took a moment to breathe.

Despite having ascended, he could still get tired, especially with the Zombie Wave that could last 24 hours.

Shane was panting now, his stamina was already burning because of his almost nonstop battles.

Thankfully, his Top Challenger Title was helping him all this time...

[ Title: Top Challenger ]

[ Awarded to Survivors who reach Level 60 in the Zombie Challenge Event, proving their strength and adaptability in the face of overwhelming odds.

Effects:

Zombie Slayer: Increases damage dealt to zombie-type enemies by 20%.

Durable Spirit: Reduces stamina consumption by 15% during prolonged battles.

Challenge Mastery: Grants 10% increased rewards in survival-based events. ]

Looking at the time, the 24-hour Zombie Wave event was also about to end.

'I see...' Shane thought as he realized why this Zombie Lord was a bit too strong.

Perhaps, it wasn't really meant to be defeated...
