Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 667: Flying Zombie Lord

As Shane was confirming the appearance of the Flying Zombie that was coming at this Shelter, he received a notification from the system.

[ You have entered a Lord-Tier Zombie's Area. ]

[ Name: Zar'Zhul, the Winged Calamity

Type: Flying Aberration – Plagueborne Harbinger

Threat Level: Catastrophic

Description: Zar'Zhul is the first of its kind—a Zombie Lord evolved for the skies. Filled with cursed wind and rot-plague, it spreads death from above… Its wings had toxic feathers, and its shriek caused paralysis in weaker minds. ]

Shane's eyes narrowed as the screech echoed across the domain. It was so loud and powerful, even from afar.

Then, through Cloud's analysis of the reports they obtained from the New Genesis, Springriver Manor, and Silver Mine Camp, Shane confirmed that they were all showing the same figure…

It seemed that there were multiple versions of Zar'Zhul!

"Cloud," Shane spoke as he calmly assessed the situation. "Is it alone?"

[ Confirmed. ] the A.I. responded.

[ No horde support. Flight patterns suggest independent targeting. It is hunting for leadership units. It will most likely target the Shelter Cores and Command Hubs. ]

That was all Shane needed to hear.

It was a good thing that it was all alone as it meant that he'd need lesser force.

"Then I'm going to face it alone…"

He turned sharply toward his companions.

There were Super Soldiers, Warden Units, Jillian, Asad, Ibrahim, the Elven leaders, and the remaining Sculptors gathered near the command deck to name a few.

"I'm heading out to intercept. I won't let that thing get close to the Shelter."

Jillian nodded as she also believed that Shane would be strong enough to deal with the Zombie Lord. After all, he also had the support of the few working Automated Turrets and a couple of Snipers from the watchtower.

"We'll hold the line in your absence. No… We'll help the other shelters then." Julian said.

Shane gave a quick nod.

"Good. Inform the Sculptors as well. Take some of their morale statues to Springriver, New Genesis, and Silver Mine. Send the remaining Super Soldiers, Elves, and Warden Units as well. Each shelter needs boosts—now."

"Understood. We'll deliver the sculptures with enchantments active…" She responded as she soon started issuing commands.

"Asad…" Shane said as he looked at Asad…

Thankfully, he was now counted to his Shelter and didn't have to face another Zombie Lord. Still, Zombie Lord in front of them was definitely a lot stronger than the ones in other Shelters.

After all, the Top 1 and Top 2 Survivors in the Leaderboard were here.

"I need you to help my other Shelter… It will be the Silver Mine Camp, to be exact. The Warden Units should be for the New Genesis Shelter for defensive routines. Don't drain mana reserves unless absolutely necessary."

"Got it…" Asad said, his hand resting on his grimoire.

He was already thinking of summoning more Undead Creatures since he had already rested enough and collected enough Spirit Points.

"Alright… But… Are you really going alone? If you want, I can leave a couple of Elite Liches here to help you with Magic Firepower."

Shane appreciated the offer, but she shook his head after.

Instead, he activated his Bio-Armor as it flexed and reformed into his full-body armor. Then, he flipped his Meteor Greatsword as it magnetically locked to his back.

The Mars Shield, on the other hand, clicked into place on his arm, expanding with layered shields ready for aerial interception.

"I am fine… Just make sure to protect my little sister in the Silver Mine Camp."

"Oh? If that's the case, I'll leave now." Asad said as he headed to the Portal Hall.

As the others left, the gates of Eclipse Domain opened slowly as Shane decided not to fight the Zombie Lord in the protected walls of the Shelter.

It would be better to approach it and then have the outside instead...

Shane walked past the gate and looked at the Zombie Lord about 20 meters off the ground. It wasn't flying high enough and seemed to be interested in Shane's presence.

Zar'Zhul screeched again and its wings released gales of rotting wind.

Its wingspan was massive—easily over ten meters.

Still, it was a humanoid Zombie Lord that seemed to be an angel of death.

Nonetheless, a smirk tugged at Shane's lips.

"Let's see if the skies belong to you... or me."

As the Zombie Lord got closer, a suffocating pressure began to descend on the battlefield.

The air was suddenly filled with rot or other toxicity that normal humans wouldn't survive…

Zar'Zhul still hovered just twenty meters off the ground and Shane was already calculating how he would reach the Zombie.

Shane's vision blurred for half a second. His heartbeat spiked, but Mental Clarity kicked in, reinforcing his mental defenses and stabilizing his breath.

[ Mental Clarity Activated – Status: Immune to Mind-Shock ]

He raised the Mars Shield instinctively as the gust of corrupted wind smashed into him.

Then, his Arcane Veil activated.

It had various effects, but one of them was +50% Elemental Resistance. Thanks to that and his other defenses, the poisonous breeze passed over Shane harmlessly.

Then, without a word, he burst forward.

He used his Armored Dash, sending shockwaves behind him as his boots cratered the ground.

Zar'Zhul shrieked again and dropped altitude slightly, only fifteen meters off the ground now as the Zombie Lord responded to the threat.

It then tucked its wings inward, preparing to dive.

BOOM.

Shane stomped hard and launched himself with a Five-Meter Jump, chaining it with Titan's Roar midair.

[ Titan's Roar Activated – Nearby enemies stunned for 1.5 seconds ]

Zar'Zhul's descent staggered, and its wings spasmed.

Shane spun in midair with Vortex Spin, and his Meteor Greatsword was soon filled with energy as he smashed it against one of Zar'Zhul's wings.

CLANG!

Feathers exploded, and it dented the Zombie Lord's wings...

'No… There's a cut… This thing has a weaker defense against cuts and slashes.' Shane mused as Cloud confirmed an inch of cut on its wings.

It seemed that most of the Zombie Lord's defense relied on its feathered wings.

"I can do this…" Shane thought.
