Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 620: Shane's Shopping Spree

"That's perfect… Notify me once their Sync Rate reaches more than 85%." Shane said.

Shane had just heard Cloud's report about the Mech Pilots being trained.

To be honest, he wasn't really expecting much from them since their budget was mostly spent on the Project Warden.

The Warden Units were agile, cheaper, and didn't require human pilots. Because of that, Shane believed that focusing on this project would show more tangible results than Mech Frames…

After all, the Mech Division's deadline was supposedly two months from now and not two weeks. They simply didn't have much time to progress.

Nonetheless, with the upcoming Zombie Wave, Shane didn't mind having a few working Mech Frames that they could use in case of emergency. After all, with their size and weaponry, they could surely surprise any enemies that might come for them.

For now, Shane returned to his room as he was also quite busy today. He had visited the Silver Mine Camp and arranged various changes in that place.

Tomorrow, he had to visit the Springriver Manor, his very first shelter, to do more upgrades than the New Genesis and Eclipse Domain had.

For now, however, Shane decided to open his Survivor Store.

Previously, Shane obtained some decent items like the Eclipse Blade, the Titan's Shield, and others. Now that the Zombie Wave was coming, he believed that the system would actually give him better items for sale.

[ Venomspike Rapier ( Rare ): A slender, needle-like blade coated in neurotoxin.

Effect: Critical hits inflict "Nervebane", paralyzing the target for 1.5 seconds ( 10% chance per strike ).

Price: 150 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 15 ]

"Rapier, huh…" Shane muttered as he knew that the elves would most likely love this item.

Although he had given them some items before, they were all crossbows or longbows. Their blades were still the items forged by their blacksmiths that had just been upgraded with Item Upgrade Crystals.

'Wait… I think it's better to give these to the Warden Units…' Shane thought as the Warden Units would fight in close combat. Having a Rapier as their secondary weapon might be a good idea since they were light and also had a paralyzing effect.

In any case, Shane didn't purchase the item immediately and looked at the next one.

[ Thunderclap Gauntlets ( Rare ): Reinforced knuckles with stored electricity.

Effect: Every third punch releases a shockwave, staggering enemies in a 2-meter radius.

Price: 190 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 25 ]

"I guess this will go to the Super Soldiers." Shane muttered to himself as the number of his Super Soldiers had already increased to 30 after he had found the Serum.

With a squad of Super Soldiers that uses their physique as their main weapons, these gauntlets seemed appropriate.

[ Hollowfang Scythe ( Exceptional ): A curved blade that works perfectly against the living.

Effect: Killing an enemy with this weapon restores 5% of the user's max health. Effective only when used against the living.

Price: 500 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 2 ]

[ Emberforged Axe ( Exceptional ): A double-headed axe with a hint of flame.

Effect: Ignites targets on hit, dealing burn damage over 8 seconds (stacks up to 3 times).

Price: 550 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 1 ]

"Pass…" Shane muttered as he saw the scythe and axe's effects. For their price, Shane believed that he'd get better ones if he just upgraded some Uncommon Scythe and Axe.

[ Shatterspine Whip ( Rare ): A segmented whip tipped with barbs.

Effect: Strikes have a 20% chance to fracture armor, reducing the target's defense by 15% for 10 seconds.

Price: 145 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 20 ]

[ Nightveil Dagger ( Uncommon ): A blackened blade that drinks in light.

Effect: Attacks from stealth deal triple damage.

Price: 15 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 100 ]

On the other hand, the two items, the whip and dagger, were quite decent for their price.

The 15 Zombie Cores dagger would definitely be bought since there were also a hundred of them. Even if he couldn't use all of them, their blacksmiths could easily repurpose them.

As for the Rare Whip, Shane believed that the wall defenders would want it. After all, it was a versatile weapon they could use against flying zombies and those climber zombies.

They just need to practice swinging them for a while.

Lastly, Shane looked at the two special items. They were weapons that would be in the store for the whole 7 days, unlike the other six that could only last for 24 hours in the store.

[ Meteor Greatsword ( Master ): A large sword forged from a fallen meteorite

Special Effect: "Ruin Mark": Landing three consecutive hits on a target triggers an explosion, dealing 30% of their max health as bonus damage.

Passive: Increases the user's strength by 10% while equipped.

Price: 800 Zombie Cores ]

Quantity: 1 ( 7 days left ) ]

[ Mars Shield ( Master ): A circular shield inscribed with mystical marks.

Special Effect: "True Guard": Blocking an attack has a 25% chance to unleash damage reflect and counterattack, burning all enemies in a 4-meter cone.

Passive: Grants +20% fire resistance.

Price: 900 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 1 ( 7 days left )

"Now these prices are reasonable compared to before… Is it because a Zombie Wave is coming? Is that why I'm getting discounts today?" Shane muttered to himself.

It was a pity that there was only one of each.

However, he decided to purchase them and use them for himself.

With his strength, he could actually equip both the greatsword and the shield if he wanted to.

Then, with his Bio Armor, he believed that he could easily stand in front together with the Warden Units!

"That would be awesome." Shane chuckled as he confirmed that the items were already transferred to his inventory.

Soon, Shane navigated to the Nourishment Store, where an array of survival-focused food and drinks came into view.

Each item was designed to sustain, enhance, or protect their bodies… They were important resources since most of the items found here could not be looted in the real world.

[ Solar-Dried Venison Strips: Lean, smoky strips of meat preserved under concentrated sunlight. Restores 30% stamina instantly and grants +5% movement speed for 1 hour.

Price: 12 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 80 ]

[ Bark Biscuits (Common): Hardtack infused with iron-rich root extracts. Slowly restores 15% health over 30 minutes and reduces bleed duration by 20%.

Price: 6 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 50

[ Bitter Fungi Antidote: A murky, violet potion brewed from toxin-resistant fungi. Grants 30 minutes of poison immunity and enhances perception in darkness.

Price: 18 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 50 ]

"Whoa… These are all incredible items…" Shane muttered as he was quite shocked to see so many useful items this time. Furthermore, he liked the fact that their quantity was high!

Previously, the quantities available would only be 5 or 10 at most. However, it seemed that his luck had been better recently. He could actually buy a lot of them at the same time.

Then, Shane continued to check the next items.

[ Charged Citrus Cubes: Gelatinous cubes made from an unknown citrus fruit. Instantly removes fatigue debuffs and boosts reaction speed by 10% for 45 minutes.

Price: 14 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 25 ]

[ Scorchpepper Jam: A spicy spread made from mutated chili peppers. Increases body temperature ( prevents hypothermia ) and adds +3% critical hit chance for 2 hours.

Price: 8 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 40 ]

[ Hydration Core Tablet: Compressed mineral tablets that purify water when dropped into a canteen. Converts up to 10L of contaminated water into clean drinking water.

Price: 4 Zombie Cores for 1 pack containing 8 tablets.

Quantity: 100 ]

Shane gently nodded as he knew that he would purchase these items. They were all useful and the kitchen staff would surely be happy once he brought them these items.

After this, Shane decided to check the 7-day items for sale.

[ Golden Feather Tea: A golden brew made from the petals of a rare regenerative flower.

Effects: "Rebirth Warmth": Drinking it fully restores health over 1 minute and grants +10% health regeneration for 24 hours.

Passive: Cures one random minor mutation (e.g., skin rot, nerve decay).

Price: 380 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 5 ( 7 days left ) ]

"Whoa… This is definitely worth the price…" Shane muttered in shock as he read the effect. It was simply too good!

With such an incredible effect, he couldn't help but feel excited about the second one.

[ Mutant's Marrow Broth: A thick, slimy broth boiled from the bones of an unknown mutant.

Effect: "Boneforge": Increases maximum health by 15% for 8 hours.

Passive: Reduces incoming fracture damage by 25%.

Price: 450 Zombie Cores

Quantity: 10 ( 7 days left ) ]

"Another awesome effect."

Shane couldn't help but look at these two items. Curing mutations or diseases was invaluable, especially before the Fourth Zombie Wave. The cost wasn't even a big deal at this point.

As for the Marrow Broth, it was equally tempting. A health boost like that could mean the difference between life and death. They would be good emergency food…

However, he knew that these things would have expiration once he took them out of Inventory, so he had to be mindful of them once he purchased them.
