Gigas Core

Chapter 23: Reidan's Awakening and Panic in the Empire

A few hours later, "Creak... groan..." the ground began to tremble. Rai and Erin immediately stood up. They saw the cocoon starting to crack and emit a red light.

"She's about to come out, get ready, Erin!" Rai said, panicking.

"Y-yes, big brother," Erin replied, shielding her eyes with her arm because of the glare.

"Groaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!"

A loud roar echoed, shaking the entire dungeon building and making rocks fall from the ceiling. A dazzling red light immediately filled the room. Rai and Erin covered their eyes with their arms, as it was too bright. "Waaaaaaah!" Suddenly, Rai and Erin fell underground. Rai opened his eyes and saw a large, scaly red thigh right in front of him. He looked up and saw Reidan's immense body, so large that her head wasn't visible.

"Groaaaaaaaaaaaaar!"

Reidan roared again, then the thigh in front of Rai started to lift, but "Thud!" her foot fell back down. It seemed Reidan was trying to climb out. Rai looked left and right, searching for Erin.

"Erin!" Rai shouted.

"I'm here, big brother!" Erin said, floating next to Rai, who was falling.

Rai saw Erin's legs had turned into tentacles that could float, and his heart felt a little calmer. "Creak... groan..." Reidan tried to climb out, her legs destroying the surrounding structure.

"This is bad, we could get buried here!" Rai said, still falling into the depths.

"Yeah, big brother," Erin replied, floating next to him.

Rai transformed his legs into massive Raigan legs and stepped deep into the ground, then he jumped, carrying Erin, who was floating next to him. As they ascended, Reidan's massive, red, curved body became more visible. Rai saw Reidan's long, sharp, whip-like tail starting to move, trying to find a way out.

"Big brother!" Erin shouted, pointing at Reidan's tail.

"I know!" Rai said, still ascending.

Finally, they reached Reidan's head, which looked very much like a horned dragon. Reidan's hands moved, trying to climb out, destroying the entire mansion attached to the cliff. "Crack!" The cliff collapsed, pulled by Reidan's enormous hands, breaking into pieces. Rubble from the cliff fell. Rai transformed his hands into large Raigan hands to block the falling debris from hitting him and Erin, who was floating next to him.

When he managed to get ahead of Reidan, all the way to her head, Rai immediately threw Erin so she would land on Reidan's shoulder.

"Erin, watch Reidan for a second, I have to go down and jump again!" Rai shouted.

"Okay, big brother (she turned to look at Reidan's head and floated closer to her). Big sister Reidan, calm down," Erin said.

"Groaaaaaaaaaaaaar!"

Finally, Reidan managed to climb out of the very deep valley while Rai fell back into the valley. "Thud!" Rai landed deep in the dark valley. He looked up, but suddenly,

"Skreeeeeeaaaaaaak!"

Rai looked behind him. He saw a bone dragon and a necromancer lich standing on its head. He instantly felt weak.

"Great, now a Rank S bone dragon monster and a Rank S necromancer lich appear. first boss and second boss joined forces, Just my luck," Rai said sarcastically.

"Groaaaaaaaaar!"

Suddenly, Reidan's hand came down, and "Grab!" she immediately grabbed the bone dragon along with the necromancer lich standing on its head. Rai looked up at Reidan's body, which stood tall again and raised its hand. "Gulp!" Reidan swallowed the bone dragon and the lich in one gulp.

"Now she eats bones, great," Rai mumbled to himself, looking up.

"What are you doing, big sister Reidan! you can't eat that, it's gross!" Rai can hear Erin's yell echoes from up there.

"Hup!" Rai jumped up again. "Thump... thump!" Reidan began to walk, and each step shook the ground. Rai landed above the valley, and Erin immediately floated over to Rai. They saw Reidan walking towards the desert. When Rai saw the direction Reidan was going, his face immediately turned pale.

"Oh no!" Rai said.

"What do you mean by oh no, big brother?" Erin asked anxiously.

"That direction... she's heading towards the Sandrion Empire in the middle of the desert!" Rai replied, pointing at Reidan in the distance.

"Huh... that empire is far away from here, isn't it, big brother?" Erin asked.

"Not for a giant-sized kaiju, Reidan... Come on, Erin, we have to stop Reidan before she reaches the empire and goes wild, quickly!" Rai said, transforming his legs into Raigan legs.

"Y-yes, big brother," Erin replied, transforming her legs into tentacles and floating.

Rai immediately jumped far and jumped again when he landed, chasing after Reidan, while Erin floated beside him.

Meanwhile, at the same time, in the watchtower located at the fortress surrounding the hill where the empire's capital stood. "Thump... thump!" A pounding sound echoed from a distance, and the ground shook as the thumping sound registered. A wolf-type beast man guard on duty in the tower immediately grabbed onto the edge of the tower as everything swayed.

"Huh... what's going on? An earthquake?" he thought to himself.

"Thump... thump!"

The guard perched on the edge of the tower, searching for the direction from which the ground-shaking thumping sound originated. In the distance, he saw a large dot moving on the horizon. He tried blinking a few times and squinting to confirm his vision. He saw the large dot moving in the distance; finally, he grabbed a telescope and looked towards the large dot moving on the horizon.

"Clatter!" "Thud!" The guard dropped his telescope and fell to a seated position, mouth agape and his whole body trembling, he saw the true form of the dot he had seen on the horizon, drawing closer.

"Gi-gi-giant monster!" he stammered, terrified.

"Ding... ding... ding!"

The sound of bells rang from another tower. Apparently, he wasn't the only one who saw the large red monster walking towards the capital from a distance. "Tap!" A bearded, wolf-type beast man wearing knight-like clothing climbed up. He saw the guard, who was pale and sitting motionless. He bent down and picked up the telescope, then looked out from the side of the tower.

"Huh."

He looked once more to make sure his eyes weren't experiencing the common desert hallucinations. After confirming that the monster heading towards the city was indeed real, the knight immediately turned to the guard.

"Hey, quickly tell the emperor! Deploy guards to evacuate the civilians around the fortress and bring them to the capital, move! now! There's no time left!" the knight ordered.

"Y-yes, sir," the guard stammered.

The guard immediately crawled to the stairs and went down, while the knight continued to watch Reidan, who was getting closer and looked massive, even though she was still on the horizon.

"Thump... thump!"

"Grrrk... grrrk!" The tower swayed from the tremors. The knight turned to look around the tower.

"This is wild! It's still so far away, yet its steps can cause vibrations in the ground. Truly a monster from legend, a Gigas! The emperor must be able to see it from the palace," he said, continuing to use the telescope to monitor Reidan's movement.

Meanwhile, at the same time, in the palace, in the emperor's study room, "Bang!" a knight entered the room with a pale face. He immediately knelt before an emperor who seemed to be reading a letter.

"Y-your Majesty," the knight stammered.

"What is it?" the emperor asked.

"Gi-giant monster... a Gigas from legend is approaching our city!" the knight said.

"What?!"

"Crash!" The emperor stood up. He glanced at the letter he had just read, then he ran out of his study room, followed by the knight. The emperor went to the balcony. There, two knights were using a type of telescope that stood tall like a submarine's periscope. As soon as the lion-type beast man emperor entered the balcony, the two knights immediately saluted.

"Show me," the emperor ordered.

"Please, Your Majesty, Emperor Gelasius," one of the knights replied, stepping away from the very tall, S-shaped pipe.

The emperor peered into the periscope's lens and saw the figure of Reidan approaching his empire. His face fell and went pale in seconds,

"Oh, goddess, I just read a letter from Saber in Trierra City about Gigas attack to the city days ago... and now that Gigas is coming here instead. The legend is true, Gigas really exist. What should I do now? Can we survive that giant monster rampage? (turn to the knights) leave the city, evacuate all civilians to our second capital, NOW," Gelasius gave his order to his knights, his face filled with shock and terror.

"Ye..yes, Your Majesty," reply the knights.
