Chapter 128: Boyfriend
"Also, I'll have to trouble you with looking after little Mayu from now on, just like you did with Minami"
Byakuya hadn't forgotten about Mayu's situation.
"Of course. Since you and Eto adopted her, that makes her my granddaughter, doesn't it?"
Yoshimura agreed without hesitation.
He had always been willing to help weaker ghouls, and even more so when it came to the child adopted by Byakuya and Eto.
…
While Byakuya and Yoshimura were talking, Touka, Minami, and the others had returned.
"Wait, Eto is the Manager's daughter?!"
Minami was shocked when she heard the news.
She had known both Yoshimura and Eto for so long but had never once thought they were related.
Thinking back, it did explain why the Manager had been acting strange lately. Ever since Eto showed up at the shop, something had been off.
But until now, she hadn't connected the dots.
"Daughter? Father?"
Touka pondered for a moment. "So Manager is Big sister's dad?"
"That's right. I never really mentioned it before, but my full name is actually Yoshimura Eto."
Now that things had come this far, there was no reason to hide her real name from Minami and Touka anymore.
"Ohhh…"
But wait…
Minami suddenly realized something.
She had never seen the Manager's wife before. But whether she had been human or ghoul…
Wouldn't their child be at least half-ghoul?
Yet, Eto had always seemed completely human. Minami had even seen her eat regular human food multiple times.
Minami wasn't very knowledgeable about these things and had no idea how rare one-eyed ghouls were.
So, she assumed that the Manager's wife had been human and mistakenly believed that a human-ghoul hybrid could live just like a normal human.
This, in turn, led her to another thought—if she and Arima had a child, would their child be like Eto?
At that moment, Minami's face turned bright red.
She patted her cheeks, scolding herself for having such shameless thoughts.
"Minami, why is your face all red? Are you feeling sick?"
Touka, noticing her flushed expression, asked with innocent concern.
"N-No, it's nothing!"
Minami forced an awkward smile.
There was no way she could let little Touka know what she had been thinking—it was embarrassing and totally inappropriate for a child.
Eto, of course, saw right through her. With a smirk, she teased, "So, when are you bringing that boyfriend of yours to Anteiku?"
"Boyfriend?"
Touka's big, bright eyes blinked in confusion.
Then she remembered seeing the term in a manga before and roughly understood what it meant.
"Whoa! Minami already has a boyfriend? That's amazing!"
Touka looked genuinely impressed.
Meanwhile, Ayato, who was even younger, had no idea what they were talking about.
"Wait, wait—Minami has a boyfriend? Did you meet him at school? Is he a human?"
Hikari suddenly became very interested.
"Next time, bring your boyfriendto the shop. We'll give him a free meal."
Irimi added with a grin.
"No! It's not like that!"
Minami quickly waved her hands in protest. "We're just classmates, and…"
She trailed off, hesitant to finish her sentence.
She had been about to say, "And Arima is a ghoul investigator."
Even though the Manager already knew about Arima, she still felt it was better not to bring it up herself.
"Oh, I get it. Just a very close classmate, huh?"
Hikari chuckled. "Well, I guess dating a human would come with a lot of challenges, but don't worry, we're all rooting for you!"
"Ugh…"
Minami's face turned even redder.
Because Hikari's guess was spot on, and she had no way to refute it.
"Alright, Hikari, don't tease Minami too much."
Arata spoke up, trying to ease the situation.
Just then, Byakuya and Yoshimura came downstairs together.
"Seems like you were all having quite the lively conversation while we were gone."
Yoshimura commented.
Seeing Byakuya and Yoshimura walking side by side, Minami had a sudden realization.
Wait a minute…
Didn't this mean that Byakuya had already met Eto's family?
That was… way ahead of where she was.
Minami couldn't help but feel a mix of admiration and envy.
If only she could get to that stage with Arima too… But forget meeting his family—they weren't even at that level yet.
After that, Byakuya handed out the remaining gifts to Touka, Ayato, Arata, and Minami.
He had prepared something for everyone in Anteiku.
For Touka and Ayato, he had brought toys.
For Minami, he had chosen various stationery supplies—since she was a diligent student, after all.
As for Arata, Byakuya wasn't sure what he liked, so he had opted for a wristwatch—a safe, all-purpose gift.
"I wasn't expecting a gift, but thanks a lot."
Arata said, surprised.
"Are you all settling in well here at Anteiku?"
Byakuya asked Arata.
The "you all" was clearly referring to the Kirishima family.
Having them join Anteiku was actually part of his plan all along.
Back when he had intervened with Yomo and Uta, he had already anticipated that Yomo might bring his sister's family to Anteiku afterward.
Since this was something he had helped set in motion, he wanted to check in on how things were going.
"Yeah, it's been great. Touka and Ayato are happy here too."
Arata replied.
Seeing Byakuya chatting casually with his sister and brother-in-law, Yomo's expression became a little complicated.
Noticing Yomo's reaction, Byakuya turned to him and spoke in a calm tone.
"We may have 'met' back in the 4th Ward, but I'm not your enemy."
