Chapter 105: Pillow
Although there were two bedrooms in the house, there was currently only one bed.
Byakuya was considering whether he should just make do with the couch in the living room.
After some thought, he grabbed a pillow and a blanket and headed to the living room.
Eto, who had just finished drying her hair with a hairdryer, saw Byakuya's actions and was immediately puzzled.
She followed him and asked, "What are you doing?"
"Sleeping here."
Byakuya replied casually.
Eto was silent for a moment. "...What, now that Mayu is here, you're too shy to sleep together?"
"It's just not appropriate anymore."
Byakuya answered with a straight face.
"You're suddenly being so particular about this. Fine, suit yourself."
Eto didn't plan to say more.
This was actually a good opportunity. If Mayu woke up in the middle of the night looking for "Dad" she could just go to the living room and wake Byakuya up.
The thought of it amused her.
Entering the bedroom, Eto moved quietly, doing her best not to wake Mayu.
As she slipped into bed, she suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable without her usual pillow to hug.
...
In the middle of the night, Mayu suddenly woke up.
She had had a nightmare, but the softness of the bed quickly soothed her.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Eto lying beside her, but Byakuya was nowhere to be seen.
"Dad?"
Mayu whispered softly.
Byakuya, sleeping on the couch in the living room, of course couldn't hear her, but Eto did and woke up.
"Dad is sleeping on the couch in the living room."
Eto said.
"Oh... Why isn't Dad sleeping in bed?"
Mayu was confused.
Although the couch was comfortable, it couldn't compare to the big bed.
"Because Dad is an idiot. Wait a moment, I'll go get him to come sleep here."
Eto immediately got out of bed.
In the living room, Eto plopped herself down on Byakuya, instantly waking him up.
Luckily, Eto was quite light, and Byakuya's physique was strong enough that it didn't hurt him.
"What's wrong?"
Byakuya didn't have any morning grumpiness and asked calmly.
"Mayu woke up and is looking for a certain irresponsible dad~"
Eto teased.
Byakuya turned his head and saw Mayu standing at the bedroom door, holding a doll and peeking at him.
"Alright..."
Byakuya said. "But how long are you going to sit on me?"
Eto had been sitting on his stomach, making it hard for him to get up.
"Hehe~"
Eto finally jumped off Byakuya's stomach.
After that, Byakuya carried the pillow and blanket back to the bedroom.
Mayu looked a bit guilty, as she hadn't meant to wake him.
Byakuya gently patted Mayu's head and smiled.
Seeing that him wasn't angry at all, she felt relieved.
"You didn't think about it, did you? Of course, she would look for Dad when she woke up. And you wanted to sleep on the couch."
Eto teased.
"..."
Byakuya had originally thought that three people sleeping in one bed might be a bit cramped, and it might not be appropriate to sleep with Mayu.
At Eto's request, Byakuya ended up sleeping in the middle.
The result was that both Eto and Mayu used him as a pillow.
"My personal pillow is back~"
Eto said happily in his ear.
...
It had been some time since Furuta and Rizewere introduced to human society.
Byakuya had been observing Furuta and Rize's reactions and could see that the two were becoming more and more fascinated by the outside world.
They just didn't dare say it directly in front of him, probably afraid he would tell Kaiko.
Byakuya felt the timing was about right and said to Furuta and Rize, "Do you want to leave the Washuu clan?"
Hearing this, Furuta's first reaction was that he had been found out, and he panicked. "No! That's not it! I mean..."
Recently, he had been thinking more and more about helping Rize escape the Washuu clan, though he himself wasn't planning to leave yet.
If it was just one person, there might be a chance, but the risk of both of them acting at the same time was too great. If they were caught, all their efforts would be wasted.
With him secretly helping Rize, her chances of escaping would be higher, so he was willing to sacrifice himself for her.
He had just started thinking about this and hadn't even made a concrete plan yet, but somehow, Byakuya had seen through him.
He thought he was done for.
Rize, too, looked just as panicked as Furuta.
"Why are you panicking? I'm asking if you want to, not accusing you of anything."
Byakuya explained in detail.
Since they were currently in the Sunlit Garden, they weren't under strict surveillance, so it was fine to bring up such topics directly.
"Huh?"
Furuta and Rize were still a bit confused.
After a while, Furuta tentatively asked, "Do you mean... you can help us?"
"Exactly. Whether it's your identity as the Chairman's son or Rize's role as the womb I know everything."
Byakuya said calmly. "I can also see that you both yearn for the outside world."
Furuta was shocked. Byakuya knew everything...
But he wasn't concerned about how Byakuya had found out. Instead, he worried, "But won't that put you in danger?"
"Don't worry, I'll be careful."
Byakuya said. "Think about your plan, and I'll assist you when the time comes"
In the original timeline, Furuta had helped Rize escape, but the method wasn't clear.
So, he decided to let Furuta come up with the plan. With Furuta's intelligence, he might come up with a good strategy.
As for Byakuya, he didn't want to waste brain cells on this. If necessary, he could just use force to take Furuta and Rize away.
Later, Byakuya took Furuta and Rize out of the Sunlit Garden as usual and introduced them to Eto and Mayu...
