Ghost Slayer: My Wife Kanao

Chapter 57: ch55

Looking at Kai Isagi's body, Tsutako and Giyu Tomioka were a little overwhelmed and terrified. After all, it was a dead body.

For them, living in the slums, this was a situation they had never encountered before.

"Why don't we call the police?" Giyu asked in a low voice.

"Wait for the police to come, and then tell them it was killed by a demon?" Sam Miller raised his head and asked flatly.

Giyu was stunned for a moment; he hadn't thought about this question before.

Tell others that Kai Isagi was killed by a demon—who would believe it?

"Bury him," Sam said lightly.

"Okay," Tsutako suddenly responded.

Sam couldn't help turning his head to look at Tsutako. He thought she would hesitate, but he didn't expect her to agree so quickly.

It really surprised him, considering that Kai was supposed to be her fiancé...

"Actually, I never liked him," Tsutako spoke softly.

"When Kai Isagi pursued me at the beginning, I didn't agree, but he always helped our family... Like us, there are many girls living in the slums who don't really care whether they like someone or not. What's important is having a stable home. I thought that marrying someone like him and being able to live a stable life was actually quite good for a woman."

"But I didn't expect that before I got married, I would already..."

Sam didn't speak. A woman like Tsutako, living in the slums, isn't in a position to talk about love.

"Sister, he didn't deserve you at all. You don't have to feel sad for him," Giyu said, unable to help himself. In his eyes, his sister was always the best.

Tsutako reached out and rubbed her younger brother's head, but she didn't speak. A woman from the slums talking about who deserves whom seemed pointless.

"Although life is hard, the future is always bright. As long as tomorrow's us are better than today's, that's enough, isn't it?" Sam raised his head and looked at the two of them.

"Though we are in the dark, we yearn for the light," Sam murmured softly, as if saying it to himself.

Although he had become a demon, he never gave up on what he should be like as a human being.

This was probably his last attachment.

"Although you are in the dark, you yearn for the light. That's really good!"

A crisp voice suddenly sounded, startling Sam.

He couldn't help but raise his head. On the courtyard wall stood two girls, one tall and one short. The moonlight shone on their slim figures, making them look beautiful.

They were Kanae Kocho and Shinobu Kocho.

"Hello, long time no see," Kanae smiled, her toes touching the ground as she descended slowly.

Shinobu followed behind her sister, looking at Sam with beautiful purple eyes, then at the mess all over the floor, thoughtfully.

"It's been a long time, Miss Kanae, Miss Shinobu," Sam nodded, not expecting Kanae and Shinobu to appear suddenly.

But it seemed there were more than just the Kocho sisters.

Unnoticed, he looked up into the distance.

Three more masked people were rushing over.

The one in front was wearing a tengu mask with a long nose.

Behind him were a boy wearing a fox mask for dispelling disasters, and a girl with black, medium-length hair and a fox mask with a flower pattern.

If the guess was correct, the one in front should be the current Water Pillar, Sakonji Urokodaki.

And the pair of masked individuals following behind Urokodaki should be Sabito and Makomo.

He didn't expect so many people to come all at once.

"Miss Kanae," Urokodaki raised his head and looked at Kanae, who had already arrived, with a slight sense of surprise. He hadn't expected Kanae to come over.

He had come because he smelled demons nearby and wanted to check the situation.

"Mr. Urokodaki," Kanae also greeted him respectfully, as Urokodaki was her senior.

After greeting Kanae, Urokodaki set his sights on Sam.

A demon.

"Miss Kanae, is it you or me?" Sam's heart tightened, and he stepped back unconsciously, lightly pressing his hand on the hilt of his sword.

"No, don't do anything," Kanae said suddenly.

Urokodaki was slightly taken aback, as if he didn't understand, and pointed at Sam lightly. "He's..."

"I know," Kanae interrupted before Urokodaki could reveal Sam's identity.
