Chapter 744: Visiting A Friend

Noah's eyes narrowed slightly. "And if you don't?"

Mo Ji flinched at the question. Her lips trembled, but she forced herself to speak.

"If we die… someone will investigate. If they find any clues, they will take revenge quietly. If not…" Mo Ji's voice softened to a whisper, "The matter will be buried."

A long silence filled the cabin. Even the hum of the artifact seemed to dull under the weight of her words.

Noah leaned back slowly, processing. "So you were left to fate."

She nodded. "It's how it has always been. To understand death, we must taste life."

The heaviness of that mature tone, which seemed to have endured various tribulations, struck Xin Yan deeply in her maternal heart. She could not bear to see such a young woman suffer like this.

Xin Yan looked at Mo Ji for a long moment before speaking, "And how much longer until your fifty years are over?"

Mo Ji blinked, then gave a bitter smile. "Around twenty years."

Noah gave a thoughtful hum. "Then until that day comes, I suppose you're still bound to stay with us."

Mo Ji gave a wry chuckle—soft, almost inaudible—and leaned back slightly, her eyes studying Noah with renewed curiosity. The shadows of her past still clung to her expression, but her voice was steadier now, laced with something else—cautious interest.

"If you don't mind me asking…" she began carefully, her tone polite and respectful, "that healing technique you used on Zhao Yanchen… It wasn't ordinary."

Xin Yan glanced toward her, silently listening, while Noah simply raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue.

Mo Ji hesitated, then pressed on, "I've only ever seen something similar once. It was a long time ago, and the one who used it was from the Xu family… one of their healers. They say their methods can even defy fate if the price is right."

She paused, gauging his reaction.

"I don't mean to pry," she added quickly, "but that kind of healing…" Flesh reweaving itself, nerves reconnecting instantly, not even a scar left behind… It's not something just anyone can do. Are you—perhaps—also from one of the ancient families?"

For a moment, silence lingered.

Then Noah gave a faint, almost unreadable smile. It was the kind of expression that offered no answer, yet said more than words ever could.

"No," he said slowly, "I'm not from the Xu family."

Mo Ji's brows knitted slightly, clearly not expecting such a direct denial.

"I have no affiliation to any of the hidden families." Noah clarified his statement as the flying carriage they were in came to a stop.

Xin Yan, who had been controlling the flying artifact, turned to look at Noah and asked, "Where to?"

Noah hummed as he looked out of the window and responded, "Before he goes back to the Feng Empire, there is a place I want to visit."

Seeing the curious yet confused look on Xin Yan's face, Noah smirked and said, "It is time we pay our mutual friend a visit."

Noah took control of the carriage from Xin Yan and redirected the carriage in a direction away from the Quan Empire.

Noah's destination this time was a city called EverDawn City.

Unlike what some might think, this city was not under the jurisdiction of any empire or even a single force.

Not many people know about this city, as it was a well-guarded secret of the world.

Long ago, there was a time. A time when people lived in fear of the unorthodox cultivators.

The demonic cultivators who just had to kill several people to gain their powers as their own lived like kings and preyed upon the strong, especially those who held powerful bloodlines.

The righteous sects were on the brink of collapse, and the ancient clans were being hunted down one after another. Bloodlines that had lasted a thousand generations vanished overnight, their legacies drowned in blood and ash.

In the chaos, when even heaven seemed silent and indifferent, six of the oldest families came together. These weren't just noble houses—they were the remnants of those who had once stood shoulder to shoulder with celestial beings, cultivators whose power had brushed against the edge of immortality.

But even they knew… against the tide of madness, their strength alone would not be enough.

So they made a decision. A desperate one.

Using secret arts passed down through forgotten blood pacts and sacrificing the lives of their greatest ancestors—some already at the edge of life and death—they tore open a wound in space itself.

A hidden world. A sanctuary. A prison and refuge all in one.

Thus, EverDawn City was born.

This place was just like any other city on the Red Dawn Continent, but those who knew the secrets of the city knew how different it was…

The city was built atop a sealed spirit vein—a remnant of the ancient world's foundation.

This vein, too powerful to be absorbed by any single cultivator, was sealed using sacred formations and ancient blood seals, making it a font of slow, constant spiritual nourishment.

The hidden families did not only think of the present but made sure their future generation came out on top of the rest of the world and ruled them in the coming time.

The result was a place where time flowed just slightly slower, where aging halted at the peak of one's prime, and where cultivation was steady and unhurried. Children born here did not cry in the same way. Elders lived far past their natural span, and even ordinary plants grew with traces of spiritual essence.

To outsiders—those rare few who even knew of its existence—EverDawn was a myth.

But to those within… it was their own personal immortal realm!

Even though this realm, that hidden space, was built by six different hidden ancient families, many others lived in this place who supported the families in times of their need.

And one of such families was… the Yu family!

The family that was the real figurehead behind the Eternal Jade Guild!
