CHAPTER 64: Bronze 4, Four Elements?
The moment the boy positioned himself on its back, the elephant's eyes snapped open as a colossal roar escaped its mouth, shaking the air like a tempest.
ROARR—
Before the boy could register the sound in his ears, something struck his side, sending him flying for kilometers, rolling across the rocky terrain while smashing through rocks in his path, leaving a trail of shattered stone.
His body was a mess of blood and… no, wait. Nothing of the sort.
"That was awesome!!" His excited laughter echoed throughout the area as Bibo stood up nonchalantly, clapping his hands on his body to brush off the dust from his clothes, his grin wide and unyielding. "So that big elephant does not want to be ridden, huh? I will make it change its mind!"
---
Meanwhile, the days passed quickly as Lian trained relentlessly, his focus unyielding in the face of exhaustion.
"Done!" he exclaimed with a mix of fatigue and pride as a sigh escaped his lips, his voice carrying the weight of his effort.
Then—
A golden aura appeared on his body, even weaker and more malnourished than before, but with a burning desire to survive and thrive.
"This feeling is fantastic, even better than the energy from Geometric Meditation."
Soon, Lian fell into a deep trance as he broke through and experienced enlightenment for Bronze 4, his mind awash with newfound clarity.
System notifications rang in his mind, but he ignored them all, focusing only on his body and the increase in the quantity and quality of his mana.
Unlike other Mages who broke through each time they reached the required amount of mana, obtained through pills and meditation, Lian was different.
To break through, he needed to draw the right number of lines with Geometric Meditation. And to draw those lines, Lian needed a high amount of mana, a resource he cultivated with relentless determination.
The more mana he had, the easier it was for Lian to draw the lines, each one a step closer to mastery.
And after drawing the twenty-fifth line, the third circular quadrant had successfully formed, bringing Lian to achieve the coveted Bronze 4!
The golden light from Lian's body faded slowly as his body returned to its usual appearance.
Despite being weak and thin, Lian no longer emanated the aura of someone near death; on the contrary. His body radiated pure energy while his facial expression was one of pure joy and ecstasy, as if he had obtained the best thing ever, his eyes sparkling with newfound vitality.
And it was true.
"Finally!!" his exclamation echoed within the hall, his arms raised to the sky as tears streamed down his eyes, glistening like tiny jewels in the dim light.
"Water, I finally have access to the water element!"
After a few minutes spent laughing happily, Lian composed himself.
"Alright-" he said with a sigh, "Let us see what this is about…"
[Bronze 4 successfully reached!]
[Your magical abilities have improved!]
[Your physical abilities have improved!]
[New form unlocked: OVAL]
[Oval: draw an oval to shoot a jet of water]
[Mission: Reach 70% precision with OVAL to unlock a new form.]
"Yes, exactly what I expected." Lian nodded to himself as he visualized the new form, his mind already racing with possibilities.
When he had become Bronze 3 and reached 70% with the triangle, Lian could only choose between two cards.
Just like the other two forms previously unlocked in that way, the new form had four dimensions.
Its name was HYPEROVALOID, a four-dimensional ovoidal shape. Nothing too complex, really…
"Geometric Spell, Oval"
In Lian's mind, a circumference with flattened sides appeared.
"So this is what an oval looks like… it seems very complex, on the same level as the circle."
Lian began to draw the geometric shape calmly, and after a few seconds.
[Precision: 72%]
[Mission: Reach 70% precision with OVAL to unlock a new form, COMPLETED]
[CONGRATULATIONS, Lian Veyr]
[Please wait while the last remaining card is revealed]
Needless to say, Lian had truly improved. Despite it being his first time with this form, his mastery was no small feat.
The moment he completed the oval, a jet of water surged from the boy's hands, hitting the opposite wall with a satisfying splash that echoed in the chamber.
"Now I can finally wash myself!" he said with excitement, starting to remove his dirty and tattered robe, his fingers trembling with anticipation.
"Should be like this…" he murmured as he thought about the arcane formula to use to summon a gentle stream of water and not an ultra-offensive projectile like the one before, imagining a soothing cascade.
But just as he was about to realize his lifelong dream—
The sound of cracking and falling rock echoed in Lian's ears like a sudden alarm, shattering his focus.
"What is happening now!?" he wondered, frightened, only to observe the sage's figure taking form, emerging from the stone with an eerie grace.
"Oh, right… now I should be eligible for whatever that old man was talking about…" he thought, observing the man approach him with a thirty-two-tooth smile and bright eyes, radiating an aura of ancient wisdom.
"Well, well, well!" the sage clapped his hands vigorously as he observed Lian, still seated on the cold floor, full of rubble and fragments of the statues destroyed earlier, scattered like the remnants of a forgotten battle.
"Now show me all four elements together. I saw you use them while facing the statues. Now I want you to show them to me in battle."
The sage continued to stare at Lian with the same euphoric smile as he spoke of a battle, his voice carrying a weight that made the air feel heavier.
"Eh? Who am I supposed to fight?" Lian stood up, slightly dazed. His recent improvement had made him confident in his strength, but a slight fear was still etched in his psyche at the memory of the gargoyles, their stone wings haunting his thoughts.
The sage did not respond. He merely looked at Lian while circling him at a slow pace his steps deliberate, like a predator sizing up its prey.
What is going on?! thought the boy as he assumed a defensive stance, his heart pounding in his chest.
