Geometric Mage: First Spell, Circle

CHAPTER 56: Testing Combinations

"Ignis Arde, Ignis Globus"

The fireball, far more incandescent and powerful than the others but also more costly in terms of mana and concentration, streaked with intense speed toward the statue on the right, the one previously hit by the stone block Lian had launched at close range.

"Let's see if my reasoning is correct…"

The fireball quickly reached the 50-meter mark, starting to lose power and weaken.

But as it hit 55 meters, where the spell should have extinguished completely, something else happened.

The outermost layer of the fireball dissipated like smoke, unable to maintain its form at that distance.

However—

The fireball did not vanish entirely.

As the outer layer dissolved like smoke in the wind, an inner layer, denser and hotter, emerged as if by magic, a brilliant core revealed.

Smaller but more compact, with a more intense color. The fiery orb continued forward until it reached 60 meters.

Then, it happened again.

Another layer peeled away, evaporating into the air like ash swept by the wind. The second layer was exhausted… but the core kept advancing.

Even smaller, but more unstable. The air around it began to warp, a sign of the truly scorching temperature.

But at 65 meters, the third layer vanished as well.

Now only the final core remained, a compact fireball with a slightly yellower hue than normal, indicating an even higher temperature.

It trembled slightly, as if it might explode at any moment.

Lian watched with wide eyes.

"So I was right!" he exclaimed with a smile. "There really are layers of fireballs, each more powerful and compact than the last…"

"…but it's still not enough," he murmured softly, watching the final fiery core lose power and vanish at 70 meters.

Though Lian's test could be considered a success, the fireball did not reach the 100-meter threshold. From this distance, hitting the gargoyles was impossible.

He tried the same with a concentric square, launching a massive stone block toward the rightmost monster, but it did not behave like the fireball.

The stone block, unlike the fireball, had much greater weight, density, and mass.

Thus, as soon as it reached 30 meters, it fell to the ground.

"Well, I should have expected that…" A faint smile painted his hunger-ravaged face. But despite his emaciated physique, his strength remained untouched.

"And now…" Lian's smile grew more pronounced as he thought of the new shape unlocked upon reaching Bronze 3.

"Geometric Spell, Triangle"

A simple equilateral triangle appeared in Lian's mind.

When he reached Bronze 3, the system granted him a new shape, the triangle. And with it, access to the wind element.

Now he, too, could launch air blades effortlessly like Freddy and Patrick.

[Triangle: Draw a triangle to launch an air blade]

Simple and impactful, like the other shapes.

When he unlocked this new shape, the same thing happened as with the square.

He achieved 100% precision, causing a system error and adjusting the precision based on the maximum value reached with the circle.

And since he had surpassed 70%, he gained the ability to create variants. Moreover, he had unlocked a new shape, but after reading its name, Lian decided to ignore it entirely. The system was surely mocking him.

With triangle variants, creating air blades became effortless. While the square required maintaining 90-degree angles and equal sides, the triangle had no such issues.

It was more flexible.

He could create triangles of any shape and size, with angles of any degree. The only requirement was to keep the lines straight.

"Ventus Surge, Ventus Aeris"

After drawing the simplest triangle, Lian uttered the arcane formula. A powerful air blade materialized beside him, slicing through the air with speed and sharpness, creating a notable whistle, a piercing sound cutting through the silence.

The air blade traveled much faster than the fireball or earth block, but its power and sharpness faded quickly, reaching about 40 meters.

"Well, I expected that… now let's try this other thing…"

The triangle was the same, but the formula Lian uttered was different.

"Ventus Surge, Aura Levis"

A swift, powerful breeze swept the air before Lian, sending dust and debris flying. The current was strong, even more so if he used multiple triangle layers.

But one thing was clear. Watching the air current travel with speed and power toward the tower's entrance, Lian immediately thought of something interesting.

"A fusion of spells!" he hissed with excitement as he prepared to enact his plan.

This time, he would destroy the two statues without giving them any chance to fight.

"A fusion of spells…" Lian murmured, a smile curling his lips. His mind raced, reviewing the shapes he had unlocked: the Circle, the Square, and now the Triangle, each a key to unlocking his potential.

Each shape granted access to a different element, but the true strength lay in combining them intelligently. "If I can merge the power of the Circle with the speed of the Triangle, maybe…"

He closed his eyes, focusing. Hunger gnawed at his stomach, his body lean and worn, but the mana coursing through his veins made him feel alive, powerful. Geometric Cultivation had brought him close to Iron 4, and Geometric Meditation to Bronze 3.

"Let's try," he whispered, assuming a stable stance, feet firmly planted on the ground. He visualized a series of four concentric circles in his mind, the lines closing with precision.

"Ignis Arde, Ignis Globus."

A fireball formed before him, scorching and stable. Without a moment's pause, it shot at full speed toward the statue at the tower's entrance.

Without a moment's respite, the instant after forming the concentric circles, a series of triangles appeared in his mind. Their shape was simple, yet he had to draw identical triangles to create the concentric form.

"Ventus Surge, Aura Levis."

A powerful breeze rose around him, traveling with intense speed, striking the fireball that had already covered about 30 meters.

The air current enveloped the incandescent orb like a vortex, the fire fueled by the wind, increasing not only the fireball's speed but also its overall power, a blazing synergy unleashed.

The fiery orb grew larger, its outer flame already turning yellow, a sign that the temperature was rising.
