Chapter 67: Chapter 67: The Abandoned Danzo

"Don't bother me, or I will kill you first and then deal with Pein." Smith spoke calmly, but his words were heavy with warning. He had no intention of sparing Shimura Danzo. Smith had plans to subdue the Uchiha clan later, and Danzo's head would be his gift to achieve that.

"Wood Release?" Sarutobi Hiruzen's eyes widened in horror.

What exactly had the Senju clan been preparing all these years? Two individuals who could use Wood Release had appeared out of nowhere. If Konoha hadn't been facing a crisis, these two might have never shown up.

At this moment, Shimura Danzo's figure suddenly vanished, only to reappear several meters away. He stared at Smith with lingering fear and shouted, "Do you want to betray Konoha?"

"I've never been a part of Konoha, so how could I betray it?" Smith responded coldly. "You know my strength far exceeds yours. Yet, when facing an enemy, you refuse to speak harshly, but when dealing with your own village, you act with such cruelty. Whether it was the Senju clan in the past, the Konoha White Fang, or even the Uchiha clan now, you've forced them all into death using your political tactics. Perhaps it was you who killed Tobirama Senju?"

Smith sneered. "Forget it. I will rid this world of all of you."

With his words, countless vines erupted from the ground, growing at an unbelievable speed. In an instant, they turned into a dense forest, attacking everyone within the area except Smith. Whether it was the Six Paths of Pain, Danzo Shimura, or Sarutobi Hiruzen, they were all within Smith's attack range.

"Be careful! It's the Sea of Trees!" Sarutobi Hiruzen's heart sank. He couldn't shake the feeling that everything that was happening was Danzo's fault, and that he himself had no part in it.

"Shinra Tensei!" Unable to remain calm any longer, the Deva Path released a terrifying repulsive force from his body, blasting away the branches and vines surrounding him.

However, as Deva Path was clearing the vines, Smith seized the moment. His figure flashed and appeared next to the Hell Path. He conjured a wooden spear in his hand and swiftly destroyed the Hell Path.

Smith then flashed once more and hurled the wooden spear toward the Human Path, piercing through it and driving the spear deep into the ground.

Nagato, watching from afar, was shocked. He hadn't anticipated that Smith could so easily destroy two of the Six Paths of Pain with a single Shinra Tensei.

"Shinra Tensei!" The Deva Path, seeing Smith quickly condense another wooden spear, launched another wave of power toward him.

"Hmm?" Smith frowned as he felt the immense repulsive force, but he quickly broke free from it, arriving in front of the Hungry Ghost Path. He stabbed the spear with ease, destroying another Pain in the process.

In less than a minute, Smith had destroyed three of the Six Paths of Pain.

This scene left Nagato stunned. Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzo felt a chill in their hearts.

The opponent's strength seemed on par with the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama. It wasn't just the scale of the Wood Release; it was also Smith's physical prowess. The three of them began to realize that they might not stand a chance against him at all.

"What a pity," Smith sighed silently to himself. He had an eerie sense of déjà vu—there was no one here who could put up a real fight. His master's spearmanship was still superior to his own, but unfortunately, his divine power was still insufficient.

Though his divine nature was steadily strengthening, his previous foundation was still lacking. It seemed it was time for him to exchange for a new divine nature. At that point, his growth would accelerate much faster.

For now, Smith was stronger than the average demon god, and in the current ninja world, he could confidently say that there was no one who could challenge him—not even Nagato.

"Nagato, give me face and withdraw from Konoha," Smith said as he glanced at another battlefield. At that moment, Nashida was still fighting with the Nine-Tails, and Akatsuki was chasing after Uchiha Obito.

"You don't want Yahiko's body destroyed, do you?" Smith added, his words dripping with meaning.

Nagato fell silent after hearing this. He knew that Smith had the power to destroy Yahiko's body, and in his current state, he couldn't risk it. Even he, as a god, was probably no match for Smith right now.

It was becoming clear that Smith had the upper hand. There seemed to be no major conflict between the two sides, and Nagato began to reconsider his plans.

Instead of just reviving the Ten Tails, perhaps he could use it to unify the ninja world in the future.

"Danzo must die," Nagato finally declared, his voice cold.

He took a deep breath and turned his attention to Shimura Danzo, who was still struggling to avoid Smith's tree sea attack in the distance. "It's not easy to enter Konoha. I cannot let Danzo escape."

"He will die, and many others will want him dead," Smith said, his gaze shifting to Sarutobi Hiruzen, who was still trying to resist the attacks. "Third Hokage, how about we make a deal?"

"What deal?" Sarutobi Hiruzen asked, though his panic was evident.

"Declare Danzo a traitor," Smith continued with a smile. "Also, announce his past actions. In return, I'll help with the Uchiha clan's matter. Remember to show that you have an irreconcilable relationship with them. Konoha should seek to destroy the entire Uchiha clan, and I'll take them with me."

Sarutobi Hiruzen's heart sank. This was a clear attempt to force him into giving up Danzo. If Smith and the Akatsuki teamed up, Konoha had no chance of resisting them.

After thinking it over, Sarutobi knew that the situation was grim. "Alright, I'll agree," he finally muttered.

Shimura Danzo, sensing the turn of events, felt a bad premonition stir within him.

"Sorry, Danzo. Konoha's future must be secured," Sarutobi Hiruzen said with an apologetic look.

"Hahahaha, you are indeed the Hokage!" Danzo roared, grief and indignation in his voice. "This is all your fault, Hokage! If I had been Hokage, Konoha would never have been in such a situation."

Smith watched the scene with a playful smile. He had no intention of sparing Sarutobi Hiruzen, either. This man was far from innocent. Though Sarutobi hadn't provoked him directly, his actions had been far from righteous.

However, Sarutobi's continued existence wasn't entirely meaningless. After the Nine-Tails' rebellion, Konoha's power had been greatly weakened. Smith was curious how things would play out once he took Sasuke and Naruto away from the village.

Would the world still need the Dimension Guild's help? Would new tasks be available for the guild?

For now, Sarutobi Hiruzen's death would have to wait. Smith needed him alive—for now—because there were still plans in motion.

He also needed to force the Uchiha clan's hand. Without Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Uchiha clan would have no reason to follow him. Some villains were necessary for the narrative, and Sarutobi Hiruzen was the perfect target.

For now, Smith wouldn't kill Sarutobi. If the opportunity presented itself in the future, however, he wouldn't hesitate.

He was also curious whether Danzo was truly the mastermind behind everything—or if he had always been a scapegoat.
