Genshin Impact: The God Incarnate

Chapter 47: Chapter 048: Bully

Vorthis pointed to the distinct circular area.

"So, this is also a terrain change caused by the battle?"

Guizoli gulped, her throat moving as she processed the sight.

Vorthis scratched his head awkwardly and explained.

"Uh… That's the result of my Small Fireball Technique after I hit the God of Swamp, Hastus. The explosion created that crater, but I've already filled it back with soil."

"No worries; in a year or two, the terrain will blend back in naturally."

Guizoli raised an eyebrow in confusion.

Was the terrain really the issue here?

Shouldn't the conversation be about how terrifyingly powerful that technique was?

"Small Fireball Technique"? You're calling that a "small fireball"?

When the explosion occurred, Guizoli, far away in her domain outside Guifeather City, had witnessed its overwhelming impact. If it was that awe-inspiring from a distance, what must it have been like up close?

After a few seconds, Guizoli reluctantly accepted Vorthis' explanation.

"And what about the God of Swamp?"

Like Vorthis, Guizoli couldn't sense any trace of Hastus in the surrounding area.

Vorthis spread his hands helplessly again.

"I threw the fireball right at him; it was a perfect hit."

"But when the fireball expanded and consumed everything, the flames settled, and there was no trace of him left. No aura, no presence."

"So, he must have escaped."

Honestly, Vorthis wasn't sure how the God of Swamp had managed to flee from such a vast and devastating attack.

After all, that Small Fireball Technique MAX Plus had drained nearly one-fifth of Vorthis' power. Yet, it still couldn't annihilate the God of Swamp completely.

He felt a little defeated.

Maybe I'm just not cut out for battles, Vorthis thought. I should leave this kind of thing to Morax.

Hehe!

"Escaped, did he?"

Guizoli stroked her chin thoughtfully.

The God of Swamp, Hastus, wielded the authority of swamps, boasting an ability that tied his existence to the survival of the swamps themselves.

From her perspective, Vorthis likely destroyed a manifestation of the God of Swamp—a swamp-formed avatar empowered by his authority.

Without obliterating Hastus' true essence, the God of Swamp could not truly die.

And now, that seemed to be the case.

"I've figured it out," Guizoli declared.

"The God of Swamp didn't come at you with his true body but rather an avatar created from his authority over swamps."

"Is that so?"

Vorthis clenched his fists in frustration.

So it was just an avatar of the God of Swamp?

I nearly blew everything I had for that!

The more Vorthis thought about it, the angrier he got.

Since the God of Swamp had dared provoke him, there was no way Vorthis would let it slide.

"I'll remember this grudge!" Vorthis declared, crossing his arms and addressing Guizoli.

"The God of Swamp thought I was the weakest among us, but now he should know how 'soft' I really am!"

"Let's go, Sister Guizoli! We're going to find Brother Morax and settle this!"

Getting bullied? Naturally, he'd go to Morax to get revenge!

Guizoli almost burst out laughing.

Why does this feel like a child running home to tattle on a bully?

And besides… Vorthis didn't even get bullied!

If the God of Swamp had confronted him in person, Hastus might have been utterly obliterated by Vorthis' Small Fireball Technique.

Meanwhile, the God of Swamp himself, deeply shaken by the fiery devastation, found himself in his palace.

At the heart of the luxurious stone structure lay a pool—not filled with water, but with swampy sludge.

This pool represented Hastus' true form, while everything else he manifested stemmed from his swamp authority.

Now, the pool bubbled furiously, steam rising as Hastus' emotions surged.

Why? Why? Why?

How could that boy unleash such a devastating attack with a mere fireball?

He had scorched hundreds of miles of swampland, rendering it barren.

Hastus felt a profound despair. His swamp authority, overwhelmed by the intense heat, couldn't regenerate the wetlands.

For the first time, the God of Swamp faced an insurmountable challenge.

Previously, he had conquered the domains of three other gods by overwhelming them with his swamp authority.

But now, he had met his match.

Would the God of Manifestation, Zennos, come knocking for retribution?

And how should he respond?

The fiery spectacle replayed in Hastus' mind, his unease growing.

In such moments, Hastus knew he needed to stay calm. Panicking would only worsen the situation. He had to find a solution.

He had underestimated Vorthis.

What he had assumed to be an easy target turned out to be a formidable threat.

But why would such a powerful god serve under the God of Geo, Morax?

Meanwhile, in Guifeather City, the aftermath of Vorthis' battle left its residents stunned.

They had witnessed the rise of a new sun—a testament to their God of Feather's unparalleled might.

Some even speculated that "God of Feather" was an unworthy title and proposed calling him the Sun God instead.

After recounting the events to Guizoli, Vorthis appeared above Guifeather City, his presence visible to all.

The citizens gazed up at him with awe and reverence.

"Earlier, the God of Swamp attempted to destroy the unfinished Guifeather City. He has been repelled. You may continue construction under my protection, without fear."

After delivering his message, Vorthis vanished from the skies.

With such a powerful deity watching over them, the citizens felt secure.

Their spirits lifted by their divine protector's display of strength, they worked on the city with renewed fervor, as if energized by an unstoppable force.

"Let's go, Sister Guizoli," Vorthis said, returning to his pavilion in the clouds.

"Time to find Morax."

Vorthis ascended above the clouds and addressed Guizhong.

Guizhong, however, continued to curiously examine the pavilion Vorthis had constructed atop the clouds.

She couldn't help but marvel once more at the immense power of Vorthis' authority over manifestation, an ability that allowed him to conjure objects through sheer will.

"Alright, then. Let's depart now," Guizhong said with a nod.

The two transformed into streaks of light and vanished from the clouds, heading toward Liyue.

In Liyue, Morax, the God of Geo, stood as its guardian.

As the deity of earth, he could sense every disturbance across the land.

From the direction of the Guili Plains, he detected a massive tremor, as though an immense energy had erupted upon the earth.

Yet Morax showed no concern.

He knew well the immense strength of Vorthis.

Even Vorthis' physical form alone was at the apex among gods, not to mention his extraordinary authority over manifestation.

Such disturbances were not new to Morax.

He recalled the time when Vorthis had used a simple fireball spell to dispatch a white tiger beast.

To Morax, it had seemed like overkill—a waste of energy on a mere creature.

But it was likely that Vorthis had been testing his powers.

This time, however, the commotion was magnitudes greater.

It seemed Vorthis had encountered a significant adversary.

And a significant adversary for Vorthis could only be another god.

In the vicinity of the Guili Plains, only the God of Swamps matched that description.

Morax had thought their three-way alliance would deter the Swamp God. But only a short time had passed before the Swamp God revealed his ambitions.

Unfortunately for him, he had provoked a seemingly gentle being who was far from easy to challenge.

Not long after, Vorthis and Guizhong arrived at the Jade Palace in Liyue.

The two approached Morax's location.

"Morax, the God of Swamps attacked me and destroyed a massive portion of the Guili Plains. It will take at least one or two years to restore it," Vorthis fumed.

"We can't let this go unpunished. Otherwise, wouldn't all the other gods think we're easy targets?"

"If we don't act, every petty spirit and demon will feel emboldened to step on us. The trouble would never end."

Vorthis sat beside Morax, angrily recounting the Swamp God's offenses—how audacious his words were, how outrageous his actions, and how fierce his attacks.

He added some "artistic flair" to better convey the gravity of the situation.

Morax's lips twitched slightly.

If he didn't know Vorthis' personality, he might have believed the entire account.

Nonetheless, Morax agreed on one key point:

Since the God of Swamps had initiated hostilities, they could not let it slide.

To endure such an affront would be unthinkable.

Even a turtle in the depths of the ocean wouldn't tolerate such an insult.

"I understand what you mean," Morax said.

"But someone must stay behind to guard the territory."

Morax stroked his chin thoughtfully.

"I'll stay," Guizhong offered with a smile. "I still have the long-distance communication talisman Vorthis gave me."

Though Guizhong was not on the same level as Morax and Vorthis in combat, she excelled in wisdom and strategy.

She willingly took on the task of guarding the territory.

Morax nodded. "That will suffice."

"Great! Let's get going!" Vorthis said eagerly.

As the God of Geo, Morax's authority naturally countered that of the God of Swamps. After all, swamps were composed of earth elements.

Vorthis was already impatient to reclaim his honor.

The two transformed into rays of light and departed from the Liyue Palace, flying toward the Swamp God's domain.

This journey...

Though I seek not dominion, I cannot ignore the pleas of the people.

May the swamp be subdued, and peace return to the Guili Plains.
