Chapter 82: 82: The Seven Archons’ Banquet
Recording the Archons' words was trivial for Reisen Riou. With a flicker of Electro, he produced detailed transcripts, even sketching their likenesses in the margins using lightning-etched marks. His LV5 drawing skill, honed by promoting realistic sketching on Ritou despite Inazuma's preference for freeform art, ensured the sketches weren't shabby.
Only three Archons brought recorders: Reisen Riou behind Raiden Ei, currents crackling; Ganyu behind Morax, brush never stopping; and Banna behind Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, quill gliding. Reisen Riou avoided standing behind Raiden Makoto—his recording flair was too conspicuous. Makoto, aware of his habits, sent him to Ei's side.
He didn't mind; the rear vantage let him sketch all Archons and attendants with ease. Attendants weren't just recorders but servers too. Reisen Riou poured tea and passed desserts for Makoto and Ei, Banna served Rukkhadevata, while Ganyu juggled all Archons without attendants. As the eldest, she managed effortlessly, recording flawlessly, keeping Barbatos happily drunk, and comforting the Cryo Archon, a Banquet first-timer. Her brushwork was absurdly efficient.
Banna lagged, Sumeru's verbose script piling up paper rivaling Ganyu's output—a struggle for the old sage. Reisen Riou, bored, analyzed the Archons' governance. Each nation's approach suited its context, with strengths and flaws—except Mondstadt's Barbatos, who spent three days drunk, spouting gibberish. The three days were merely the Banquet's start, with a break before two or three more sessions.
Post-Banquet, the Archons departed with flair. Banna, the honest oddball, glided down on Wings of Wind, until Rukkhadevata, exasperated, whisked him away in green light. Ganyu, last to leave, cleaned up, transforming into her Qilin form to soar off. Reisen Riou, hitched to Ei's lightning form for a swift ride, watched the venue's aftermath, keeping their method secret. (Not saying I spilled human anatomy secrets.)
Those secrets, gleaned from his body's elemental breakdown, confirmed Teyvat's humans matched his past world's, like coastal versus highland folk—similar, no reproductive barriers. Youkai and demon gods differed, though. Reisen Riou's human-like exterior hid a brain rivaling a supercomputer, evolved from workstation to mid-tier server, hitting mini-supercomputer at LV60—not a designed wetware bio-computer but a natural progression.
…
Back at the lodge, Narukami granted free time. Some, like the Kanjou Commission's Tong Dong, negotiated trade with Liyue. Reisen Riou approached Raiden Ei. "I'd like to learn Adeptal arts from Liyue's Adepti. Can you recommend someone?"
He'd preferred Makoto, but her clone said she was at a private gathering. Ei hesitated. "Should be possible. Chosen a teacher?"
"That coconut sheep—er, Ganyu," he said.
"Coconut sheep?" Ei frowned, unfamiliar.
"Uh, Liyue folklore about a half-Adeptal beast. Ganyu fits, with her Qilin horns looking like sheep's," he said sheepishly. "They're close."
Ei sighed. "Mind your words in Liyue. I'll arrange it. Many Inazumans have studied Liyue's arts and techniques over the years."
"Got it," Reisen Riou nodded.
"Come with me. Adeptal training requires Qixing registration. Your status should speed approval."
It did. He received approval, basic Adeptal texts, and a list of Adepti names and specialties, assured most wouldn't refuse a Qixing referral.
