Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Monsters Beneath Qingce Village
"So, do you want me to help? It'll be over quickly."
Li Pan, lying on the rocking chair, thought for a moment and then waved his hand.
"Not for now. They're trying to transition from divine rule to human governance. If they can't even overcome the consequences of natural disasters, then they might as well continue to hide under the wings of the Geo Archon like fragile fledglings."
Li Pan's voice drifted out quietly, dissipating into the air.
…
On the other side, after leaving Pokémon Home, Xiangling returned to Wanmin Restaurant with Guoba and Grookey.
"Dad, I'm back!"
As soon as she returned, Xiangling hurriedly greeted Chef Mao and then went to her room to start packing.
"Xiangling, did you get the Jueyun Chilis? By the way, I just heard from Old Liu, who's in the Millelith, that Qingce Village was hit by a flood. There might be a food shortage in Liyue in the future, so we should stock up on more food."
It was past mealtime, and Wanmin Restaurant had no customers, so Chef Mao was happy to chat with Xiangling.
Hearing Chef Mao's words, Xiangling's packing movements froze for a moment, but she quickly resumed as if nothing had happened.
"Hey, Xiangling, where are you going with all this luggage?"
It was then that Chef Mao noticed Xiangling was packing.
"Oh, Dad, I'm planning to go to Mondstadt to look for new ingredients."
Chef Mao didn't suspect anything, as this was exactly the kind of thing Xiangling would do.
"Going to Mondstadt is fine. You're a Vision holder, so you're safer outside than I am. Just don't go to Qingce Village, and you'll be fine."
After saying this, Chef Mao mysteriously glanced around, making sure no one was in Wanmin Restaurant, and then leaned in to whisper in Xiangling's ear.
"They say this flood in Qingce Village isn't normal. It might be caused by some monster that the Geo Archon sealed underground starting to stir again."
Xiangling nodded but didn't say anything. She decided to keep her plans to herself and, in a place where Chef Mao couldn't see, gestured to Grookey to go hide outside.
Grookey understood immediately and quietly slipped out of Wanmin Restaurant.
"Alright, I'm done packing. Dad, I'm off!"
In a hurry, Xiangling stuffed her clothes and dry rations into her bag and rushed out of Wanmin Restaurant.
"Ouch!"
But as soon as she stepped out, she felt a sudden darkness before her eyes, and her head throbbed with pain. She fell to the ground with a thud.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch… Xiangling, what's the rush?"
Xiangling looked up and saw a girl with reddish-brown gradient twin tails, wearing a patterned Chinese-style dress with a long train adorned with spider lilies and lilies.
She wore a stiff hat with a black bow at the back and the emblem of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor on the front.
It was Xiangling's good friend, Hu Tao, the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
"Oh, it's you, Hu Tao. I'm planning to go out to look for new ingredients."
Xiangling carefully avoided mentioning Qingce Village. Hu Tao was unreliable and might accidentally spill the beans.
"Alright, alright. Huh, what's with the little monkey?"
Hu Tao rubbed her head as she stood up.
She had originally come to Wanmin Restaurant to eat and had heard that Xiangling was back, so she wanted to try Xiangling's cooking.
But now that Xiangling was leaving, there was nothing she could do.
Chef Mao's cooking wasn't bad either.
But just then, she keenly noticed a little green monkey running over to Xiangling, blowing on the red bump on her forehead with concern.
Instantly, Hu Tao's starry eyes sparkled even brighter. This little monkey was so cute.
Once the pain in her head had subsided, Xiangling picked up Grookey and gently rubbed its little head.
"This is Grookey, a Pokémon I bought from Pokémon Home. Alright, Hu Tao, I'm off. I'll catch up with you later."
With that, Xiangling hurriedly left, leaving Hu Tao standing there, scratching her head in confusion.
"Huh, that's strange. Why is Xiangling in such a hurry today? Did something happen?"
Hu Tao scratched her head and quickly put the matter aside.
Xiangling was strong. Even without her Vision, her spear skills were formidable.
There was no way anything could go wrong.
But… that little monkey was really cute. Pokémon Home, huh… Maybe I'll check it out later.
"Chef Mao, the usual! Wanmin Boiled Fish and a serving of shrimp dumplings!"
Hu Tao thought to herself, but for now, the most important thing was to fill her stomach.
She had just finished a funeral ceremony and hadn't eaten all day.
"Coming right up!"
Chef Mao responded loudly and then quickly washed his hands and started preparing the fish.
