Genshin Impact: One Soul in Two Bodies

Chapter 20: I'll Remember This Grudge for Now!

Mondstadt.

The side gate.

Such destruction...

Standing outside the side gate, Eula looked up at the damaged entrance with a grim expression.

Honestly, she now finally understood why the Acting Grand Master and Captain Kaeya had reacted that way earlier.

Although the damaged side gate was mostly repaired, the traces of its previous destruction were still visible.

She knew that such destruction required incredibly terrifying power.

Besides the gate itself, some marks on the ground also drew Eula's attention.

It was clear that some of the soil on the ground was out of place, as if brought from elsewhere, and it stretched all the way into the city.

In other words, there must have been a deep gully stretching from outside the city straight into it, passing right through the side gate, which had only just been filled in.

Was the attack launched from this spot?

With this thought, Eula walked to where the soil changed, knelt down, and carefully examined the marks on the ground.

The Acting Grand Master said she only heard a loud bang... and then the side gate was like this...

Looking up at the side gate, Eula recalled the details the Acting Grand Master had told her. She then stood up, and the image of the black-haired young man she had met earlier surfaced in her mind.

The Acting Grand Master said his name was Kaito...

But he doesn't seem strong... he even got a sore hand fighting a Debt Collector...

If someone so powerful was truly chasing him... wouldn't he have died long ago?

And even if he was being hunted... how dared he venture outside the city by himself?

As she pondered, Eula couldn't help but frown.

She had actually voiced these doubts to the Acting Grand Master and Captain Kaeya, but they had said they were still investigating and their previous conjectures weren't necessarily correct.

But no matter what, they all agreed that both the incident at the side gate and the Hilichurl King incident at Stormbearer Mountains she had just reported were highly likely related to Kaito.

After all, when he first appeared, it was accompanied by a loud bang and a mysteriously appearing large pit. Coupled with the subsequent side gate incident and Hilichurl King incident, none of this seemed simple.

Ugh... how strange...

Whatever... I'll remember this for later...

Subconsciously, Eula, unable to make sense of anything, mentally noted down a grievance against Kaito. Then she remembered what Captain Kaeya had told her just now.

However, compared to the plan he'd suggested, she actually preferred a more direct approach.

That is, she wanted to directly ask Kaito if the incident at the side gate was related to him.

But she also knew that asking so directly would likely yield nothing, and she had no proof that the side gate incident was related to him.

Might as well get to know him first...

With this thought, Eula also looked towards Stormbearer Mountains.

When she and Kaito had met before, Kaito was clearly heading towards Stormbearer Mountains.

So, if she went there now, she might meet him again.

Let's do this for now...

Withdrawing her gaze, Eula turned and walked towards the city.

Stone Bridge.

Achooβ€”

Walking on the Stone Bridge, Kaito suddenly sneezed.

He didn't pay much attention to the sneeze, however, because he was currently pondering a question related to Amber.

He was really curious about what Amber wanted to tell Venti.

Although he'd know eventually, it didn't stop him from feeling curious now.

And now, what about his quest?

He had originally planned to continue trying to complete the system's quest, but Amber had told him to find Venti, not wanting him to stay by her side.

Facing this situation, Kaito knew he obviously couldn't continue attempting the quest today.

"This is really tough," Kaito muttered to himself as he thought.

Never mind... I'll pay the rent first...

Since the system's quest couldn't be continued for now, Kaito decided to find Gotel and pay the rent; they had agreed to do so today.

But the thought of rent immediately made Kaito a little worried.

Although Venti is strong, it's hard to accumulate Mora just from commissions.

No matter how strong Venti is, commissions are always limited, and Venti isn't the only one taking commissions.

Gotta find some other way...

But besides commissions... are there other ways to quickly earn Mora?

Kaito fell into thought.

"We meet again..."

Huh? That voice sounds a bit familiar...

But as for Mora... what should I do?

Although he heard a familiar voice, Kaito, head still bowed, remained absorbed in his thoughts about Mora, completely oblivious to the fact that someone was talking to him.

"Hey? Did you not hear me? I'm standing right in front of you!"

The voice just now had clearly increased in volume, carrying a lot of displeasure.

Huh?

Snapping out of it, Kaito saw two towering peaks right before his eyes, and then he saw that familiar face.

After that, he took a few steps back.

"Were you talking to me?"

Surprised that Eula had suddenly appeared in front of him, Kaito wondered when she had shown up.

"What else? Was I talking to thin air?" Eula retorted, looking as if it were the most obvious thing.

"Alright, it's true there's only me here right now."

Glancing around and seeing that only he and Eula were on the Stone Bridge, Kaito said this.

"Hmph! I'll remember this grievance!" Seeing that Kaito seemed disinclined to acknowledge her, Eula added another tally to his 'grudge list'.

Kaito: "..."

Staring at Eula in front of him, Kaito looked as if he wanted to speak but couldn't find the words. He hadn't expected to earn a grudge even for that.

But just as he was about to say something, Eula spoke again.

"You didn't happen to get beaten back by those Hilichurls because you didn't have a weapon, did you? That kind of scene sounds quite pathetic, but seeing as you helped me before, I'll help you find a weapon. Consider us even."

Having said that, Eula didn't wait for Kaito's reaction, simply turning and walking away.

Regardless, before investigating matters concerning Kaito, she had to repay the favor she owed him.

It just so happened he didn't have a weapon, so she would get him one. That would make them even.

Am I supposed to follow her?

Still standing rooted to the spot, Kaito couldn't figure out if Eula was taking him to get a weapon or if she was going to get one for him.

More importantly, he hadn't been beaten back by Hilichurls at all, let alone been in a pathetic state.

Why did Eula just assume that?
