In the clear stream, Lu Li and Arlecchino floated not far from the bank. The water, flowing down from the peak of Mont Esus, formed this cold river. The water temperature here was much lower than elsewhere. But for Arlecchino, in whose veins flowed blood like fire, this temperature was just right.

"I apologize... my lady, I overstepped. But..." he said, and before she could react, he scooped her up in his arms.

"I can't hold back any longer. You are the one who pushed me into this abyss, the one who corrupted my filial piety..."

Arlecchino's teeth were clenched, but the hand she had raised to strike him hovered in mid-air. She could only let him carry her towards the opposite bank in frustration—to a grassy patch where the water was just as deep as in the middle of the river.

(What is he planning?) she wondered. The next moment, his soft words answered her question.

"Let me serve you, Lady Arlecchino."
