Chapter 48: The Scarlet King's Truth

The entrance to the Scarlet King's Mausoleum glinted coldly under moonlight, like the fangs of a slumbering beast. Jeht crouched in the shadow of a dune, her *Tomb Raider*-style tactical suit blending into the night. The climbing hooks at her waist trembled faintly with each breath. Through her night-vision goggles, six Akademiya scholars bustled at the tomb's entrance—their Akasha Terminals projected azure beams, slicing ancient Scarlet King carvings into data fragments, then reassembling them into groveling figures kneeling before the Irminsul.

"Third brick on the east wall," Kazuha's voice crackled in her earpiece. Her goggles synced with his Eagle Vision scan. "Anchor the rope arrow. Avoid pressure traps. Their projectors reboot every five minutes."

Jeht held her breath and fired her compound bow. The grappling hook hissed like a viper through the air. She swung silently over patrolling guards, boots barely grazing the tomb's stone floor. The murals shifted—Akademiya's holographic overlay twisted the Scarlet King's warhorses into servants offering swords to the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.

"Vermin…" Jeht's dagger wedged into a crevice as her suit auto-recorded the forgery. "Even stealing glory from the dead."

The inner chamber reeked of stale incense and machine oil. Jeht slid along a star-charted pillar until her suit's bio-scanner vibrated—ahead, two scholars laser-carved the Scarlet King's stelae.

"This is the *Chronicle of Celestial Conquest*—the Scarlet King's own words!" A young scholar wiped sweat. "If the Mahamatra finds out—"

"Silence!" An elder injected purple fluid into the stone. "Once we replace it with the Akademiya's *Dual Sovereign Pact*, history will blame *him* for the Forbidden Knowledge!"

Jeht's zoom lens captured the corrosion: original text dissolved to reveal new accusations of betrayal. She reached for a smoke grenade when Kazuha warned: "Infrared trap—9 o'clock!"

Magnetic soles activated, Jeht clung to the ceiling as laser grids melted stone below. While the scholars adjusted equipment, she dropped before the stelae. Her macro lens revealed the fading truth: **"The Scarlet King and Dendro Archon sealed their blood pact, repelling invaders beyond the stars."**

The tomb quaked as Akademiya's traps activated—*Indiana Jones*-style axe blades rained down, poisoned spikes erupted. Jeht's pickaxe jammed in a crack, an axe grazing her ponytail.

"Left eye of the southwest statue!" Kazuha's marker flashed. "True mechanism!"

Jeht's rope arrow swung her across the chamber. Her dagger stabbed the statue's pupil, freezing all traps—axes halted inches from scholars' skulls. She burst into the burial chamber, stunned: holograms replaced the Scarlet King's sarcophagus with a slave statue, while the true golden coffin lay chained in shadows, engraved with the two sovereigns clasping hands.

"Curtain call." Jeht detonated her suit's micro-charges, shattering projectors. Amid debris, the coffin's Xel'Naga relics hummed, forming a bleeding star map—a coordinate labeled "Xel'Naga" oozed crimson.

When Cyno and the Matra stormed in, Jeht lounged on the coffin eating dates. Beside her: forged records, holograms replaying the true pact—the Greater Lord channeling Dendro into the Scarlet King as they sealed the Abyssal tide, meteors raining from the sky.

"Enough evidence to blast ten sages." She tossed Cyno an energy crystal containing Akademiya conspirators' recordings.

Kazuha interjected: "Check the crystal's micro-engravings…"

Cyno's Electro spear illuminated the coffin's base. Ancient script rearranged under voltage: **"When shadow descends beyond the stars, the pact-bearers shall awaken the Sovereigns' will."**

Three days later at Port Ormos, Jeht hung her tactical suit in a blind box shop. A child pointed at its Scarlet King pendant: "New archaeology toy?"

"The cost of truth." She flicked the bullet-scarred pendant. Hidden in the display, the *Chronicle of Celestial Conquest* slept in a *Tomb Raider* relic case, inscribed:

**"To those who follow: History is deadlier than tombs, but worth bleeding for. —Lara Croft"**

Night winds stirred the desert. Deep within the mausoleum, Xel'Naga machinery whirred. The star map shifted toward Celestia as an ancient pact stirred in the ley lines…
