Genshin Impact: Furina Wants to Confess

Chapter 4: Chapter 004: The Beginning of a Fateful Bond

The Phantom Thief really came!

But what surprised Navia wasn't just that—the most shocking part was how she made her entrance.

Crashed through the glass window?

In novels, isn't it supposed to be that the lights suddenly go out, everyone grows anxious, and when the lights come back on, they find that the prized treasure has disappeared?

Yet this thief didn't blend into the crowd, waiting for the right moment to strike. She simply barged in, completely.

Silver muttered, "If anything, she's more of a robber than a phantom thief."

He voiced Navia's thoughts.

But that wasn't the most important part.

Because right after Luna introduced herself, her figure vanished in the blink of an eye. As Navia swiftly shifted her gaze, she caught sight of Luna leaping over the podium.

In her hand, the radiance of Maiden's Tears flickered.

She's fast!

Navia had sensed the flow of elemental energy just a moment ago—did she also have a Vision?

Navia had expected the thief to take the treasure and leave. But to her surprise, Luna stood firmly on the podium, examining the gem in her hand.

"So this is 'Maiden's Tears,'" she said.

The tear-shaped gem was crystal clear, seemingly without a single impurity. The watery patterns shimmered under the lights—no wonder it was an A-grade treasure; it was impossible to look away.

Luna tucked the Maiden's Tears safely away, only to realize that the Special Forces and members of Spina di Rosula had surrounded her, fully armed.

"Enough! You damn criminal, surrender now!"

"You have nowhere to run!"

Classic lines.

What should she say in this moment? Luna pondered.

"Don't." – That was too simple, not flashy enough.

"Hehehe, how nice of you to think that!" – That sounded like a street thug.

It was then that Luna realized she had forgotten something important.

Her thief's lines.

What would make her sound like a grand phantom thief?

Should she use more exaggerated words? Like how Fontaine's god, Furina, speaks?

"Get down on your knees!" The Special Forces closed in.

There was no more time to waste.

Luna pressed her hand to her chest and gracefully twirled. "You're all so full of enthusiasm, but this stage is too small. To make it worth my while, how about one hundred Maiden's Tears next time?"

"Don't even think about it! Surrender now!"

The moment the words left their mouths, a sword beam slashed toward her knees.

Luna flipped backward, leaping high into the air, her body light as a cat's, landing on the wall.

"Such a warm welcome. Since the treasure is already in my hands, I must be off now. Until next time."

Gathering wind elements beneath her feet, she exploded into motion.

Suddenly, she accelerated, becoming a white blur as she soared above the crowd. Without making a sound, she landed at the entrance, evading the Special Forces and Spina di Rosula's pursuit, and disappeared into the night.

Miles sighed, "She really is like a cat—so nimble."

Silver commented, "But her hair is just like the young miss's, golden. Why call her White Cat and not Gold Cat?"

"Call her Platinum Cat to match her outfit. But this isn't the time for musings—Maiden's Tears was stolen. Let's catch up!"

Navia's stride quickened as she made her way toward the door.

Her movements were anything but graceful—there was no trace of a lady about her.

Miles shook his head. "The young miss is still the same—only when she's quiet and still is she a lady…"

"Should we follow her?"

"Of course. But whether we can catch up is another story."

Navia possessed a Vision, and even without elemental power, her physical abilities surpassed those of ordinary people. Moreover, her natural athleticism was exceptional.

Silver nodded, scanning around.

"…Which way do we go?"

"You might want to take off those sunglasses first."

"Then I'll just look like any ordinary person."

Compared to Spina di Rosula's calm demeanor, the Special Forces were filled with tension.

"Lock down the area! Don't rule out the possibility that she has accomplices. Meanwhile, Teams 1 and 2 will pursue, Team 3, go find the Special Forces and request urgent backup. We'll converge and surround her!"

In ordinary circumstances, the Special Forces would easily handle the situation.

But unfortunately, when it came to catching a phantom thief, they were out of their depth.

Especially this time—the thief had more power than the infamous Phantom Thief Mink from over ten years ago and was possibly a Vision holder. Rather than rushing in blindly, it was better to leave it to the experts.

The Special Forces were the specialists in such tricky cases.

Hostage situations.

Armed assaults.

Violent criminals... With the Special Forces on the job, these could all be handled optimally.

---

Speaking of the Special Forces, their current captain, Chlorinde, was someone worth mentioning.

Her purple hair and the eyepatch covering her left eye were her most striking features.

Her sharp features were often set in an icy expression, but this calm demeanor instilled a deep sense of security in her team.

"Urgent deployment, everyone line up!"

At her command, Special Forces members, all wearing tall hats, stood at attention, guns in hand.

"This criminal claims to be Phantom Thief White Cat. Based on her direction, she's likely in the city center. Follow my orders and hold your positions. If you spot her, open fire. Even if you can't immobilize her, you must not let her escape."

"Understood!"

"Then, Special Forces, move out!"

The Special Forces were equipped with standard-issue guns, and though they didn't have the vast array of guards that the police regularly deployed, their movements were far quicker and more agile.

The members took their positions, but the phantom thief was nowhere to be seen.

New recruit Turenna, gripping her gun tightly, nervously asked, "Captain, wasn't the phantom thief supposed to be dead? How is she back…?"

Chlorinde glanced at her, speaking softly, "Other teams have confirmed it's a different phantom thief. This one is more conspicuous than Mink was."

"Wasn't Mink conspicuous?"

"According to historical records, Phantom Thief Mink would quietly steal the target after sending out a heist notice and then vanish. Based on my judgment, they were just an ordinary person who didn't dare confront us directly."

Chlorinde narrowed her eyes. "But this one is different."

If she had simply wanted to steal the treasure, there were plenty of more covert ways to do so. Instead, she barged onto the stage like someone who didn't belong there, causing chaos.

Chlorinde, with her wealth of experience, was certain:

"She craves the spotlight. So she won't be returning to her 'lair' just yet… She's coming."

Turenna looked up and saw the white figure racing between buildings.

"So fast!? What's going on with this speed?" Turenna exclaimed.

"Definitely a Vision holder. Cut off her path with a net of gunfire!"

Gunshots rang out.

Bullets came from all directions, but Luna thought, If this were the old me, I wouldn't be able to avoid this... but now...

She pressed hard on the ground.

The power from the wind element shot her into the air under the moonlight. Bullets whizzed past, vanishing into the night, and the white phantom thief remained unharmed.

Turenna blinked in surprise, and the first thought that came to her mind was: She's so beautiful…

Snapping out of it, she quickly reloaded.

No matter how beautiful, she's still a criminal. We need to catch her.

As Turenna thought this, she saw Chlorinde raise her long firearm, aim, and fire.

It was as if she had predicted Luna's next move. The bullet flew toward Luna as she raced through the air.

Bang!

Another shot rang out.

But it didn't come from any of the Special Forces members.

The next second, a faint spark flashed in the night sky, as if something had collided at high speed.

Turenna widened her eyes in realization: Luna was holding a small gun.

"The bullets collided?" one of her teammates muttered in shock.

Chlorinde remained silent, holding her gun aloft, her sharp gaze locking onto Luna's white figure beneath the moonlight.

Luna, equally silent, met Chlorinde's gaze with a cool, calculating look. The cold wind broke the silence as her hair and cloak fluttered.

Chlorinde would never forget this moment—even after countless years.

Because it was the beginning of everything.
