Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Queen Has Entered the Card Pool!

When Bronya and Hu Tao found Mo Li, they saw him packing up, seemingly ready to head home.

Seeing the two of them approaching, Mo Li raised an eyebrow, curious.

"Bronya? What's up?"

"It's like this..." Bronya said, pulling Hu Tao forward and presenting her. "What do you think of Hu Tao?"

"???" Mo Li's head was instantly filled with question marks.

Was she trying to set him up with someone? No way—Bronya wouldn't do something like that. And even if she did, why a high schooler?

"Bronya, are you joking?"

"Huh?" Bronya tilted her head slightly, showing no understanding of what Mo Li meant.

"You..." Mo Li started but suddenly stopped himself, swallowing the rest of his sentence.

After a moment of silence, he decided to get straight to the point. "Just say it directly. Why did you bring Hu Tao to me?"

Bronya remained expressionless. "I think Hu Tao would make a great character template for a game."

Hearing this, Mo Li finally understood that he had completely misunderstood the situation.

Damn... was my mind really that dirty?

Internally sighing at himself, Mo Li nodded with a smile. "Miss Hu Tao does indeed have an interesting personality and would work well as a character template."

Before he could finish his sentence, Hu Tao beamed with excitement. "That's awesome! Thanks, boss!"

"Don't get too excited yet," Mo Li warned. "I have some ideas now, but it'll be a while before your character appears in the game."

"Genshin Impact" was definitely in his plans, but right now, he was focusing on Honkai Impact III. The game had just entered testing, and he still needed more popularity points before he could release Genshin Impact.

"It doesn't matter how long it takes~ It's settled then, boss. No take-backs!" Hu Tao grinned mischievously.

"Don't worry. I won't go back on my word." Mo Li chuckled. "When the time comes, you won't be able to run away even if you want to."

"Hee hee~"

After reassuring Hu Tao, Mo Li turned his attention to Bronya.

"Anything else?"

Bronya shook her head.

"Alright, then let's call it a day. We need to speed up the update schedule for the game."

"Version 1.2 is about to go live, and we haven't even finished 1.3 yet."

Bronya stared at him in silence for a moment before speaking.

"...That's because you don't give us any work. The team has been asking you for weeks, but you keep holding back on revealing the next parts of the story."

Mo Li scratched his cheek, feeling slightly embarrassed.

The truth was, the system provided him with the full versions of the games in an instant.

If he wanted to, he could release all updates immediately.

Because of this, he never felt pressured about progress.

But perhaps due to lingering emotions from his past life, Mo Li had developed a soft spot for his team.

He didn't want them to work too hard, so he intentionally kept their workload light.

Who would've thought that would become a source of frustration for Bronya?

"Alright, alright," Mo Li relented. "If you guys aren't feeling overworked, I'll speed up the process."

"This is the best approach," Bronya said seriously. "If we prepare content for the next two versions in advance, we'll have time to fix any unexpected bugs."

"Plus, if we come up with new ideas during development, we'll still have enough flexibility to make adjustments."

"After all, we—"

As Bronya continued her reasoning, Mo Li suddenly found himself noticing something unexpected.

There was a strange contrast in her demeanor.

In Mo Li's mind, Bronya had always been the calm, emotionless strategist, much like her in-game persona—the "little faceless duck floating in the air."

Yet here she was, passionately discussing game development, showing a surprisingly mature side.

And oddly enough… it was kind of cute.

The thought made him smile.

Before she could continue talking, he suddenly reached out, patting her head gently.

"I get it, I get it. Don't worry, I'll take care of it." He chuckled before walking towards the door.

Pausing for a moment, he added playfully, "That's enough for today—let's talk more tomorrow~"

Bronya's Perspective

Bronya stood frozen, staring blankly at Mo Li's retreating figure.

A faint blush crept onto her otherwise expressionless face.

And then, annoyance set in.

What does he think he's doing? Does he really see me as a little kid?!

Patting my head like I'm some child?

Wait…

Now that she thought about it, didn't her in-game model make her look even younger?

Could it be that Mo Li actually saw her as a kid?

She quickly looked down.

Hmm…

Her view was entirely blocked by two prominent mounds.

I can't even see my toes…

So, what kind of idiot was he?!

Did he not notice how thin her waist was? How shapely her figure was?

And yet… he treated her like a child?!

Unbelievable.

Dare to touch my head, will you?

Just you wait, Mo Li…

"Sister Bronya, are you and Boss Mo Li really that close?"

Hu Tao, who had been silently observing, tugged at Bronya's sleeve, curiosity shining in her eyes.

Bronya quickly snapped back to reality.

She cleared her throat, suppressing any lingering embarrassment.

Cough "Don't get the wrong idea. It's nothing like that."

"As for what just happened… just think of him as a crazy person."

Hu Tao blinked in confusion. "Huh?"

Bronya narrowed her eyes. The temperature in the room seemed to drop slightly.

"You understand?"

"Hehe~ I understand~ I won't say a word~"

Mo Li's Perspective

As Mo Li stepped out of the studio, the realization of what he had just done finally hit him.

"Wait... wasn't that way too rude?!"

He had the sudden urge to cover his face in shame.

He could already imagine Bronya's cold stare.

"Yeah… she definitely hates me now."

Sighing, Mo Li shook his head.

The problem was, every time he saw Bronya's blank expression, he immediately thought of the "big faceless duck" meme from Honkai Impact III.

And combined with his initial impression of her… she just seemed too cute.

So, in the heat of the moment, he instinctively patted her head.

"...Well, let's just hope she doesn't kill me for it."

But if she did want to beat him up, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing?

After all, getting stepped on by a beautiful girl…

Some people might actually enjoy that.

"...Huh. Maybe this is a hidden benefit?"

Mo Li smirked to himself.

"Yeah, let's call it that. A benefit."

Meanwhile, on the Internet...

Discussions about Honkai Impact III were still exploding online.

From plot theories to character debates, the game had completely taken over the gaming community.

And just as netizens were enthusiastically sharing their thoughts, MiHoYo released a new promotional video.

"Honkai Impact III – Version 1.2 Preview"

New S-Class Characters: "Herrscher of the Void" & "Red Knight Lunar Eclipse"

Herrscher of the Void?!

The Queen was entering the gacha pool?!

And Himeko's S-Class armor, Red Knight Lunar Eclipse?!

New plot! New characters!

The short teaser was enough to send the entire community into a frenzy.

Players could still remember the absolute shock of "The Queen's Arrival" event just three days ago.

And now, she was actually a playable character?!

"This is insane!"

"MiHoYo is really going all out!"

Yet… none of them knew what awaited them in Version 1.2.

They were about to experience a world of pain.
