Chapter 268 - Fiery Golden Eyes (3)
Scaled arms flew through the air.
Splat!
At the same time, blood gushed out like a fountain.
“B-Blink!”
However, the dragonkin, swallowing the pain of having her arms severed, immediately activated spatial magic. In the blink of an eye, she vanished.
Thunk.
Her severed arms pathetically hit the ground. Despite losing the dragonkin in front of him, Kim Shimun showed no signs of agitation.
It made sense. He didn’t lose her at all.
‘I let her go.’
As if to prove it, the dragonkin reappeared where Kim Shimun’s gaze had turned.
Flash!
Feeling his eyes on her the moment she materialized, “How… how did you…”
She shuddered slightly under Kim Shimun’s intense gaze. With a silent smirk, Shimun thought, ‘This is the maximum power of the Fiery Golden Eyes I can utilize.’
Obtained in exchange for unsealing the Constellation, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven—Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King.
True to a Constellation’s signature skill, it effortlessly saw through spatial magic.
‘Though I did experience some overload while forcibly dispelling Polymorph earlier…’
The ability to see through and even forcibly dispel the high-tier magic, Polymorph, was impressive.
The issue, ‘This isn’t its full power.’
Kim Shimun winced slightly at the warmth in his left eye turning into a burning sensation. Be it due to the dragonkin body or using it within its allowed maximum limits, the Fiery Golden Eyes emitted considerable heat.
‘Though I can push its performance further… my body wouldn’t withstand it.’
Even as an acquired trait, it remained a Constellation’s skill. Even with the dragonoid body, a mortal body could hardly handle it fully.
‘At least I’d need a demigod’s physique like Gigantes for proper use.’
Even acquiring a demigod’s body wouldn’t allow perfect use, its current performance was impressive enough.
‘Still, this is plenty.’
Moreover, ‘As the Dragonoid Transformation grows, the allowed limit of the Fiery Golden Eyes will expand too.’
Though not a divine body, the dragonoid was the physical form of dragons, one of the top-rank races in the Arena.
As it grew, the Fiery Golden Eyes’ limits would also increase.
Having settled his thoughts, Kim Shimun’s head tilted slightly to the side. His activated Odin’s Eye detected a gust of wind.
Whoosh!
And sure enough, a sharp noise accompanied a gust that brushed past his ear.
Without turning, he unleashed,
Heavenly Demon Divine Art (天魔神功),
Strike (擊) Supreme Emperor’s Demolition (覇皇碎).
A condensed fist imbued with demonic energy shot forward.
Following it,
Heavenly Demon Divine Art (天魔神功),
Heavenly Demon’s Supreme Step (天魔君臨步) Illusion (幻影).
He stamped his foot briefly but powerfully.
Then,
Smack!
“Ugh!”
One Ranker, who had attempted an ambush with a wind attribute, sputtered blood as he was flung through the air.
Slice.
Kim Shimun’s figure split into five images standing in place.
But the other two Rankers,
“An illusion!”
“Where is he!”
They calmly concentrated their aura on their weapons and swung wide. Unfortunately, the illusions created by the Heavenly Demon’s Supreme Step were not mere illusions but tangible clones.
Clang!
“What!”
“This too?!”
Their efforts to cut down the illusions were in vain.
Pew! Pew!
Naturally, black beams pierced through the gaps.
“Argh!”
“Gah!”
Their chests and abdomens were penetrated, the three Rankers, healed by the dragonkin, hit the ground again in an instant.
“Whew.”
Like someone with dry eyes, Kim Shimun blinked and sighed, snapping his fingers.
Crunch!
“Ahhh!”
“Gahhh!”
The alchemized ground pierced through the fallen Rankers’ limbs.
Observing this, the dragonkin asked, “Why?”
“What?”
“Are you really asking out of ignorance?”
Three Rankers and a dragonkin. Essentially four Rankers, an efficient combined force of combat and magic.
Yet despite their superior numbers, they were thoroughly beaten twice already.
“Why don’t you kill them?”
Kim Shimun inflicted only severe injuries, avoiding any mortal strikes.
Even so, “I know you wield mythic items.”
The mysterious magic that Kim Shimun had showcased numerous times, these lowly humans might not understand it, but it was already well-known among the dragons that they were mythical items.
However, “If you used that, the situation would have ended much faster. Why don’t you use it?”
Why wasn’t he using that tremendous mythical weapon?
The dragonkin furrowed her brows.
“Are you looking down on us?”
At that, “Looking down… well, it might seem that way.”
Kim Shimun replied with a chuckle.
“There’s a price for using it. Besides, I don’t feel the need to use it against you.”
They were three Rankers, Moreover, the dragonkin wasn’t a player.
There was no drop in ability in reality.
Yet he didn’t feel the need to use a mythical weapon against them?
But the dragonkin couldn’t get angry.
“Ugh…”
“Gah…”
Kim Shimun had already proven that reason to be true.
Kim Shimun glanced at the fallen Rankers behind him.
“And because keeping them alive benefits me more than killing them.”
He shrugged. At Kim Shimun’s response,
“You plan to use them as evidence of this assassination?”
The dragonkin growled softly.
“Do you think we’re stupid enough to let that happen?”
“Of course not.”
Kim Shimun sneered, pointing at the fallen Rankers.
“From what I saw, two were tampered with at the chest, and one at the abdomen?”
“How, how did you know that?!”
The dragonkin’s eyes widened in shock.
“I see, your left eye. You discovered it with that left eye of yours.”
She glared at Kim Shimun’s golden, glowing left eye.
“Correct.”
Kim Shimun acknowledged it casually, seeing no reason to hide it. The dragonkin gritted her teeth.
‘Though I knew he possessed Odin’s Eye…’
Odin’s Eye, as a relic of a divine-king Constellation, its absurd capabilities were well-known, ‘But it shouldn’t be able to detect the planted catalysts in their bodies.’
The catalysts embedded in the three Rankers should have been undetectable. They were specially crafted, considering Kim Shimun’s Odin’s Eye.
So how did he see through it all?
‘It seems like some other ability, not just Odin’s Eye. Something that can see through everything…’
The dragonkin’s brow furrowed deeper.
Then, she froze.
“Could it be that you haven’t used your mythical weapon so far…”
Unable to finish her sentence, Kim Shimun observed her for a moment before replying.
“You’re probably right.”
He smiled, nodding.
“As you said, you guys aren’t that stupid. The fact that you resorted to such an assassination is strange, isn’t it?”
Four Rankers, a meticulously assembled Ranker party, dismissed as ‘just a simple assassination’ by Kim Shimun.
Including high-tier magic like Polymorph, which easily assassinated Rankers across Asia.
“There must be some other scheme. No need for me to go all out.”
He nonchalantly implied that he had held back, expecting another ploy. Meaning that since he realized their Polymorph disguise, ‘From the beginning… we’ve all been playing into his hands…!’
Up to this very moment, all this had been under Kim Shimun’s control.
For a top-rank dragonkin member like a dragonkin,
Grit!
‘Damn this human!’
It was only natural to grind her teeth in frustration.
“Alright. I admit it.”
Yet, she nodded calmly, a hint of relief in her expression.
“It was our mistake to consider you weak due to the reality limitation.”
Her eyes, which had shown relief momentarily, hardened.
“Let’s cut the nonsense and get to the point.”
She spread her arms slightly to her sides,
Then, “As you said, there was a hidden agenda in this operation.”
Buzz.
A strange hum enveloped her. Kim Shimun, about to make a move, stopped. His activated Odin’s Eye and Fiery Golden Eyes revealed the truth.
‘She’s in a different space.’
Since the hum began, she seemed visible but had moved to a different dimension.
“This place is one of the dimensions closest to the Celestial Realm. Meaning even minor causal influences have significant effects.”
Observing the forest and mountains around her, “If you had used a mythical weapon, the rebound would allow us to reach the mythical realm as well.”
She fixed her gaze on Kim Shimun.
“Shrewdly, you didn’t leave any room for causal influence…”
Her words trailed off.
Immediately, “We’ll have to take the initiative, even if it means taking a loss.”
With the dragonkin’s words, “Aargh!”
“Hurk!”
Screams erupted from behind. The three Rankers from Continental were impaled by spikes rising from the ground.
As Kim Shimun pointed out earlier, a sinister light emanated from their chests and abdomens.
“It hurts! It really hurts!!”
“Hey! This was supposed to be a buff—”
And before Kim Shimun could intervene, their bodies were crushed instantly, centered around the sinister light.
Crunch!
Crack!
The condensed remains of the three Rankers shot up into the sky as beams of sinister light.
“Though lowly, I offer this sacrifice…”
The dragonkin’s ominous voice matched the scene.
“Descend upon this place personally!”
The pillar of light dissipated.
Yet, the dragonkin’s face lit up with joy.
Rightly so.
Aaaah.
The malevolent light that had soared skyward began to descend.
And from within the light, “I have awaited this moment.”
A strong figure in majestic armor slowly descended.
That familiar figure was none other than, “Erlang Shen?”
The Constellation who supervised the seal of Sun Wukong on Five Elements Mountain. Even from a considerable distance, Kim Shimun’s voice reached him.
“Ha! Even a lowly mortal retains a memory akin to that of a beast.”
With a sneer, Erlang Shen landed on the ground.
“Since this descent is through a rightful procedure, not even Buddha can shield your insolence this time.”
Clang.
As his trident struck the ground,
Boom!
An immense pressure, similar to the time on Wu Xing Shan, pressed down on Kim Shimun.
As Kim Shimun staggered slightly, “You deceived Buddha and released the great traitor of the heavenly realm. You won’t be able to atone gracefully.”
Erlang Shen smirked in satisfaction.
Behind him, “Erlang Shen, you must recall that he belongs to us.”
The dragonkin spoke.
Was she familiar with the avatars of Constellations?
“You may have your fun but do not take his life at your whim.”
She stated her terms without a hint of fear or hesitation.
“Hah!”
The consequence was brutal.
Crunch!
“Guh!”
Although her true body was hidden in multiple dimensions,
“Not a Dragon Lord, merely a dragonkin, how dare…”
Erlang Shen’s trident pierced her chest effortlessly.
“As usual, your kind never learns.”
With a derisive laugh, “Let your arrogance be a sacrifice.”
Crunch!
The dragonkin was crushed and absorbed by the trident, just like the previous Rankers.
Then, “Hoo?”
Erlang Shen marveled at the eerie blue glow of his trident.
It was no surprise.
“A lowly creature possessing the Dragon Lord’s Relic, no less.”
To counter Kim Shimun’s eye, the dragonkin possessed a dark blue scale, now embedded in the trident.
“Although as feeble as its master, it’s still a piece of causality.”
With a satisfied smirk, Erlang Shen turned back, Looking at Kim Shimun with eyes full of cruelty.
“Rest assured, lowly mortal. I won’t let you atone easily.”
As if wanting to instill greater fear,
“First, I’ll carve up that filthy body of yours slowly, very slowly.”
Step by step, he advanced.
“Hm?”
His eyes twitched. The reason was clear.
‘That…’
Kim Shimun, who had regained his posture despite the immense pressure, held a single strand of fur between his fingers.
Golden, or rather, platinum-blazed, that strand.
“No way!”
Erlang Shen recognized it painfully well.
“You cur!”
He roared, thrusting his trident at the speed of light.
Rustle.
However, before Erlang Shen’s trident could pierce Kim Shimun, the golden strand left Kim Shimun’s hand first.
In the blink of an eye, imperceptible to mortals, the golden strand exploded upon contact with the trident.
Boom!
Resonant in eardrums, Erlang Shen was driven back, gouging the ground as he slid.
“Grrr!”
But he had no time to be astonished.
“I expected more, considering you used this already…”
The single golden strand that repelled the trident, had turned into the one he resented most.
“Erlang Shen, huh? As expected, you’re a remarkable fellow, Kim Shimun.”
TL’s Corner:
Sun Wukong to the rescue.
